It's been a minute since I've been to a Waffle House and so I paid a visit to this location. I had a great experience. I came in around 8 am and was seated super fast. Our server came over to us quickly and our orders went in just as fast. The restaurant and our table was nicely cleaned. The coffee tasted good as well. When the food got to us it was hot and very well made. My hash browns were perfectly crisped and the waffle was everything I needed and exactly what I was craving for. This is a great Waffle House location with tons of people on staff. I think this would be the location I preferred compared to the others I live near. Visited this Waffle House a few miles from our hotel. The service was friendly and we were served our food quickly. Probably because it wasn't busy. - we have great timing.. I had the bacon, egg and cheese bowl. I don't have much to say...but it was delicious and served hot. It's a simply dish that could have been messed up easily. ZERO we went in to make our to go order at the counter and the lil girl behind the counter cleaned up all around us wiping down the spot where we were sitting! She NEVER spoke or even looked at us until we said who's taking orders? After waiting 6 mins in front of her. There were only 4 customers..who were all sitting and eating. Really disappointed. I walk in and every table is dirty. I pick a table to sit at and I get a snotty look and zero acknowledgement about getting to the table to clean it. I sat there for 5 minutes with no greeting or attention to my table. I got up and sat at a different dirty seating area. The waitress acted a little put off as well and asked if it's for here or to go. . I got slid some silverware , I had to go ahead and clean my area to eat at. All were just talking amongst themselves, standing around drinking chit-chatting and on their personal phones. The place is dirty/ nasty . Must have been a good 6 or 7 employees! I got to the register after I lost my appetite and the cashier stood there with her back to me & proceeded to keep her back to me with a hand held open that I guess I was supposed to hand her my check or my credit card but I could not figure out really what she was wanting and then she realized I did not have a check when she decided to turn in my direction. DISGUSTING Not only was the customer service the worst I've ever had at a Waffle House but there was hair in my food and the tables behind me. The waitress took a couples order before ours when we walked in and sat down first. She brought out food that wasn't mine then told me I could eat it and when I said I don't like the flavor of the item she looked at me crazy when I handed it back. When the couple who she took care of first was like 3 bites from being done she finally called our order. Patiently sitting through all of that just to find a medium length black curly hair in my food. Absolutely disgusting and the waitress wasn't gonna do anything about it. One morning we bravely tried Waffle House on Roosevelt Blvd Rt 17. Just wanted eggs. & toast. In the past I remember this place as messy. To our surprise we had a pleasant experience. The pancakes, eggs & home fries were hot & fresh and it hit the spot. Service was great. Even the coffee was good & not the watered down version. The only thing I should have brought with me was ear plugs. No control over the noise volume from other customers. Other than that, we had a great breakfast at a good price. read more

The service was terrible Thalia was an awful employee and argued with another employee every 5 seconds and acted like she had no sense! And I am a patient person but this was terrible. This one star review is specifically for the cook named Jamie who is extremely rude, has kicked me out of this Waffle House multiple times, and now refuses to cook for me. She is making my waitress cook my food right now as I type this review. Everyone else here is great. Jamie should probably find a job where she doesn't have to interact with customers. I used to come here 1-2 times a week and I never tip below $5 (20% of an average Waffle House order is not even enough to buy a 20oz soda anymore). After Jamie swore at me and yelled at me and told me to never come back (October 2024) I did not return for 4 1/2 months. When I tried to come back, Jamie told me to leave and that i was "banned from here" but every single waitress has told me she does not have the authority to ban me and asked me to please come back. Jamie does not normally work on Mondays so tonight's visit has become surprisingly awkward and unpleasant. Five stars for literally everyone else who works here, negative five stars for Jamie. EDIT TO ADD that Jamie started an argument with me before I could even start eating my food. I was not speaking to her or even looking in her direction and she intentionally provoked me into an argument and I will never return here again, which made her very happy to hear. When I first moved to Jacksonville over 17 years ago, I lived in Riverside. We frequented this Waffle House at least twice at week, if not more. Of course, that was the old one... well before they tore it down and built this one in its place. Nevertheless, it still sits on the same ground and when going in, I can't help but feel a little nostalgic. It's still your typical Waffle House where you can always get a great breakfast 24/7. I'm pretty picky about my over-medium eggs and they always cook them perfectly here. I even made sure to compliment the cook the other day on what a great job he did. I know they are just eggs, but you'd be surprised at how many people can screw up an over-medium egg request! This Waffle House is nice and clean. You'll be welcomed as soon as you walk in the door. I really like the servers here; they are all very friendly. They stay on top of things such as refills, yet they don't hover. I like that. I had some serious jonesing for a WaHo breakfast for a long while and my husband finally relented and took me here. I was thrilled to see the new building is nice and clean and there was more than enough parking. Not that it made a difference, there were only two other tables filled. My husband soon regretted it when we realized that this place was slow. Like injured tortoise slow. We were greeted and the waitress kept apologizing and saying she would be with us as soon as she could. Never figured out what she was doing. I looked at the menu and passed the point of leaving, I wanted my damn breakfast. My husband was not happy with me. She finally arrived at the table (and with TWO more departures), took our order. Another slow waiter wandered over and realized that we had been there for quite awhile, not complaining, and went and brought us our drinks. Then, finally, the food came out, bits at a time, but we didn't care because it was being taken from the grill to the plate straight to us. We each ordered the All-Star breakfast just to make it easy: we all had over-medium eggs, white toast and bacon. Husband & daughter had grits with cheese and plain waffles, I had hash-browns (smothered, covered & capped: onions, cheese & mushrooms) and a pecan waffle. How was the food, you ask? Well, even my bad mood hubby relented and said the wait was worth it. One of the reasons why I LOVE WaHos is that the food is, in my experience, consistently good and there are no surprises. The over-medium eggs were perfect with cooked whites and fabu runny yolks, bacon was perfectly crisp, the grits were creamy, the hash-browns were crunchy brown on the top and soft on the bottom (the add-ons were very generous), and the waffles were great. No - their waffles were great, my PECAN waffle was freaking fabulous. Light and airy with LOTs of pecans mixed in. The perfection of my breakfast is the reason why I did not take a star away for the slowness. The quality of the food for the price we paid is a bargain. read more

Yes I know it's pretty crazy to get four stars to a Waffle House. ... Waffle house is what it is, you know what you're going to get and you know what to expect. This particular one is quite clean and extra friendly. The girls who work at the counter are always nice and helpful and ready to refill your drink without even having to ask. The grill cooks are extremely fast and everything looks good when it comes out. Today the guy next to me was eating raisin toast and wow that smelled excellent. I know there is no skill and preparing raisin toast but the fact that they have it is pretty cool. My wife and I just went to this place and sat at the high-top bar for breakfast, we sat their for 5 minutes and these POS waitresses ignored us and served people that came in before us! These POS waitresses need to be fired! We waited almost 10 minutes and said hello a couple of times but they continued to ignore us. Ok Well there plenty of Food pics on here and must say overall Waffle House does have very Consistent and Good Food. We pretty much always get a Ham and Cheese Omelet. I get a waffle with mine and Wife gets Smothered and covered hashbrowns. So for the food is a 4 to 5 star. Now unfortunately with this visit the Service was a 1. Server Couldn't figure out that a just wanted a Omelet by itself and a Waffle by its self. So it was hard to get the order in. This is one of the better locations in Jacksonville. The service is good...refills are brought often and orders are correct and come out quickly. The employees are always smiling and welcome customers as they enter. The restaurant is kept clean and orderly.... The food is fresh and always tastes great no matter what you order. I typically or the Texas Bacon Lovers BLT.... I can't get enough BACON! It's very good... The bacon is always cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of crispness. Everyone has preferences and if I had to say that any Waffle House was MY Waffle House, it's this one. I was going to this Waffle House for years before the tear-down and rebuild. It's not the place that introduced me to Waffle House (that was in Pensacola), but it was the one that I most frequented upon my arrival and subsequent stay in Jacksonville. I hadn't gone to check it out until yesterday because you don't go to Waffle House by yourself. A friend of mine, who is getting ready to move to Cali, is trying to fit in as many southern quirks as possible before he leaves. I told him to pick anywhere that he wanted to eat and he said Waffle House. With that, a solution to my conundrum. I never order anything other than breakfast at Waffle House. So I got my usual hash browns and some eggs, as I wasn't in the mood for a waffle. My friend, however, got the All American breakfast and the most yummy looking chocolate chip waffle. My only qualm is that our waitress forgot to bring us our drinks all together. We got them as we were finishing up eating. Other than that, my meal is exactly what I expected at Waffle House and I'm glad to have this location back for late night gatherings. read more

We crave burgers many times throughout the week and when we don't want to fuss, we head down Roosevelt and go to Waffle House. One of the biggest bonuses of moving back to Florida was having Waffle House in your "backyard." You just can't find them in Los Angeles. There is something nostalgic about sitting in one of their booths and knowing you're going to have a very tasty meal made to order with amazing value! This particular location was built last year so it's super clean and new with a jukebox to boot. Although this last visit, I didn't order my usual pecan waffles, it was still an enjoyable experience. Following my review of Dunkin Donuts, just right next to it is the Waffle House. For me its a novelty since we do not have this chain on the westcoast, though we have Pancake Houses now which is damn near the same thing just more expensive and not open 24/7. I always get the Giant Waffles with country ham and home fries with sweet tea. During my stay in Jacksonville it was super humid and at night the windows fogged up like no other; you also get greeted by toads climbing all over the windows; it truely is a sight. This was also the first time i came in contact with an Armadillo, i thought Possums were bad in Cali but the Armadillo is no joke. read more

Waffle House #54 is reborn like a phoenix from the ashes. After 41 years this location has a new building, every thing is new and worth a visit. Large amounts of positive energy at the NEW Roosevelt Waffle House. The second you walk in you receive a warm welcome and we found a seat at the low counter. Staff is buzzing behind the counter and food is prepared in plain sight. The service is attentive and food came out fast. I decided on the Blueberry Waffle served with Hash Browns and side of Country Ham ( bone in). It was a good waffle and I enjoyed the country ham it was salty as it should be. She had Ham Omelet with toast. Too much butter in the Omelet but we would try again. We will be back and this is an above average food experience for a chain Restaurant. I was hankerin' for late night diner food so we visited the new (renovated?) Waffle House in our neighborhood. My husband told me this is a Southern institution so I had to try it. Walking in we were welcomed by a loud chorus of staff and we decided to seat ourselves in one of the booths. There seemed to be twice the number of staff than were really necessary; everyone was upbeat and energetic and kept the place abuzz. I ordered a plain waffle (thicker than I was expecting and poured unevenly, but good), 2 eggs over easy (cooked perfectly), bacon (crisp), and grits, capped (with mushrooms). Also came with white toast which I skipped due to my waffle. My husband ordered a ham & cheese omelet with hash browns covered (with cheese) and topped (with chili). I think it's such a fun idea to have toppings on your standard hash browns! If I had any room left in my stomach, I would have ordered a slim slice of triple chocolate Sara Lee pie for $1.05! I can't tell you how excited I am that the Waffle House by *my house* is good! It checks off EVERYTHING you are looking for in a good Waffle House experience checklist. *The Waffle is fluffy, tasty, and soaks up that butter and syrup beautifully. *The booths are cozy (if a little small) with a fun view of the train across the street much to the delight of my daughter. *Tori, our waitress, was the most personable and pleasant server I have had an encounter with in a long time. *The Hash Browns "Scattered" (made extra crispy) and "Covered" (with cheese) really hit the spot. *The "All American Meal" at $7ish is a steal of a deal with a Waffle, Hash Browns, Sausage, two eggs cooked any way you like, and toast! I did not try the coffee so I cannot speak of the quality of it unfortunately. However, we had a delightful time eating at Waffle House for dinner last night and I am sure there will be many more return trips. read more
