Eating at a Waffle House has been on my bucket list for a long time and I finally did it. Now I am questioning myself, why did it take me so long to finally do it. I had always heard horror stories about Waffle House, so I avoided it. I quickly learned, they were just stories and not part of my experience. I went for a Sunday morning breakfast around 9 AM. The parking lot and the restaurant was packed. However, I lucked out and got a stool at the counter next to the check-out register. A man getting a carry-out was leaving and I slid into his seat. It was loud inside the restaurant, music was playing, lots of conversations and orders being shouted to the short order cooks. May have been loud, but it was also entertaining at the same time. After looking the menu over, I went with, All-Star Special. It's a two egg breakfast with a waffle and side protein. My eggs were scrambled, I chose hash browns over grits, bacon was my protein, took my waffle plain and said no to toast. Who needs toast when you've got a waffle. Being seated at the counter, I was able to watch the cooks prepare the food. I was impressed with all of mine. I loved that the bacon was freshly prepared. Most diners prepare bacon ahead of time, but not WH. The hash browns were super crispy, just how I like them and I didn't even have to request them to be prepared that way. My waffle was the star of the morning. It wasn't big and fluffy, it was a thinner waffle, but full of flavor. With a good smear of whipped spread and a generous pour of syrup, it hit the spot. I'll be back for another waffle and a side of bacon. The service was attentive and entertaining at the same time. They called regulars by name and others were hun, babe and other names. It gave a warm fuzzy feeling. I was surprised to read on their name tags how long some of the staff members have been with WH. Most of them had been working at WH 5 years or more. That blew my mind. If you haven't experienced a Waffle House, don't wait as long as I did. Get out of your comfort zone and go enjoy it yourself. read more

We stopped at Waffle House while visiting from out of town to tour the University, and it was a perfect start to our day. Our server, Shawn, was awesome attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The food was spot-on: I had the ham, over-easy eggs, and hash browns, and my son got the chicken sausage--everything was cooked exactly right. Huge shoutout to the chef & sous chef in who were totally in the zone and absolutely nailed every order. You can tell they take pride in the food coming off that grill. The coffee was hot, the vibe was classic and welcoming, and the whole place just felt like a warm hug. This Waffle House will definitely be a regular stop for us anytime we're back in town. Waffle House delivered on the food front, serving up exactly what you'd expect - classic diner comfort food done right. Waffle House is a classic. The waffles were fluffy, the eggs were perfectly cooked, and they did a great job accommodating allergies, which was a big plus. Love how there was a stamp on the waffle with the Waffle House logo. That said, there were a couple of downsides. They forgot the chocolate chips in our waffle, which was a bit of a letdown. On top of that, it was to-go only, so we couldn't eat inside. Losing the sit-down experience took away some of the charm and fun that comes with eating indoors at Waffle House. It was also freezing cold outside which made it much harder to wait for the food too. Overall, though, the food was solid, and I appreciated their attention to dietary needs for our group. I'd come back, but next time I would hope to get the full Waffle House experience next time - chocolate chips and a table inside! read more

Worst service I've had in 2026! Arrived at 2 in the morning and didn't get order until 3:30 am, the staff was just as lost as the manager on duty whom was utterly rude and the loud the entire time, never going back to chain of rocks Waffle House since the store look absolutely filthy. This location should've obviously be more concerned with correcting management and crew members. Corporate should clearly focus on having at least a clean store I'd can only imagine what condition theyre corporate office could be in with how filthy the chain of rocks location was with my 2hr long visit! It's an old reliable breakfast spot off the highway. Good food and service every single time.

Was hesitant due to a few unhappy reviews but we were super pleased! Juanita was great. She took our order quickly and the food was out fast, hot and correct. Grits were perfect...hot, buttery, correctly salted, and right thickness. Not a hint of scorch on my cheesy eggs. Bacon was perfectly crispy. Neighborhood looks a little dubious...don't think I'd go by myself late at night, but daytime with hubby, we're good. If you are expecting gourmet food and lattes, that's not any Waffle House. If you want good, hot food with friendly service, stop here! read more

SERVICE SUCKED! Love was the worst ever. Maybe she's a gem with the regulars but she's the opposite of professionalism. Just because it's a shifty area doesn't mean it has to be shifty service. I'm sure she means well, but I couldn't deal with it. We arrived. Smiles on our faces. No greeting, that's fine, folks are busy. We asked for a table. Love said, while near the table, "you'll get one when one is clean." I have a different idea of customer service. I would have attempted or pretended (while the customer is looking at me) to clean it off. She went back to deal with her people. So. We waited. And waited. Luckily Madison came and got us, cleared the table and apologized. I get low staffed, but pretend to make the effort. Hopefully Madison is a manager or promoted to one because she gets it. Came here after a concert in St. Louis, parking lot was pretty dark and could use some more lights. The size was about the size of most locations maybe a little smaller. The hostess/waitress was nice enough but did let us know everyone else was sick which isn't really what you want to hear about the people cooking your food. She wasn't very attentive, had to ask for straws, and didn't bring any syrup for the waffle. The food was good, tasted like Waffle House food. I might consider trying a different location next time. read more

Visited this site last evening. Arrived at 10:30pm and was told by the staff they were closed. They close at 11:00 pm but use the last hour to clean. No one came out or acknowledged us or the other couple that eventually just walked out. Employee said that they couldn't sit us because they had things to do first. Every year on our yearly trip to Arkansas we hit up this Waffle House location in Missouri. I've been going to Waffle House's since I was a kid on family trips. I have now been passing this tradition down to my husband and our soon to be twins! The food is great, and the customer service is great! I love that everything is made here fresh to order and you can see your food being cooked. Over the years there have been new menu items added including their amazing dark roast coffee and adding yummy delicious chocolate chips on top of your waffles. Both of these menu items have become what I now typically order at a Waffle House. My husband loves their eggs, bacon, and hash browns. This reminds me.....I LOVE their smothered hash browns! They're probably one of the best hash browns I have ever had. Thinking about them now makes me drool. I only wish that one day they would open one in the suburbs of Illinois, but atlas I must wait until our yearly trip to Arkansas in August every year. $37 lunch for two. Both of us got a sandwich or a burger with hash browns. One drink a piece. There were no pork chops, ham steaks or T-bones on the menu. Burgers and sandwiches only. Should have got scared when there were no prices on the menu but after eating at these places from time to time my whole adult life as a fifty year old, I was used to this being for diners on a budget so I didn't catch that. We regret no going to our favorite steakhouse pub. We could have added one domestic beer and an appetizer plus to meals big enough to stuff you. Our mistake. read more

So it was my first time to a place like this...should it be this small? It feels likeMcdonald's smaller dirtier cousin,with the kiddie menu. In any event, it was cheap, and the meal was pretty cool. The hashbrowns...eh, i expected more,better....i guess i could say the same thing about the entire meal. Stopped here for breakfast as we have been to the Waffle House many many times and I have to say I couldn't believe how awesome of an experience this place was over the others. The cook here was by far the best that I have seen and did everything perfect. She was awesome to the point we gave her personally a $10 tip on a $18 bill. I had not been to a Waffle house in probably 15 years or so! I was headed down the highway to Denny's where I knew I could get a sausage/gravy biscuit with a side of hash browns for $2, a glass of ice water/lemon and $1.50 tip. Always worth it, I just wanted sausage which they only provide links. My problem with the waffle house was that I told the waitress, Jessica that I had terminal cancer and could only eat small meals throughout the day or I'd become sick. I just wanted the Biscuits, gravy, hash brown and a side of sausage! Who'd of thought that the hash browns were $1.79 for such a small portion and burnt! Also the supposed sausage gravy didn't contain sausage! I got two small sausage patty's which were good but I had no idea I was paying $2.79 for them! Water in a plastic cup. Gossip running from the moment I walked in (the only customer their). The food was ok, nothing special at all. Then I got my bill, wow! It was about $8.75, with tip at this point $10.00 are you kidding me??? At best this food should have cost about $6.00 or less! They don't have anything grouped on the menu but larger items like the "super breakfast" or Steak which I can't imagine eating their! I was hoping I'd of found a decent place to eat breakfast meals at a reasonable price but this was not the case! The $10.00 I spent I could have added a few bucks more and eaten at Outback Steakhouse, with a decent steak, unlimited shrimp and good side dish all served with unlimited delicious bread loaf! I could have had leftovers to take home for another meal later or the next day! I will never, ever again eat at this establishment! Especially with the gossip going on via the bad neighborhood at Chain of Rocks and Route 3 in Granite City! The motel across the street in view seems to make for much gossip! None of which I was interested in. I didn't question the prices because never in a million years did I expect 2 small patties of sausage to cost near $3 nor, not even a small ice cream scoop of hashbrowns to cost $2, the biscuits and gravy (no sausage in it) at $3. What a bad experience! I think they survive off of unsuspecting truck drivers or those traveling through off of 270. Thank God I did not load up on the hashbrown's as she tried to push for "oh ya! you can add bacon, sausage, tomatoe's, cheese, onions etc...) Only to look back at the confusing menu to find that if I'd of ordered any of those choices it is 50cents each! My small hashbrown order could have become about $6 if I'd of gone along with her sales pitch!
