I was in NYC for work. The Standard's customer service is five stars. Staff is courteous and prompt to bring things up to my room when I asked for them. I had a view to the Empire State Building and that was fine. I did have to ask for a kettle and mugs. I also went to the nearby Chelsea Market for instant coffee because there was no coffee or tea in the room. For a business traveler, that's pretty inconvenient. The area around is very safe. I walked around at 11pm and although the streets were empty (it was freezing), I didn't see any trash or felt unsafe. It's not the most convenient place for shopping but Chelsea Market is four minutes away. The A-E-L trains were about seven minutes away on foot. Overall, a better experience than I expected. read more

Very cute hotel, especially in the common areas. Plenty of room to sit in the lobby. Elevators are amazing (there's a montage of video characters playing). Connected restaurants were a "ginger bread" like house, which served hot chocolate, chocolate with marshmallows, etc. The standard Grill had your basic breakfast/lunch/dinner entrees and then a Bier Gartern Our room was tiny! We thought it would be bigger but it was fine for 2 people. The seating area in the room, looked like a seating area for a boat lol. There are no doors to the shower, which had a garden style head. The water felt sooooooooooooooooooooo good. And there's a really dim light in the shower area. There is also a DEEP tub, big enough for 2 people i'm sure. No doors on the sink area either. Contains about 4 sets of towels, which was great. A safe, steamer, blow dryer. The bathroom had a door! Bed was very low to the floor, King size comfy. Carpet was a little different than I'm used to. The GYM has the best views lol. 17th floor. A ton of equipment to use TV is as low as the bed. Our view was allllllllllllllll City buildings and the water. It was beautiful!!!! There is uncovered parking. Since it snowed, we parked a few blocks away in a covered garage, not affiliated with the hotel. We left at 1:30am after realizing we would not get any sleep. When we told the front desk there didn't seem to be any surprise or remorse. Excellent stay here at The Standard High Line. My wife and I really enjoyed the room, the views and the service. We always loved this neighborhood. Check-in was fast and easy. The Liberty Corner King has stunning views east, west & south. We were on the 13th floor and got the Empire State building, freedom tower, Statue of Liberty and Jersey along the Hudson River with an amazing sunset. The hotel is large (I think 18 floors), yet it had a very boutique feel to it. They provide slippers, robes, an umbrella and a steamer. Fully stocked minibar. Customer service was outstanding. Everywhere we walked throughout the property, every employee was friendly and made an effort to say hello. Special thanks to Melissa for making our anniversary memorable. David was great as well. There is a rooftop nightclub which we faintly heard the music from. It didn't disturb our sleep though on the plush comfortable bed. Seems like the 12th floor might be the best location to be completely undisturbed. The hotel is trendy, sexy with a touch of hipster vibe. Not the most traditional, but perfect for my stay. It's funny for me to be writing this review because when I lived in NYC, Le Bain and the Biergarten were two haunts of mine, but I hadn't stayed at the hotel until this past week when my boyfriend and I took a trip in. I was very pleased with my experience. I booked through Chase Reserve's The Edit program and all of my credits were applied without issue. Service was extremely, extremely friendly. They were absolutely super welcoming and the staff seemed happy to be there which I always take as a good sign of management. Room was small (unsurprisingly) but nice, although the bathroom situation was a bit weird as there was literally a wide window between the shower and the rest of the room. Not a big deal as I was there with my partner, but would be a huge problem for a non-romantic pair. We had breakfast at the hotel both days and it was adequate - definitely better spots nearby but we had the credit to use so figured we might as well. I had omelettes both days and they were pretty substantial. Prices are mid-range (expect to spend around $20-25 pp). I thought I lost my passport there and reached out via email and they replied rapidly and kindly. Would stay again and would recommend. Great location too - Chelsea market is about a 3 minute walk. read more

Centrally located in Chelsea, this hotel gives you the ability to walk around the different suburbs easily. The check-in/check-out process was seamless! From SF. Stayed here for a small trip during Pride 2025. I'll start by saying the outside and visual appeal of the hotel is really appealing. Location was cool too. We walked almost everywhere once we figured out it wasn't too bad to get some exercise in. Upon checking in (side note- checking in ahead of time does nothing but it was a swift check-in on a Thursday evening), concierge asked us if we were noise sensitive. Apparently they have a club on the 18th floor and floors closer to the top get pretty loud. Club is open until 4am. I was flexible but my partner is noise sensitive when falling asleep so we opted for a quieter room. Even on the 8th floor we could still hear the music pretty clearly so I can't imagine how loud it is closer to the 18th floor. She mentioned she upgraded us to a Queen deluxe (?) We thanked her and proceeded to our room. 8th floor right by the elevators. View was cool. (Could see the Whitney Museum from our window as well as the river and a soccer field.) We noticed pretty quickly that the room was tiny. Which isn't the end of the world. We realize it's NY and we were not gonna spend that much time in the hotel room anyways. The bathroom and toilet are separated. Toilet room is cramped I would say. The bathroom portion is where our biggest issue was. There is a very deep and spacious bathtub but the shower was very poorly designed. The water goes everywhere because there is no door or curtain or lip to catch the water. So it spills out to the sink area and makes it extremely slippery and dangerous. We had to pile towels on the floor by the edge to try to keep the water contained. It was futile. I didn't even want to take a shower anymore. I decided on a bath after that. Not many places to hang towels or put items. Small closet with steamer. Bed was very soft. Like too soft for me. But that's just my opinion. Carpet appears a bit dingy. Couldn't get the light above our bed to turn on. There is a Bluetooth speaker for music. Small sitting area with table and booth. Baby fridge and 2 waters/day. My partner expressed interest in switching hotels a day into our stay but I felt like that would be a hassle. Definitely not worth the price in our opinion and would not come back if/when we come back to NY. read more

I had a very nice two-night staycation at The Standard. I booked a Premium Deluxe Room and requested a quiet room, which put me on a lower floor. Despite being lower to the ground, the view from my room was still fantastic, which is what I wanted. Being a New Yorker, I had no interest in seeing more buildings on my vacation, so it was nice to be able to look downtown and onto the river. It's also cool seeing how the High Line goes right through the building. The room was also a perfect setup for me: not large (what NYC hotel room is?), but efficiently laid out, with a useful sitting area with table, and separate shower/tub area from the toilet/sink area. I enjoyed the soaking tub, but I concur with other complaints that for a luxe hotel at a luxe price, you would expect some sort of bath products to make the experience nicer. Thankfully, I read other reviews and knew to bring some bath salts with me. I called Housekeeping to ask for a pair of slippers to use in-room, as well as a kettle. The service was friendly and prompt each time. This was helpful, as when I initially checked in, one of the hotel staff members had a bit of a snobby demeanor. Everyone else I encountered was great, though. I felt the room was understandably a bit drafty, with the ceiling to floor windows, but I adjusted the temperature as needed, and was fine. Please be aware that the Standard caters to hip urban kids that feed on minimalism and cool. Upon walking into the crammed and tiny lobby with irritating lights, confusing signage, and a hallway so dark you can hardly figure out how to get to the elevators, we knew we were in trouble. The rooms are hyper-modern and small, meaning your bathroom sink is in the shower, along with the trash cans, and your bed is on the floor, along with the TV. Hated everything about it and not for those that like elbow room, comfort, and a little opulence. Came for a Thanksgiving getaway this year and so glad we did! Love love love this hotel. I'm 63 so while there's a bit of a hipster vibe, the hotel is all about good service & hospitality which makes me feel included, not alienated. I've stayed here 7 or 8 times and love the location, views of the Hudson, convenience to everywhere and the smartly designed, super cute rooms (perhaps a bit small but seriously it's NYC) Wanna shout out Rosa who was particularly kind and sent us a complimentary bottle--TY Rosa! Enjoyed staying here Christmas Eve. Room was upgraded I guess because they weren't very busy. Comfy bed with a great view of the Hudson looking north towards midtown. Room was a tad rundown and the shower was downright silly. Called a peekaboo it was a small room containing a shower, vanity and towels with no shower door. The drain was on the floor next to the cabinet so the room flooded whenever I'd shower. The stay included breakfast at the Standard Grill, always a fan favorite. Service was excellent with a friendly, accommodating staff who seemed genuinely happy to be working. Lobby is cool as was the outdoor area. I consider the hotel to be well priced and the location really can't be beat. A short walk to The Roastery, Chelsea Market and the Highline makes this a top choice when making the grueling 20 minute drive to stay in Manhattan. Kudos read more

I've got to say this place has gone down hill over the past few years. The rooms are NOT being kept in good condition. This is the second trip I've had where I've had flooding issues that have seriously impactedy my stay. Mind you these are 2 week long work trips too! The mechanics that have come to "fix" the rooms/issues aren't being honest with the rest of the staff which is very unfortunate. The front desk folks are all very nice and have done their best to problem solve, but this seems like an issue were if management doesn't start tackling the building and mechanical problems they'll start to feel it. The location is great and the front desk staff and housekeeping staff have all been wonderful. The ambiance is definitely geared towards adults vs family friendly which is nice...but the 17th floor can be loud. I generally stay here for long haul work trips but after the various major issues and compiling inconveniences and no one really doing much to help ensure two different multi-week stays with flooding issies has been taken care of I'll be unfortunately starting to look elsewhere for my work travel. read more

This is our favorite place to stay in NYC. You pay a premium for great quality here. My wife and I always get the suite with a bathtub overlooking Little Island whenever we need to unwind and have been going for over 10 years. Rooms are always spotless. Food is always fantastic, especially the steak with frites and eggs Benedict. We get a bottle of wine and stare out the floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy the Hudson River, High Line and generally people watch. We're not big club goers, but the amazing City Winery is just across the street and there are incredible restaurants all around the Standard. One of the things that I love about the Standard is the attentive and friendly staff at every level. Even taking the elevator is a fun experience with the artistic video displays that vary from elevator to elevator. We have stayed at hotels throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan and this is easily our first choice! read more

We just spent 4 nights here over the Thanksgiving holiday and for the most part the hotel was ok. I was not a big fan of the peek a boo shower/bath combo, and the fact that there was zero storage so we could unpack our suitcases was bothersome. The staff were great, and the bar attached to the hotel was wonderful. We ate one meal there during our stay and it was good. Not great but good! The rooftop bar/ club was in a league of its owns with spectacular views. The gym on the 17th floor had pretty much the same view but some of the machines (treadmills, and bikes) were broken so we spent limited time there. We enjoyed the meat packing district with its proximity to the Hudson. All in all it was a nice hotel with reasonable prices. read more

Listen, I am only knocking off one star because there are some technological issues that the Standard needs to adjust to come up to standard, such as more USB plugs in the rooms, as well as an alarm clock, better Wi-fi connection and electrical outlets that actually hold the plug while in use. All that aside, the guest experience here is unmatched from start to finish. I even left behind my child's iPad accidentally and Tyrell, the shipping manager, is absolutely amazing. Please give that man a raise and/or all of the money he needs to be satisfied in life because he has kept in contact with me like no other and has been such a pleasure to work with and speak to. I wish him all the best in his career and in life and hope to encounter more genuine and positive human beings like him. The staff at the front desk was also cordial and kind upon arrival and everyone that we ran into in the housing department was just as pleasant. We did stay with our daughter, but I would definitely strongly hold to the statement that The Standard is leaning heavily toward the "grown & sexy" vibe. So perfect for a couple's trip. I did not personally try their room service menu, but they do offer a variety of food from wagyu steak, to chicken wings, to salmon on your Caesar salad and even a good pickle. read more

The Standard Hotel is not the cool hotel they used to be. The Attitude is just terrible and inefficient from the front desk staff. The beds & pillows are not comfortable. I've stayed at The Standard, High Line many times over the years, but this stay will be my last. The hotel has 18 floors and only 4 elevators. According to an employee, one of them has been out of service for over a month. That leaves 3 elevators, and during events, management blocks off 2 of them for private use--leaving just one elevator to serve the entire hotel. The result? Wait times of 5-10 minutes for an elevator were common, and I personally heard another guest say they waited over 15 minutes. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. Management was aware of the problem, but did little to address it. After several complaints, they briefly allowed guests access to 2 elevators, only to revert back to their policy the very next day. The message is clear: they prioritize events over paying hotel guests. This used to be my go-to hotel in this part of Manhattan, but after this experience, I'll be staying elsewhere. read more

The location is great, very walkable to the waterfront, and all the fun trendy neighborhoods. The superior room was fairly large and had views across Jersey and the waterfront. But that's where the positives end. The bathroom is ridiculous in this hotel. The shower is huge but has no door, and shutters that open to the living room. It could be a better use of space and a better experience. The tile is black, it's very dark and cold since it's all open. Please don't share this room with a friend, it offers no privacy. The bathtub is unnecessary, who's taking a bath in NYC? The toilet is tiny, behind a door that always gets stuck. The sink area is small. The room had a booth-like couch and table that took up space and didn't provide a relaxing sitting area. There was no dresser for clothes, and the closet was so tiny it was unusable. The bed was a mattress on the floor, it was Japanese style, which didn't fit the retro decor. The mattress was comfy but had no mattress pad, so you felt the ridges and bumps. The restaurant was OK, but breakfast could have been more impressive and pricey for what you get in terms of quality. I don't mind paying for food, but this was average. With such a view and square footage, it could be so much better. read more

Second time staying here. Two years and one pandemic apart. Pros: (1) rooftop access, le Bain entry; (2) gym has a gorgeous view; (3) close to everything while they hold your bags after check out. Cons: (1) $440/ night + $35 resort fee; (2) no microwave in room & no access to one; (3) super thin wall, can hear ppl talking in the hall way and every door open n close on the floor; (4) no iron/ steamer in room but I did not request one; (5) requested Q-tips but was informed there were none; (6) ok hospitality; (7) room is very cozy for the price point and the location; (8) worst pillows in the world. This is an excellent example of a hotel that looks great on the website, but is a complete disappointment in reality. Tired, tired rooms. Terrible service. I expect a quality standard from The Standard, but this property is anything but. I waited on hold for more than 20 minutes trying to get connected to literally anyone at the front desk on a Thursday morning and ended up having to give up and go down in person. The room feels super old and run down, too. Totally unacceptable at any price, but especially terrible given how expensive this hotel is. I stayed here for two nights for a quick weekend getaway for reference. The restaurants inside are lackluster, but the rooftop bar (Le Bein) is a MUST. The elevator to access the bar is on the side of the building but hotel guests get to skip the lines for entry which is great. The staff was honestly outstanding. They were so helpful and friendly, for New York this is a rarity. They asked if we wanted a lower or higher floor and noted you can hear the bar til 4AM on the higher floor. We stayed on floor 16 (out of 18) and you can absolutely hear the music. I didn't mind I wanted the view! But it is something to note. The room was so clean! They have ample towels, retro decor. Standard size rooms for NYC. I love the location of this hotel as well. Next to the Whitney musuem and lots of cute restaurant and bars! About a 20 min ride to penn station if you're needing a train to/from the hotel from there. read more

It was not a great sign that when we arrived at The Standard around 4 PM in the afternoon, one of the guests leaving its revolving doors openly vomited on the street side. But the stay inside also did not endear us to the hotel. Do not come to this hotel expecting a good night's sleep. We stayed on the 11th floor and the loud thumping noise from the penthouse night club Le Bain kept us awake all night long. The hotel could soundproof the club or its hotel rooms, or it could warn its guests. But it chooses to do nothing except give you completely useless earplugs that do not work because you can still feel the bass. The night club shut down by 4:05 AM, and I was able to sleep from 5-8 AM. When I called the next morning (I didn't call the front desk that evening because my husband was asleep), the front desk at first told me that any floors below the 14th floor shouldn't be able to hear the music and then blamed the music on the night club on the ground floor. I had to explain to him that I was not lying. It was insulting. He then said that I didn't receive a warning about the loud music because I was not above the 14th floor. WTF. There are reviews all over yelp dating back years that suggest that the noise complaints apply to all the floors--the front desk even acknowledged that people on floors below the 14th floor could hear noise from the Brass Monkey nightclub on the ground. The primary purpose of a hotel is to allow its patrons to sleep. And The Standard not only doesn't allow that, it insults its guests too. Nowhere on The Standard's website or marketing does it tell you that you will be assaulted by loud music if you stay at the hotel. They finally removed the facility fee for one evening after my complaint. But if you care about a good nights sleep, this is not the hotel for you. read more

Venue (5/5): Beautiful venue with lots of different connected areas including a rooftop, Biergarten, and seating sections. Biergarten area is cool with ping pong tables, games, etc. Service (4/5): Good and prompt service but they could've done a better job checking up on us more. This place is not inclusive to everyone. The entrance to the hotel was confusing and uncomfortable. Due to the design of the two doors along side of the revolving door, you're unable to see if they're actually doors or windows, leaving the patron stumbling through to access the check-in area. Once inside, you're greeted with very friendly employees eager to assist you. Much appreciated. Once you get your key, you walk through a very dark hallway leading you to what seems like a very grim future. You enter the elevator and suddenly your bad dream has started with morbid classical music on repeat with the TVs playing to a bizarre traveling circus/carnival. The room was designed efficiently to pack in any guest. The highlight of my room was the giant bathtub. You probably could've fit 3 people in it. I do want to mention, the bed was pretty much a mattress on the floor, so anyone with physical limitations should note that. Again, not for everyone. There is no microwave or iron/ironing board. The fridge is full of things so you'll have to pull everything out if you need to use the refrigerator. The view was beautiful, however come the evening, be expected to be kept up until the wee hour because of the night club festivities downstairs. The partying makes it very difficult to sleep. So if you're a professional like me, DO NOT GO HERE. You will be painfully sleep deprived. On the flip side, you can be greeted when coming in from work with a cocktail and enthusiastic employees encouraging roller skating in the front of the hotel. (No really, they were so sweet though) I was able to eat a salad on one of my days there. It was mediocre, but the service was fantastic. Those girls need a raise. Be advised that this hotel is not super close to a corner store either. All and all, if you're looking for a scene or you're in your early 20's, this place slaps. I just don't recommend staying here if you have a family or are traveling for work. read more

My carbonara was mushy with a fully cooked egg on top, my husband's medium steak was well done and overly salty. I immediately asked for the bill. The waiter didn't once ask if the food was good.
