We were on our way home from an epic catfishing weekend in Tulsa Oklahoma. It's the first of August on a Saturday afternoon. We are getting hungry when we spot the friendly oasis of breakfast, Waffle House! We swerve across traffic and lean into the corner to arrive at a non descript Waffle House in Joplin Missouri. In we go after my beautiful wife takes a cringey selfie in front of the Waffle House sign. Greeted by employees with the friendly sass of a home town diner we sat at the bar and ordered breakfast with grits and a waffle. It came quick and perfect. The eggs were perfectly sunnyside and the toast was the perfect toastyness!! The bacon was crispy and salty like good old American loving bacon should be. The atmopshere was exactly as you would expect it to be from the memes. There were no cops there at this visit which we found to be a bonus. Our server Randy visibility hated his job and life but was great to visit with and did a great job. I like this WH location because Joplin is my halfway point and I have eaten here before. I can't remember what time of day it was last time but it's 9:30 pm now. I get to have fresh food grilled to order no matter what time you stop in at good old reliable WH. Waffle House's are always clean and service is always good and friendly. You can depend on it 24/7 which is extremely helpful when traveling through towns you may not be familiar with. I ordered my usual Cheeseburger and Hash Browns, Scattered, Smothered. My food was delicious. Nobody does hash browns quite like Waffle House. They are very unique in my opinion. read more

For starters, the service was incredibly quick. We got our food about five minutes after we ordered. Our waitress was not very talkative, but she was very friendly and attentive. I got the jalapeño hash browns with a chocolate chip waffle. The jalapeños were just the right amount of spicy. And the waffles were delicious. My parents said their food was delicious as well. I've been wanting to try one for years. It was super busy, but somehow the food got done in a reasonable amount of time. The waffles and accompaniments were all great. The portions were generous especially given the reasonable price. I was very happy with my experience. They work so hard and do a nice job. Excellent Waffle House! Would have rated it a 5 star but there were a couple dings on perfection. Food was well prepared, fully meeting my double jalepeno expectations, by Daequan He also caught the sliced tomatoes up to my wife's order just in time. What didn't catch up, surprisingly, was the coffee, which came well after our food was being eaten. Kyrsten represented well, moved competently but seemed to be playing injured. On a trip from North Country, I was looking forward to some great Waffle House hash browns and by god, this Waffle House was all that and a bag of chips! Our service was prompt and friendly. It was around 9 pm so it was pretty sparse in here but that was quite alright. I ordered my usual, Triple Hash Browns, smothered, covered, capped and diced with a waffle and coffee. It was awesome! Our server was very attentive throughout our visit and even shared a nice chat with her. Bathrooms and the store looked very clean and well taken care of which is a hard thing to find in a 24 hour diner but very much appreciated. On our way back home from vacation, we stopped here to grab a bite and use the restroom. Let me say that Waffle House is generally never a place that I want to stop for a restroom break. All locations that I've visited in the past are usually dirty in the dining areas and the restrooms are even worse. Let me tell you, when we stepped into this location, we were pleasantly surprised. First off, the staff greeted us energetically when we opened the door. This wasn't just some oh-let-me-say-Welcome-because-I-have-to; it was a robust "Welcome to Waffle House" with smiling faces and we were told to sit anywhere we like. We head straight to the restrooms (I'm really dreading this because I'm a germaphobe) and I open the door to a clean and well stocked ladies room. I was genuinely surprised and pleased. My husband and son said the men's room was also very clean, which they were excited about. Now, off to our seat we go to order our food. As soon as I got to the table, I noticed that the menus were clean and the counter was spotless. I also saw that the salt and pepper shakers, ketchup bottle, and mustard bottle were all clean and smudge/debris free. I couldn't believe my eyes. Dirty condiments are a huge pet peeve of mine and the were immaculate here. The waitress greets us, gives us our silverware, and asks us what we'd like to drink. I'm looking at my fork, spoon, and knife, just in awe that they're all spotless. Out of habit from my trips to WH, I order my drink in a To Go cup because, inevitably, one of us gets a dirty cup every visit at the locations near our home in Oklahoma. Although, I'm sure it wasn't necessary to do so here, as this place is the cleanest WH I've ever been to. I guess my shock and awe spilled out of my mouth because I said, audibly, that this was the cleanest WH that I've ever seen and the waitress thanked me for saying so. Anyway, the waitress takes our order and calls it out in traditional WH fashion. The cooks repeat the order and respond in appropriate chef-speak. They're cooking and moving and getting sh*t done. The lady that I believe to be the Manager is helping to run the show. She's reminding the cooks of what goes where and that XYZ item is needed on this or that plate. She's double checking that everyone has what they need and is on the appropriate task. She does this in a very respectful, efficient, and appropriate manner. This is a very well-oiled machine that they have here. The flow was nice to watch. Everyone was kind to one another. There were no staff members with attitudes or any people being lazy off in another room or anything like you'd see at other Waffle Houses. I am so impressed and I just really hope that this review encourages others to stop here when they're in the area. Seriously guys, this WH should be a training center for all staff across the country. There are definitely valuable lessons that could be learned from the staff here. To recap- the food, service, and cleanliness were all wonderful. The location is right off the highway, so it's very convenient. The Joplin location is no exception to this, and is always a good place to go shovel breakfast food into your mouth while nursing a hangover bordering on alcohol poisoning. The food? You can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but if you want the largest quantity of hangover-busting food for the best value, get yourself an All-Star breakfast. I got tired of trying to guess employee schedules to know if the food was going to cooked well, and even then it depended on the cook's mood. When we went in to order, Jeremy told us there was no to go orders on weekends because it's so busy. There were two tables that had people at it - not super busy but thought okay rules are rules. So we sat and said could we order and have a to go box. They said no! Jeremy said it was the same difference. This was the worst restaurant experience of my life. I have worked in food service multiple times and am usually understanding on staff being a little slow. This is not one of those time where I could be. My friends and I went there to eat and majority of our orders were wrong. My boyfriend didn't even get his waffle until after we were all done eating. I had to find the staff and ask they to make it 2-3 times. The staff was not great, they didn't ask if we needed anything at all and acted as if we weren't there at all. When asked about how our food was we were honest and politely told them it wasn't the greatest (because of the service and orders being wrong). As we were leaving we received threats from "regulars" and staff. My friends and I DID NOT feel safe at all. This is absolutely unacceptable. You should be able to walk in and out of a restaurant feeling safe. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

This Waffle House is much friendlier than the one in Webb City and my husband and I just recently started going, a lot, we just eat eggs and meat so for a cheap breakfast this is the place to go! You walk in and are welcomed by everyone! My husband has decided to make this his go to place for him and our kids when mommas at work, it's cheap and decent, only thing I can't stand is the condiments but that's my own personal thing, their coffee cream is non dairy, they don't have real butter and their jelly has hfcs in it but I don't go there for those things. They do have omelets!!! Which I didn't know until I went to this location! Kinda bummed because we have been to Springfield and didn't know. read more

I recently took my first trek to Waffle House in over a decade. It hasn't changed much, from the atmosphere, to the wait staff's ponytails, to the Blind Melon and Staind on the jukebox. With that said, it wasn't bad at all. My boyfriend and I had smothered hash browns and egg & cheese biscuits. The hash browns were great but the biscuit tasted like nothing. Nevertheless, our bill was less than seven bucks before tip. You don't find a breakfast that cheap most places. Definitely VERY smoky even in the nonsmoking section, due to the restaurant's size. I had to wash my clothes to get the scent of grease and Marlboros out. I would probably return sometime if this restaurant went non-smoking. read more
