Daughter and I have been wanting to go to a Waffle House for a while but Hubs had been dragging his feet on it. We finally decided to come here on our trip to NOVA because we figure it would be good because it was away from major highways and it was one of the highest rating out of all the ones we were looking at. It looked nice when you're outside the restaurant. It's located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. When we got here, the place was empty so we were able to pick any table we wanted. The place looks like a typical fast food place, with white tile walls, counter seating in the middle, and light gray booths that line the walls. We came here in the morning, so we had the whole place to ourselves. The booths had plastic red cushions that were mounted to the seat backs, while framed novelty pictures and framed restaurant rules adorn the very back wall. The kitchen is also outside and behind the counter, so we can see and hear all of the sizzling. We ordered the following: Daughter ordered Sausage, egg and cheese in a hash brown bowl. She substituted hash browns for grits and thought it was pretty good and it hit the spot Hubs had Waffle with 2 eggs and thought the eggs were ok but he wasn't impressed with the waffles. He felt that the waffles were undercooked and under crisped. Lastly, I had two egg breakfast with smothered hash browns. This was ok. What turned us off this place was the ants. We didn't notice until we sat down and saw ants on our table. We switched to a table that didn't have it but most of the tables had it and it was gross. That ruined my excitement at trying this place and we were worried about ants crawling on us. Daughter is more aware of ants and was hyper vigilant and I was thankful for that. Though service was quick and friendly, we won't be returning to this place. I guess this experience was enough to turn us off from coming to one in the future! read more

We were in MD for the weekend. Was looking for breakfast and said hey we haven't had the Waffle House in years. So decided to come to this one. The place was clean and the staff was nice. The food was also good. I had over easy eggs since I don't like the runny clear stuff on the sunny side up eggs. And some waffles. OMG! I have no idea what they put into their batter for the waffles. But it was good. I loved how it was thin and still crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. It was really good. Definitely will come back again when we head down south. We visited this location on a Saturday around 2p and had a great experience! The food was surprisingly really tasty/filling and the service was extremely impressive. The servers and cook were quick, responsive, and thoroughly kind. I tipped them 25% because of the excellent service and great food. One employee was mopping when we entered and wiping down tables so I know that the surfaces were clean. The cook area was a little messy, which is great to me when it comes to Waffle House because that solidifies that the food will be fire (something I learned when living down south). Overall, my family and I really enjoyed this location and will definitely travel 37 min to visit again. Unfortunately, we are our food so fast that we didn't get any pics lol. read more

My husband found out the one day a year Waffle House takes reservations is Valentine's Day, so we just had to come! We both got the hash brown bowl & waffle special (only $20 for two people!) with decaf coffee (had to get that full experience even though it was evening). He got his bacon & egg hash browns smothered, diced, peppered, and capped and thought they were delicious, and he described his pecan waffle as "magic." I'd call that a glowing review! I got my bacon & egg hash browns diced and added ketchup for a meal that was wonderfully satisfying, and my regular waffle was so fluffy and perfect. Our server was very nice and brought us adorable paper hats with s & s on them, and there were flower petals strewn about the restaurant for a hilariously kitschy vibe. Couldn't place a to-go order either online, or by phone, so I went in-person. Waited on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 9:15am until 9:25am, and stood by the cash register and NO ONE would wait on me. I left and filed a complaint online, and two days later (Monday, November 18, 2024) I received a phone call from a Mr. Davis (District Manager) from North Carolina, and he said he would speak with the store. I respectfully asked for a follow-up call, but was denied. I could tell he didn't care and I was wasting his time, for he said he was brand new to Waffle House (6 weeks) and when I asked how to contact Corporate or the CEO, he did not know. Very disappointed in both that location and the lack of response from Mr. Davis. This is the third time this has occurred at that location in six months. Never going to any Waffle House ever again. At my coworkers' suggestions, we stopped into this WH, located in the heart of Harford County, MD. I must say that I was a little hesitant to go, what with all the bad press that this company has gotten recently. I was pleased to find that the staff was beyond friendly, so my guard quickly came down. My order was nothing unusual - two scrambled eggs, hash browns, raisin toast, coffee. Tasty enough. Disappointing breakfast at the Waffle House. Ordered a waffle which was very dense and under cooked. Also had the biscuits and gravy platter. The Biscuits were over buttered and the gravy was very salty. Overall, it's the ambiance you expect with a lot of hustle bustle on a Sunday morning. Our server was very attentive and it's the only reason I would consider trying this restaurant again. It's also a very affordable option. Close your eyes and imagine an old school diner. I bet you can hear the crackling of bacon, sizzling of eggs, and the top dog in the kitchen yelling orders like a quarterback calling audibles. Now open your eyes and see your fantasy come to life minus the modern day update. This location is small and the waiting area gets packed with patrons vying for a table and taste of these waffles. It is very humid as the kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and taking up a lot of real estate with it. Of special concern is the slick floor caused by the moisture from the high volume of orders. Slick enough that your young ones might fall if they dart around. Kids are unpredictable. The menu presented before me was concise and very affordable ($6 for waffle and bacon, see my photo). There's a secret menu of $5 meals. Secret because it was hidden among the handouts in the booth. Because I came on the weekend and the waitress didn't tell me about this, I'm going to assume these are week day specials as the menu didn't say. The waffles were good but left that wow factor behind. I've definitely had better but not for this price so who am I to complain? I don't usually travel up US-1 so when I did go this way, I took the opportunity to try this Waffle House location. This Waffle House wasn't very busy on a Saturday night, so even the parking spaces right in front of the restaurant were more than sufficient. Service was pretty good. Am disappointed with this location. Been coming here for years but now their food quality has gone down. The grits were extremely lumpy so much that I had to mash them up. They also tasted a bit weird. The Smithfield country ham was a piece of shoe leather & overcooked even though I asked the waitress to tell the cook to lightly cook it. And the waffles didn't taste anything like they used to. I loved their malt waffles but now they taste like they changed to a plain old Bisquick batter. Plus my table was greasy & wet. Not the cleanest breakfast spot in Bel Air, but probably the most indulgent. The eggs are usually fine, but don't get gypped on toppings if you order, say, a chocolate chip waffle. It's really a 3.5 stars, hit or miss kinda place. The waffles are great, the cheese in the egg was maybe a little too much, the hash brown are never well done enough for me, at first serving the coffee is way too hot, and most of their menu items are slightly greasy.
