This was the absolute worst service I have ever received in any restaurant or even a roach-coach roadside taco stand! I have always been generous enough to leave atleast a 10% tip when the service was bad. But today is the first time I ever leave without a tip. The restaurant wasn't even half occupied yet it took over a half an hour to get our meal. And to top it off, it came out in portions, not all at once. Last night was the scariest night of my life. As soon as we arrived to this place it was packed but we chose to stay and get something to eat and then all of sudden a guy comes in and screams to his group of friends "let's leave now" with a frightening face. I look outside and I see about 7 cars roaming around the parking lot and driving at high speed. I head out with my group of friends and notice these cars were all parked blocking everyone's way. I tried to get out but they were just in everyone's way. It was a group of scary looking men all around the building scaring everyone. I even saw a couple accidentally hit one of the cars trying to get out and the group starts violently kicking the couples car. Thankfully we managed to get out but I felt so bad for everyone who was there and was just as scared as we were. Worst experience ever we are never going back here. This was the worst waffle I have ever been ! I ate here on Sunday and asked for warm syrup and I received warm syrup. I came back today and order the same thing and was told they do not offer that, I then explained to the server that I was just here and could show my receipt that I was just here and I got warm syrup. She went to get the manager and instead of him coming over and talking with me he preceded to yell across the restaurant they he doesn't do warm syrup and caused a scene in the restaurant. Around 12 we decided to get our food to go and around 1 still had not received our food. There were people that came ate and went there were others like us and still waiting. So it was a little after midnight and finding that the hotel was charging $5 for a tv dinner, I decided I'd rather go out to get some food that would be about the same price and more filling. The staff here was really friendly and my order didn't take long. I ordered the All Star Special, standard waffle, eggs, sausage, hashbrowns. The food wasn't bad, but nothing more spectacular than Denny's or IHOP. The windows were all steamed up, which I thought was kind of weird, but whatev. Had a layover and needed somewhere to grab some food late. Landed here and boy I am glad we did. Got an order of hash browns "scattered, smothered, and covered" and a waffle. Waffle batter was just sweet enough. Hash browns were perfectly cooked and hit the spot. So much so that we order another large order and added ham and some gravy to the mix. best thing about Waffle House is hash browns. get them scattered, smothered, covered (which means smashed with onions and cheese). I try to get my hash browns this way whenever I go to other breakfast places too, but Waffle House is the original. really super friendly staff here. Absolutely the nastiest Waffle House I've ever been to. There were at least 5 flies flying around the restaurant and refrigerator area. Food service was slow. The food was horrible. The cook never cleaned the grill yet kept putting more food on it. Steak was over cooked, cooked bacon and sausage sat out for at least 20 minutes and then was attempted to be served to our table, the cook attempted to recook the meat- but again the grill was deplorable. It's 11:56 p.m. on Friday night I called we Waffle House to place a to-go order I'm new to Houston but the Waffle House in my hometown took orders all the time. The correlation between the two are that they are both 24-hour seven-day-a-week establishment. What is the difference between 11:42 p.m. and 11:42 a.m. none of the factors change number one I'm picking it up and number 2 they are open 24 hours.The lady tells me that they do not take to-go orders at this time of night. I have to come in and make my order and sit there and wait if I'm going to sit there and wait I would have not tried to call ahead. I am a regular customer here. The new salads they are offering are surprisingly good. The Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing is very tasty. The Pumpkin waffles they are offering for the holidays are also quite good. If you're lucky, Johnny will be cooking, he does a great job and is perfect with the eggs and is always extra friendly. While visiting Houston from Chicago I came to the Waffle House expecting to enjoy some good food. Katie our waitress brought out our plates 1 at a time meaning I received my Waffle first them my American breakfast I didn't complain until she brought our meat out and everything was done. She said she was still charging us for the meat because it came with the meal I asked for a manager and the manger took the meat off the bill.
