Solid food done quick As a ct native, I've never really been to a waffle house. Since I came to Florida on a whim, had to check out this breakfast institution. The flurry of activity behind the counter was impressive. Messy, but fast. The plates of food were going out at a staggering pace that was impressive to watch. The food, pretty good. The waffle was crisp but chewy. The blueberries were okay but didn't really add to the waffle. The chili hash was meaty and crispy, cooked hard but still had a good texture. It's not great food, it's good food done quick abd realatively cheap. You don't go here for gourmet, you go here for the well done basic fare. For my first try, it was good enough. This is a bit of a struggle to review. I love their food. It's fast, it's cheap , it's delicious. There is a rustic and savory taste to their cuisine. The problem is simple. This place has a very eclectic clientele. You will see all types of people at this establishment. My wife refuses to eat here because she is fearful of getting shanked. I try to convince her that the waffles are worth the risk of bodily harm. But she disagrees. And she is semi brave, she once ate at a restaurant in Winter Haven ! But despite the lady sitting directly in my field of vision that sneezed and snot dripped down her face and chin (yes, that really happened ), This place can rock a delicious breakfast meal! I had stopped in with my girlfriend to have some late breakfast. I ordered my food which was a hefty order I'm skinny and have a fast metabolism but I ordered a big meal the waitress woo was amazing. But the cook was complaining about making my order. Just snark remarks every second he got. As I walk out he states "we gotta close after that order". Other remarks include "nah he's bugging tf out" "who tf orders this" I was very Disappointed in my service I received here. I get it it's fast food pretty much but you applied to work the position you are working. The fact that he felt so comfortable saying all that would give me the assumption that he talks like that in front of customers often. Which is not ok and maybe management is ok with it. read more

FINALLY made it to a Waffle House. They don't have these in California, but I wish they did - grits an all. The service staff seemed to enjoy working with each other and were pretty friendly as well. Food is simple. You can't have much expectation here, and for the price you get quite a lot of food. My eggs were cooked a little too much but otherwise my blueberry waffle was a bit too sweet. I can't complain though, I enjoyed the food quite much and maybe that's heavily to do with me wanting to try a Waffle House for years. read more

our family of 6 came in this morning from out of town and the food was very good. our waitress was Shelli & she was phenomenal. Shelli and Kay were both very attentive, entertaining, kind and caring towards us and our children. I cannot recommend the two of them any more, they were absolutely phenomenal!! if we ever travel this way again, I truly hope we get to see them again. they deserve a raise and some sort of recognition for the way the go above and beyond in their job. The service and wait staff were friendly and helpful. The tables were clean. The food was not up to the normal Waffle House standards. I ordered the Fiesta Omelette with grits. The omelette was cold with unmelted cheese. It looked more like a scrambled eggs with veggies. The grits were very runny. Overall I was disappointed. read more

The whole time I was in here, I felt like I had been transported in time to some 1970's truck stop in Wichita. 90% of the patrons were men, and most of them had on the typical cliched outfit of a trucker hat and plaid shirt. There was a jukebox, which i was dying to play since there was the enticing lure of a Waffle House jingle selection, but since everyone looked very hard-nosed and business minded, I didn't dare. I ordered...what else, but a waffle, which was tasty, but I had to eat it plain since the "butter" was this hideous chemical spread and the "syrup" was on par with Aunt Jemima (vile). A side of sliced tomato arrived shockingly tiny, pink and mushy, which would have been acceptable in Ohio, but certainly not in a place where the growing season lasts 12 months. Bacon was acceptably crisp, but unremarkable. If you are on any kind of diet, it might be wise to steer clear of this chain as they really only give low-calorie and "healthy" options only the slightest nod. You are coming here for coffee, giant piles of hashbrowns and patty melts. The service was adequate, but not terribly pleasant or chatty. The place could also use a serious overhaul in terms of updating the decor. read more

Got bacon medium wasn't medium but that's was fine and triple hash with gravy and jalapeño and got back home to eat and wasn't enough gravy or jalapeño for the servings so I went back I didn't worry about the jalapeño but I needed more gravy and they made us pay $1.00 even though they barely put any in the first place and it still wasn't enough I'm going to post a picture to show how dry you get gravy for it to be smothered not for it to be like plain hash .... 2-10 the one in plant city always does a good job on the portions of gravy vs hash def worth the drive over there to avoid this Waffle House again read more

Best Waffle House I've ever tried. I thought of Anthony Bourdain when I ate the perfectly cooked scattered, smothered and covered hash browns. They were exquisite! The scrambled eggs with cheese was also a delight - just perfect except for a little hint of that cheap oil everyone uses these days. Toast was just right, and the coffee was not too hot. Shy, my server, was always checking to see if I needed anything. From now on, when I pass through Lakeland, I will eat here. read more

The Waffle House is a greasy spoon and it's fantastic! If you're looking for a good meal stop in to any Waffle House across the country. The staff at all the locations I've visited have always treated my friends, family and myself fantastically! I've visited roughly 20+ Waffle Houses while traveling and I have yet to visit one location that I thought was clean. It seems to me, the locations that Waffle House has their restaurants placed are smaller in size and usually offer a limited lot. The ascetics and food of Waffle House is what makes their locations a landmark, in any community. However I'm ready to see the Waffle Houses across the country renovated! read more

I went to this location because of all the positive reviews, but my visit was very disappointing. The host sat us at a dirty table, it took about 4 min for our server to greet us, she had to make coffee for us, employees walking around with food drinks and ear buds in, which is why they had to repeat orders to the cook. Probably the worst Waffle House experience I've ever had. The food tasted good but looked different... My omelet was just folded over a piece of unmelted cheese. Stopped by this location multiple times on our recent Spring Training trip. Food was consistently good. Had same waitress each time and she was very friendly. A little crowded on Satruday, so it was nice that they had a host to direct traffic. Overall, a very good spot for a quick, hot, good breakfast. read more
