On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. I sat down for 2-3 minutes then decided that I don't need this negativity and got up to leave prior to meeting my server. Another server came over and I told her I was leaving because of how I was treated. I asked if she was going to be my server because I didn't want the other server. (The other server purposely didn't seat me in her section). I ordered my meal, coffee, water, and mentioned that when I am leaving, I will be ordering the Kale Tonic. I clearly said, "When I am leaving". Less than half way thru my meal she had a tray with about four drinks (for other tables I presumed). She said she was setting the check down so I wouldn't have to wait for it (strange comment since I was still eating). Somehow, without me noticing this part, she sat the Kale Tonic (in a To-Go cup) down as well. So now, I have the coffee and water that I ordered for dining in AND a third drink that I wanted as I walked out the door. I do not want my To-Go drink setting there with melting ice for 15-20 minutes. The drink was for me, but what if I was taking it home to a family member, and it was already melted. This atmosphere is unpleasant. I will no longer order anything To-Go at any restaurant, while I am placing my dine-in order. I was trying to be helpful to her when I mentioned it in the beginning. All it did was hurt me. When she sat the drink down, without me seeing it, she was obviously gone, and I couldn't remind her that I wanted to take it with me when I was leaving. So, there I sat finishing the other half of my meal feeling unheard. (I was already ignored waiting in line to be seated. Not sure how the other server didn't see me when there was only the elderly couple and me IN FRONT of them). I tipped on the entire meal including the Kale Tonic and even over-tipped to be nice. If there were more screens mounted on the walls I would call it a sportsbar, but that isn't the case. Our orders were taken, and I had gone for eggs, hashbrowns, and corned beef because it was St Patty's Day. Realistically one of the few times that I have legitimately had food that was appropriate for the holiday. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time for a group of ten, so the kitchen and staff knew what they were doing. The food was fine... nothing to really shout out about, but also not bad. It was what I expected it to be, and that was good enough.

It gave off a warm, welcoming, one-of-the-family vibe. Kasey was my server for the meal and she was frowning before I asked one question. I placed an order for one Country Fried Steak with sides of Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese, along with some Strawberry Shortcake to round out the meal. I soon saw Cantankerous Kasey begrudgingly returning with my victuals. I don't understand this attitude. Am I supposed to be grateful she deigned to work here? Anyway, if any of you are curious like me, you may have often wondered what it was like to spend a day in jail. To that end, I admit, I got myself hauled off to the County Hoosegow. Wanting to make the most out of my tax dollars, I booked my stay to include lunch. The dry bologna sandwich you receive, along with the juice bag to wash it down, is something you try to forget. As I looked at the slop my trustee, Kasey, placed before me, I began to long for the county jail government issue bologna. The Country Fried Steak was fresh from the freezer and cooked with the precision of Stevie Wonder passing his behind-the-wheel driving test. I've been hit with hockey pucks softer than this garbage. The gravy was made in the Sysco factory and this had to be their bottom-grade slush. It was as tasty as flour and water. Wait. The sides were a step down from the entree, if that is possible. Just look at the pictures and tell me, does anything look appetizing? While I am not one to ever judge a book by its cover, as looks can be deceiving. In this case, they are not, and the adage 'a picture speaks a thousand words' is spot on. The Collard Greens were obviously from an industrial can. Hey, don't get me wrong, all restaurants use a food service, but you don't have to be cheap about it and try to finagle the dining population by using the lowest quality they have to offer. The Mac & Cheese looked more like something a dog regurgitated than actual food. It was dry and pasty on the palate--just the way it is not supposed to be. The Strawberry Shortcake is also food service, not unlike the stuff you got in high school, only worse. Kudos, 1906 Farmhouse, you officially serve Swill sans the fly. At least on this visit. The Big Boy says, "I wouldn't serve this SWILL to a dead dog."

Big black board on wall with specials. Very detailed menu also. Cell service is not existent inside but I did see and use the guest WiFi. Several ladies serving or taking orders so service was great. Menu is pretty extensive but I finally settled on the Reuben and went with the soup as a side. The Reuben was delicious. Not overloaded like some try to do it but also not lacking. Delicious!. Now I know soup when it is 80 outside but she sold it well. She also did not oversell it as it was as good as she said. Loaded potato with bacon and cheese and broccoli. Wow. Cleaned it all up and washed it down with some truly awesome sweet tea.
