My wife is low maintenance and quite easy to please. I offered a bunch of different restaurants for dinner and when I jokingly said, "Waffle House" she said "Yes. Let's go there!" Just after 5pm and our meal was excellent. She had the "All Star" which meant I got the ham and she let me have a bite of waffle. Eggs cooked perfectly and the grits were delicious. A very nice meal. I've never had a burger at Waffle House as it's usually breakfast food for me. So I had that and it was nice. Maybe the burger was cooked closer to well done than anything like medium but with plenty of bacon plus lettuce and tomato, it was great. Hash browns topped with a healthy portion of Bert's Chili and yeah, I'm going to have some heartburn tonight. Worth it! Cheap and cheerful and friendly service. There's a long drive I've made over the years - Florida to Virginia, my favorite 12hr drive ( please hear the sarcasm though my words ). This Waffle House has been very consistent over the years. Now, it's definitely in the cut, not a lot of traffic comes through but don't worry, this only makes the foot fresher! I ordered an egg/cheese omelette w/ a side of toast. After driving through the night with the occasional gas and rest stop we made it to Florence South Carolina and decided to check out a local Waffle House. Now I can't speak on every establishment but especially after such a long drive this stop was fantastic! I got the biscuits and gravy and a side of bacon and it was cooked perfectly and way better than I'd initially imagined. The staff was very kind (especially our server Britney) she was so attentive and kind. We ended up staying close to an hour since the atmosphere was just so friendly, the coffee was delicious and we really needed a moment to rest. read more

Friendly staff, but definitely not the cleanest. When we walked in, every empty table was dirty. We chose one and someone eventually wiped it down. High chairs were not clean. I asked for the rag they used to wipe our table to wipe the seat off for my daughter. All staff were in masks. They also had plastic barriers between booths, so I'm not 100% sure what that was helping/preventing. Someone gave us an antibacterial wipe to also clean the spot my daughter was eating off of, which was nice. The grill area seemed okay, but the floor underneath was pretty gross looking. From where we were sitting, you could see a cup, lost condiments, and some other junk that had collected. I imagine they clean this daily and had just gotten busy during a rush. Avoid the restroom at all costs. Definitely gross-- I'm assuming they get a lot of trucker traffic because the seat was up on the women's toilet and wasn't flushed. The seat was filthy and I used my shoe to drop it down. Toilet paper was all over the floor and it just seemed... sticky... in there. I really didn't want to touch anything anddddd I'm honestly not afraid of germs. To my knowledge, there is no changing table, but I wouldn't have taken my daughter in there anyway. Definitely needs some attention! Honestly, I would have given them 2 stars, but the service and food bumped it to 3. What can I say, other than when you're hungry and pretty much in the middle of nowhere standards take a back seat. Heading to Waffle House most patrons don't have high expectations, and I'm no exception, but this place brings the bar down a few notches. Cleanliness is non existent here. Everything, and I mean everything, was sticky. The floors (see pic) were littered with debris as well. Both our orders were wrong, and the food itself was your standard Waffle House fare. In other words, bleh. The fact that this place has an average of four stars just tells me they have no incentive to improve as long as customers accept so little. The one bright spot was the service. Although slow it was pleasant. Next time we're on the road, I'll try to remember to pack a lunch. read more

New Year's Day, we were driving back up North after spending the holiday in Savnnah. Looking for our first meal of the New Year at 1PM - The Bucc-ees was a madhouse with people jostling elbow to elbow. We really wanted to just sit down and have a simple meal after being on the road for several hours. The waitstaff at this location was so attentive and friendly! You may say, "It's just a Waffle House, there are better places to eat." But I think this was best way to start off the first day of the year! Our waitress was just bubbly and genuinely happy to serve us. I had the sirloin breakfast platter and my wife had the grilled porkchops. We shared, and both agreed their pork chops were the better of the two. If we go back down south this way, we'll be sure to stop back at this Waffle House location #1840 is the best! read more

This might have been one of the best waffle houses we've ever been to. We visited this place yesterday as we stayed in Florence for the night to get away from the hurricane. The staff was super friendly and patient as we weren't in any rush. Our waitress checked up on us numerous times to see if we needed anything. The food is typical Waffle House food which we love. Everything came out perfect and was made fast. Even during check out we were asked how everything was and if we needed anything else before leaving. Would high recommend eating here for a quick bite. Let me describe the adventure and journey I had with this Waffle House location today. I ordered a steak medium rare with eggs over medium and a side of sausage. A simple Saturday breakfast to get the day started right. The final product that showed up on my table was quite the opposite....the medium rare steak that was to be the centerpiece of my meal was an exquisite mix of rare, medium rare, raw and well done. The mystery behind each bite certainly kept me captivated and engaged as most mysteries do. This Waffle House's take on eggs was quite interesting as a unique form of egg drop soup was served up for my enjoyment. (Pictured below) Finally, the dehydrated sausage patties were the perfect cherry on top of this epically horrible meal. Decided to stop because I've never been, let's start with the food I wasn't impressed kinda bland and not tasteful. The portions were alright. When we came in, every table had dirty dishes on them except for one table. There was only one family in the restaurant and they were dining in next to the clean table. Five minutes after sitting down, we were told by the employee that the restaurant was doing take-out only. The staff was clearly not allowing us to dine in as a way to avoid doing more dishes. To who this may concern. I recently had one of the most wonderful experience in my life. There are two people in question that went out of there way to make this dining experience so great that is ms khera (waitress) and ms Alexis( the master cook)I also watched (the manager on duty)mr. Jamar how he handled himself while under pressure from different rushes, how clean and tidy he keep the store, and how patient he was to the customers to make sure every order was correct. We had stopped for the night at the Holiday Inn Express just north of Florence, SC and were very hungry. There were very few choices nearby. We decided to give the Waffle House a try. There were no cars in the parking lot (it was about 7:30 in the evening on a Saturday night) so our first thought was that it was closed. But the lights were on and there were employees there. The waiter was very nice and very funny. He said he was on his third shift and had a seven week old baby at home. He said he walked to work, which was why there were no cars in the parking lot I guess. He was very pleasant and personable. The woman who was the grill cook was also very nice. The food was tasty and prepared with pride. We were pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. The only reason I give it only four stars was that shortly after we ordered another couple came in and were allowed to smoke. It wasn't too bad, but that is the reason I have avoided Waffle Houses in the past, because they typically reek of cigarette smoke. read more

Well, it is Waffle House after all, why did I expect anything more. The waffle my husband ordered was good BUT I ordered grilled chicken combo and it was nasty (and not as the menu stated with toppings, etc). My advice? I ate here on my way back from FL to NY and I have to say my experience was great! Ada was a wonderful waitress - very attentive and was always one step ahead of our requests. Very refreshing, considering I received much worse service during a $300 dinner in Palm Beach. Food was tasty, hot and fresh. Would recommend 100%.
