I don't normally rate chains but this is a good exception. This place is utterly spotless. Steve the manager is always buzzing around making sure stuff is good. The service is so polite and fast. This particular Waffle House is located just off of Interstate 10 in Daphne, Alabama. It is convenient to several area hotels, including one that is literally right next door to it, so this Waffle House is a good breakfast choice for these area visitors. Coincidentally, I am one of those area visitors, here on business. Waffle House has earned and iconic place then the American landscape. Or, at least here in the southeastern United States. Anywhere you travel in the Southeast, you're more than likely to come across the bright yellow sign that indicates that a Waffle House is there. For a business called Waffle House, I have never had their waffles. I more prefer savory breakfast so I will usually go with their a choices or oh, probably more so, I get at a patty melt. If you are unsure of what that is, think grilled cheese meets hamburger. My favorite part about Waffle House though is there a home fries periods you can get them topped with a slew of toppings, everything from Chile to cheese to onions and more. They truly are the best part about Waffle House, at least in my opinion I would definitely recommend a visit here. There is nothing fancy about Waffle House oh, it is based on the concept of a greasy spoon diner. But that probably only enhances the experience. Waffle House is a favorite place for breakfast and today my husband and I split the All Star which includes, eggs, toast, grits, sausage and a waffle. Great breakfast for a reasonable price. I enjoyed the waffle to which I added pecans. On this visit, I noticed there is a jukebox to listen to music as you dine. WH is always delicious and you can dine quickly any time of day 24-7. read more

I give most Waffle Houses a 2 star just to start. I love them ! Today I tried a different Waffle House and I was disappointed from the time I opened their door. No welcome or May I help you.....Nothing! We sat ourselves at the only clean table we could find. Then came the average service from 2 different waitresses. The kids grilled cheese was burnt. The omelette was cold and our hash browns were not all the way cooked. Oh well.... At least there was no screaming of our orders! Maybe it was just an off day. I will try again. read more

Went to a Waffle House in Arizona back In The day & it was terrible!! Vowed to never go back, but my buddy I visiting down south recommend I try it again and I swear it was like night and day! I don't know what happened in between AZ & AL but obviously these cooks in Alabama are different!! Simple menu nothing really to write home about but everything was on point! I am a grits guy & I couldn't believe how creamy thick & perfect these cooks got them! I normally prefer mom and pops breakfast spots, but I will definitely come back here!! Walked over from motel, the was fast and good, staff wasn't very attentive but waitress we had was nice, had a issue with order and waitress got it fixed. Ceiling was leaking but it wasn't raining out side. The lady were we paid wasn't rude but wasn't friendly. Maybe she was having a bad day. read more

The place was so clean the service was great our servers name Laura and she was amazing and the cooks name was Payton and was the best Waffle House cook ever. Visiting from out of town, we started a day at Waffle House and were treated EXCEPTIONALLY well. By far the best experience we've ever had at a Waffle House. We were seated immediately. We were approached within minutes and our drinks and orders were taken. Once drinks were brought back out, within maybe 5 minutes, our food was out. The waitress was so sweet. She checked on us numerous times and asked our our fathers hat which indicated his position in the Pakistan war. She asked him more questions towards conversation and then told him that he was ordered a discount. She refilled drinks regularly and in the meantime while we ate , we had a cook and a manager approach our tables and ask how the food and service was. It was great and the food was perfect as well. ever since they tore down the old one and remodeled and built the new one something has changed. The servings are a lot smaller, especially the hashbrowns. It's like you're getting half an order of hashbrowns now. The chili I got had so many onions in it that it was inedible. They also have change their to go prices. Now there are two sections of to go that they charge for each of them are about $2.50 a piece for a total of almost 5 dollars that's tacked onto your normal order when you get something to go. Plus I guess they had to pay for that remodeling because the prices have gone up as well I'll stick with one on Highway 90 and not this one on Highway 98 they just re-opened a few months ago. It's just not the same value that it used to be, not by a long shot. read more

This was a fun visit. When I was about college aged we lived here, especially o. Holidays when some of us could not afford to travel home It is still a bit grimy and greasy, but it is hard to get someone unkind in charge of your food. Go enjoy the liveliness. First off, this is a new location and is extremely clean. So that's where the star came from. The service in the other hand, was not so great. When I walked in (7:30 pm) there was only one other table occupied. So you would think a service could handle one table. I wasn't able to catch my servers name because the only time I talked to her was when she took my order (short, white girl with short brown hair). The cook served me my food. I did not receive one refill (nor was I asked). The bacon was black and the hash browns were so burnt and crispy that I didn't even eat them. I told the server when I paid about the refill and burnt food.. she just said sorry. Honestly, there is another WH and couple miles down the road that is a lot better. Avoid this one and go to the other. Really hate to leave a one star, but the service was really that bad, especially with only two tops down. read more

We were in Daphne for a few days at a nearby hotel and dined once at Waffle House. The staff was very nice, and the food was very good. Very tasty! And, the wait was just fine, BUT, and I don't like saying this - but it was dirty. Everything was dirty. The napkin holder was dirty and grimy, the window sill, the bottles on the table. The floors. It's not a huge restaurant, so I don't know why it could not be cleaner. It's in a nice area. The restaurants across the street were clean. But the food was good! Would I eat there again - maybe, but only for takeout. But no dining in until it's been scrubbed from top to bottom. read more

Service was crappy. Food was not up to standard. Got grits that I didn't want tan there was a huge solid lump in the middle. The staff was constantly smoking at the front door and the waitress didn't total my ticket for checkout. Two people walked out from the counter after not being served. I've eaten at Waffle Houses all across the nation, and no one goes there expecting pristine dining rooms or chandeliers. What you get is consistently good food, good service, and great prices. I'm not a big hashbrowns fan, but I love theirs when mixed with the egg yolks from my over easy eggs & a little bacon grease thrown in the mix.
