The choice was between Denny's and Waffle House. We decided on Waffle House since there are many locations near us in California, and it was conveniently just down the street from our hotel. Inside, nothing spectacular. It looks like a regular diner. Not very noisy, no fancy decor, just regular. The food was affordable. I ordered a simple breakfast: a blueberry waffle, eggs, and grits. I was satisfied with my meal overall, but I didn't like that they placed a cold slice of American cheese on my grits-- I expected it to be the real cheese, not the artificial cheese. Aside from that, the food was average, the service was excellent, and I will definitely return when we're back in Houston. But not ordering the grits w/ cheese again lol. read more

I've been some bad waffle houses but this one terrible . Whitney the manager on duty should be talked to the cook was waiting to continue cooking but she needed to clean the grill and she was walking around with a clip board checking inventory . We waited one hour for our meal and the cook only started doing his job because I got up to ask what was going on manager never excused the wait nor her self he asked her for keys to get something to clean the grill . Great food at a price you can't beat and is open 24. The melt bowl is so good even though I was sober. Everything mixes well and the cheese binds it all together. the waffle looks thin and floppy but it's actually crispy and dense when you're eating it. I love me some Waffle House...I decided have breakfast with family July 13th, and it turned into a syrup bath. Waffle House use to be one of my favorite places until this incident. First off, I go to pour syrup on my pecan Waffle, that I had buttered just right. Picking up the handle, the entire jar separated, syrup went on my lap, purse, my Grandman, then under the table to connect with the floor. Our waitress Selisa, apologize while moving us to another table and giving me a wet towel to clean off my clothes and purse. As we set up the new table, I called to her attention hair on my plate. She pulled it off with her hands, and removed my plate to fix a new one. As a family member, poured syrup on her Waffle, between syrup container and the deliverance of the plate hair was on her plate. So another family member checked his food and hair was on his plate. I then asked for the manager, she explained she has been on vacation, which didn't change the events taking place. She apologized, but that still was way to many incidents for anyone to deal with just for breakfast. So after a wait (expected on the weekend) we sat at a table they just wiped down with a clearly dirty rag as it left the table with a horrible stench. You come to Waffle House for the cheap food and not much else, although I do have to point out that service here was way off from other locations I've been to. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner foods but everything on the menu is available anytime. I usually opt for the t-bone steak and eggs, which for about $12 comes with hash browns and choice of toast. I came here on a weekday evening while on a business trip with a co-worker, who had never been to a Waffle House before. Since it was late there weren't very many customers, but still we had issues. First, our whole order came out quickly but they forgot our waffle...which didn't show up until about 20 min later when we were almost done eating. It was odd though because the waitress made our waffle instead of the cooks. When she finally brought it out, she didn't put it on our table and instead stood in front of us with her hand holding the plate's underside. We didn't know whether to just stare at it or take it from her hand since she didn't say anything and was just holding it in silence. Then when it came time to pay, the same waitress didn't seem like she knew how to process credit card payments including confusing which receipt to give us. Do not go here. Food is absolutely disgusting. The workers do not follow health regulations. Came here with 5 people. Food was brought out cold and one by one. Bugs were flying around and were dead on the floor. A mop bucket spilled over and the floors were still wet. The tables were dirty. While there 2 groups walked out after eating because it was unsanitary. We would have also but get bad that they already lost out on the money. This place needs to be remananged. The first time I came here the server argued with me about not wanting the meat on my plate with the all star special. And when I say argue I mean aggressive sarcasm explaining why taking the meat out means its not an all star special and that no one does that..... Cute. The manager was really nice and so was the cook who brought my plates over... another manager, didn't catch her name, also came by to check on me and bring me butter and jelly. By this time Rosie was back from getting her air and still She did not come by to check on me. Once I finished eating she came over to take my syrup, "did you need this?", I replied no and she takes it saying, "ok yeah thought so". EXCUSE ME? She then comes over to take my plates and let me know that she'll meet me up front for me to pay. I left a $1.45 tip on my $8 ticket just out of courtesy but I shouldn't have because she never spoke to me until it was time for me to leave and didn't even deserve a penny for what i got today! I typically leave the price of my food or just round all the way up to $20 when it's slow because I love Waffle House and I know how it is to work for tips. Cracker Barrel has been my breakfast restaurant for years. Over the past few months, i'm starting to realize Waffle House is also a good choice. I used to be able to share an entree and be full after the split. Not the case. I asked for a waffle with pecans - YOU MUST order with pecans at any location - it came out dark. I mean chocolate brown dark. Uh...can you remake this it is a little burnt? Okay great the 2nd time it was barely cooked. It didn't have that nice waffle crisp it was a limpy pancake.
