Well this is the 2nd time since 9/27/2018 (Pre-Covid) that I visited this Waffle House at 1801 W Baseline Rd, Guadalupe, AZ 85283 So I thought an update review was due. The restaurant was very clean and had three servers and a Chef. I really like the design of it as there were booths and a bar. This is a standard design of all Waffle Houses. I had my usual, a ham, cheese, onion, and mushroom omelette. It's great the way it's whipped in a mixer, then put into a pan with the ingredients. The hash browns were perfect and I don't want to forget the waffle-Yum! The coffee was really good also. The restaurant was really busy but service was nice and friendly. An honorable mention to the Chef who was super busy making the food. He did an outstanding job getting the orders out quickly and making sure it was perfect. This restaurant has a few older reviews that reflect some issues. Over the last year the majority are 5 Stars. Honestly, for what it is-this is a great restaurant! The business model and design of the restaurants are well thought out. The majority, as this one, is company owned. I was very surprised that omelettes were not on the menu. If I could give it 0 stars I would. This was my first time trying Waffle House after a late flight in and it will be my last. We were seated quick when we came in because there were only 2 other groups. We placed our order fast and the waitress was very nice. She's just not good at the job. She didn't check in on us at all nor checked in on our order. It's an open kitchen so you can actively see our food order getting taken to another table that came in after us by another waitress. Speaking of the kitchen it was a mess. Leftover food all over the waffle makers. I got up 3 different times to speak to them. Our eggs, toast, and hash browns came first after 45 minutes! Then it took another 15 minutes for 2 overly salted sausage patties to come. Then I had to complain about our waffles still not coming and only one came out after another 10 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous and even after saying all this the girl openly realized my waffle order got taken for a to-go order by OUR WAITRESS. I ended up canceling my waffle order and we left as fast as possible. Literally an hour and 30 min there. Never again. read more

Waffle House gets a bad rap from comedians like Jim Gaffigan, and it is quite obvious that Jimbo himself is a frequent frequenter of WH. Shaina at this location was an excellent server and the prices cannot be beat. The food at Waffle House is simple yet delicious. And I don't believe I have ever had a better waffle. The Waffle House waffle inscription is a very nice touch as well. Waffle House requires a few visits to get an idea of sizing. Pancakes and Waffles have gotten ridiculous in sizes thanks to the numerous mom and pop breakfast joints that make pancakes big enough to tarp a 747. Someone along the line thought this was a great idea, probably the same person who attends food eating contests. In reality both food competitive food eating and massive waffles and pancakes only perpetuate the fat American stereotype. It is repellent, glutinous, and flippant in the faces of those who have nothing to eat. Founded in 1955, Waffle House has 2,100 stores in 26 states, with an incomprehensible 263 restaurants in the Atlanta metro area. To put that into perspective, New York City has 197 Starbucks locations. Just get to any Waffle House you can. There's a reason why they're always busy. And bonus points for having a syrup jar and not rationing out syrup in small ramekins. read more

Amazing experience. We were behind a couple parties upon arrival and still managed to get seated in a reasonably timely manner. The service was good and our food came out looking amazing. Kudos to the chef, because there was only one and he was working double time to keep up with the orders. Unfortunately the staff here was being overworked by management. After working from presumably early in the morning, 5:30AM or so to well after 2PM and learning that one of your coworkers is getting "special" treatment and being able to go home early again, heck I'd crash out too. This 5 star review isn't for the managers and owners of this establishment, but for the staff on the floor rolling through the punches and clear blatant favoritism, while still being able to manage the day to day restaurant operations with such effectiveness. They are the true unsung heroes here. Without them, there is no Waffle House, at least not one that you or I can enjoy. read more

Despite being out of an item I wanted (the cherry syrup for my cola), the staff were amongst some if the most pleasant and delightful individuals to which I've ever had the privilege of knowing. I had my first Waffle House experience at this location and could not be more delighted. This place is filled with charm and I'm a bit jealous there are non in my area. Likes - full transparency. You get to see the servers working on food. It's amazing that they are responsible for taking orders AND making food - clean environment. I have favorite restaurants back home that aren't as clean as this place - I love the decor and styling. Most chain places have dropped nice touches like tile on the wall. - great prices and filling food. I had the special plate that included grits. The waffles were nice and fluffy and the grits were perfectly cooked with a lovely buttery taste. The bacon was crisp but had chew. - Coke drinks (the Diet coke was very crisp) - our server was very friendly and mostly attentive (I probably would have asked for drink refills if she wasn't so busy). - the flatware is good too. I hate when you go to a place that has great food but the utensils are so rough! - perhaps the greatest green flag for a restaurant is the fact that my kids really enjoyed the food Dislikes - this isn't the best place to go if you have a very large group. We were in town from Seattle, Washington. For my son's football tournament this past weekend. We stopped here for a quick bite to eat. I am originally from Los Angeles so it's so nice to get some GRITS! I am very picky with my grits because I grew up with my grandparents cooking them. My grits here were so BOMB! I loved my whole meal and so did my son. It wasn't the cleanest in here at all. But I enjoyed my food and customer service! I loved the atmosphere of the employees laughing and singing. It has to be your type of place though. If you what a quiet spot this ain't the place for you. I would suggest keeping the restaurant , tables and tops cleaner but my meal tasted like my grandma made it and I enjoyed it! Waffle was a little too crunchy too. I had the All Star Breakfast, which was a steal at $12.50. Wanted to try this diner even though it's probably as standard as any other diner but we don't have this in NY so I wanted to try it. I was starved after coming back from gallivanting around town and I came into the place like a storm. I was the only 1 in there with 2 lovely ladies working. I sat down in a booth and ordered a plain waffle, hashbrowns and sausage. They got to cooking while I sat patiently and hungry lol. The workers were fun. They were jamming to the songs and I joined in on the fun. It's all about the service here. The waffle and hashbrowns were standard and good for me to get again. I visited the Waffle House for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was so delicious. The service was the absolute best. Carlie & Arthea were so sweet, friendly and kind. The entire atmosphere was so nice, music playing and I loved that the whole staff got along and even included us in their conversation. I had the blueberry waffles and they were so good. I also tried the grits for the first time. Pretty good, reminded me of corn bread. Not a huge fan but worth the try. I also had eggs, sausage and toast. Their coffee was nice and strong just how I like it. Next time I'm out here to visit family, I'll definitely be back. This establishment sits right in front of the Ramada Wyndham where I'm staying. You need to fire the server named Maisha / MJ immediately. I just waited over an hour for a to-go order. I watched at least 10 to 15 parties come and go with their to-go food while I waited. She watched me sitting there and honestly I think she found it amusing. The manager Ryan did come over to me and personally apologize, but even then it still took a while to get my simple order because it turned out she never called it to the cooks -- even though I had paid my money. This woman is twisted and thinks that it's funny to play games with customers and their food. I'm a frequent patron of this Waffle House and usually have a good experience, prior to today. It was pouring rain and she figured why not save it and give it a new home! 3.5 years later, she went to her first Waffle House. That was me if you didn't catch that... Just the nostalgia we needed. Coming from the south, it's a comfort breakfast that's more than taste, it hold memories. Shay and the team at this location welcomed us with great energy, conversation, and service. My son will take the drive from LA often for the food, and we'll definitely stop at THIS location because of how friendly this team was. She came back to visit us several times, made a fresh pot of coffee for me, and ensured we were happy and satisfied. Service was impeccable and seemed GENUINLEY concerned about our well being. She should be working at 5 star restaurants! For the food: pretty damn good. Most of us had the All Star and a couple in our party had bowls. They loved the bowls and we loved the All Star breakfast. Hash browns were golden, crispy outside, warm and fluffy inside, and just overall delicious. Waffles are excellent buttery tasting goodness. Can't go wrong with Waffle House, assuming you're looking for a classic breakfast chain that has stayed true to their cuisine. We happened to stay near this Waffle House and weren't disappointed. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to our kids. We ordered the classics, which came out right away, seeing that we sat next to the kitchen, which allowed us to see the cooks at work. Our drinks came out right away, again assuming that sitting next to the kitchen does help. Overall fun experience and cost effective.
