It was a good quantity of food for the price Service I was seated promptly and my server was Millie. She got every thing correct and checked on me a few times. Millie checked me out with a portable iPhone looking device. I paid the amount by credit card. The credit card never left my hands which is a great security plus. Ambiance The restaurant is located on the feeder road to I-45, it's not a pretty location. Inside the restaurant has big windows, it's airy and quite pleasant atmosphere. Stepped out of the truck and the wonderful smells of delicious food was inviting. Tiauna was warm and friendly. I was seated quickly. Really good Coffee arrived in a thick diner mug almost instantly. The menu was filled with every comfort food there is. I almost had to cheat on my diet until Tiauna flipped to the back of the newspaper menu (very unique). Avocado Toast with an egged saved my day! When it arrived the presentation was just beautiful. Now for the atmosphere. Woodsy mountainous decor was very inviting. Temperature was cool but not freezing. Black Bear was a pleasant surprise. Wanted to try something different from our regular breakfast place across the street. That was a mistake. It took an inordinate amount of time to be seated (and the place wasn't busy ... peering into the dining room there were only two other tables tots had guests). It took a long time to have a waitress come to us after we were seated and she seemed to be in engaged. Long gaps between water and juices being delivered and ordering of the food. The kitchen was relatively fast, but it just seemed like the entire service crew was moving in slow motion and seemed like they really didn't want to be there or serve their guests. Came here today for the second time but brought my husband along. We both ordered steak & eggs and the menu wasn't as crazy big as normal (today is Xmas) we ordered a mimosa which was good & then we both ordered steak and eggs. My husbands came out first and they apologized to us and told us they messed up and gave my plate to another table. It took a while for them to bring it out and honestly wasn't impressed for at 23 dollar plate. Our server Kim was the sweetest and apologized and we told her no need it wasn't her fault we heard what went on since their kitchen area is semi open. Kim was a great server !! I live very close to the Black Bear Diner in Tomball. I went there this afternoon and there was no hostess up front. I waited nearly 20 minutes - in view of the servers - to be seated. The server argued with me about the menu, which I tried to explain, but she was clearly unable to understand - I was charged extra for a side dish that was supposed to be included. I saw several patrons standing around in the lobby - also being ignored. The "Manager" was strolling around in complete oblivion of the situation. Another server brought my food with no gravy on the meatloaf and one of the sides was wrong. I pointed out the lack of gravy and he said he'd get it. Ten minutes later I see him talking to other tables, going about his business. He had clearly forgotten about my lack of gravy. I had to eat dry meatloaf before it got cold. The man at the next table insisted he would not pay for his wife's meal as it, too, was cold. My server passed by several times and never returned to refill my tea. As I was driving away, I warned another couple of the situation and they went elsewhere. This is the 3rd time I have visited and had sub-par service. They are cleared understaffed and the staff that they do have are young and inexperienced. I will never return there. read more

Black Bear is one of my favorite breakfast places in the Spring area. This was my first time visiting this specific location and I enjoyed it more than the location in Shenandoah. This one is a little smaller, but the environment feels cozier. I really appreciate all the effort that went into creating the theme of this restaurant. We came in a little later on Saturday morning and were seated right away. That's usually a little bit of a red flag during a restaurant's busiest time, but we had no issues with our visit! First of all, our waitress was phenomenal. She was busy, but never missed a beat. She was so nice! I didn't catch her name, but the server name on our receipt was Patricka, so I hope that's right! If so, I highly recommend requesting to sit in her section. One of the things I love most about Black Bear is that they don't skimp on the iced coffee. Most places you go for breakfast, you get unlimited refills on hot black coffee, but if you order iced coffee you're out of luck. It's usually served in pretty small glass. Black Bear makes your iced coffees in a glass big enough that you won't miss not getting refills. I had the cinnamon vanilla cold brew from their seasonal menu and it was really good. I also really like their sweet cream waffle. They even make it with a bear claw imprinted on the center. I've never eaten dinner here, but breakfast is always good. read more

Hit and miss. My shake was really good. You could tell it was real ice cream blended to make a shake. The burger was cooked exactly the way I asked, the bacon was cooked perfectly as well and the fries were seasoned well. My friend got the fish and chips and was not pleased but coming from a Wisconsin native there is a lot to live up to in fried fish. She did get the banana cream pie to go. The eggs were standard. Black Bear has their own hot sauce on the table and it actually was better compared to familiar brands. The hash browns were my least favorite, only the top had a small portion that was crispy. The rest of the hash browns was just soft shredded potatoes with no seasoning and I prefer my hash browns to be crispy. On top of that the hash browns was and addition so I should have left that off. First of all let me say that the restaurant was very clean and tidy. Our waitress was young and very friendly and answered our questions fully. She also was very attentive. We went a 11 am and the restaurant was quiet, which I love. Our food came in a timely manner and the portions were very nice. I had the patty melt and sweet potato fries and my friend had the caesar melt with same. The food was excellent and very much enjoyed. I took a blackberry bear claw to go. I was really hoping it would be fresh blackberries, but it was the gel filling. It was just average, but edible. Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely return to try more items. The back bear diner has never ever failed us!! We have tried so many different dishes mainly breakfast and lunch and have always left full and happy. Prices are good, you get BIG portions - we usually leave with a to go box. Sometimes there is a wait, but we usually get seated within 15 minutes.
