We were headed home mid-morning on Sunday, Labor Day weekend and decided to stop for a late breakfast. I grew up in the South where there's a Waffle House at nearly every expressway exit. Now, living in the Midwest, I love finding a good Waffle House. I had scrambled eggs with cheese and grits. They made the eggs perfectly. Sometimes, restaurants think scrambled eggs with cheese means plop down a slice of American cheese on top of the scrambled eggs -- nope! Waffle House does it right -- put the cheese in the eggs while cooking so it's melted with the eggs. Yummy! Grits were hot and not lumpy -- perfect. DH had the waffle and it was perfectly crispy. I haven't eaten here in a long time and decided to come in for breakfast. It wasn't too busy, about 5 other tables occupied. We were told to seat ourselves. The vent was blowing cold air which wasn't ideal during winter but I guess the cook was hot. One of the waitress had to put her jacket on too. Our server was nice and she we new. She did a good job. Our food came out as expected with no issues. I will say next time i won't order crispy because whew, it was too crispy but hey, that's what I asked for. I stumbled upon this Waffle House location while trying to find a place to eat breakfast late in the day. Being new to the area, my directions had me going in circles, so I decided to stop here and I'm glad I did. The restaurant wasn't very busy, and I took a seat at the counter. The first thing I noticed was a little boy playing on a chair nearby. He introduced himself to me and proudly told me who his mommy was--she was working behind the counter and actually ended up taking my order. I happened to arrive right at shift change, but the way the staff handled it was impressive. The waitress who was leaving took my order and smoothly communicated everything to the incoming staff. Everyone worked together like a true team, clearly doing their best to make sure customers were taken care of and happy. I was very satisfied overall. The only small issue was the waffle I asked for it crispy, and it came out far from that. Still, the meal was filling and gave me exactly what I needed at that moment. I don't usually choose Waffle House, mostly because of all the negative things you hear on social media, but this visit completely changed my perspective. Watching the staff work together through a shift change while keeping customers satisfied was honestly refreshing. It's fine, it's my first time at a Waffle House and it was decent. It was in a questionable area, with some questionable people also there as customers, staff were freindly. We went on thursday at 10:30 am so crowds were light. Somewhat skecthy vibe but overall it was not too bad. Floors and everything else was pretty dirty. That makes it a must stop destination when you're someplace they are available. We have a Cracker Barrel, but our Cracker Barrel sucks... Waffle House is everything I remember them being... This was a horrible experience, from the time I walked in and the time my food was being made there was nothing but bad vibes. The cook came out the back with a horrible attitude, when she began to cook she had no hair net on despite have long hair tied to the back. The waitress couldn't remember my order and even placed my food in front of another customer thinking it was hers. Waffle House is one of my guilty pleasures and this Maryland Heights location never disappoints. Great place to get a reasonably priced sit down breakfast fast. In my opinion, Waffle House makes the best hash browns of any restaurant. You can customized with your own toppings. I order smothered (onions), diced (tomatoes) and capped (mushrooms). I tried the Blueberry Nougat waffle for the first time. Pretty tasty. And the coffee is always hot. Onye was our waitress today. She was pleasant and kept the coffee coming. She also greeted the regulars by name and asked if they were having their regular order. AJ at the grill was cranking out the food. Food is okay but now they are charging a surcharge for eggs that makes their breakfast too expensive for what you get. Coffee was weak like they didn't use enough coffee. This is my second ATTEMPT to order 2 chicken Texas melt one with bacon and egg one without and lettuce tomato mushroom i had to remind the cook no bacon the sandwich then with an attitude he threw the sandwich away and said it would be another 10 minutes this is a lunch break which is 30 minutes it took 13 minutes for him to even put the chicken on the grill there's no sense of urgency i will be adding a review on yelp aswell as google and facebook i have managed multiple fast food aswell as done as fine dining establishments. I like coming to this Waffle House but some of the employees need to be mindful that people are watching. Don't be sweeping the floor, cleaning plates, playing with your phone and taking orders then turn around and pull a waffle off the waffle iron without washing your hands. Come on. There was one time I saw a guy take the trash out and this is at night came back in and started cooking without washing his hands or no gloves on. TL:DR - Standard waffle house rating. The steak was below par, even for waffle house expectations, but it is a newer and probably cleanest waffle house I've been in. So it evens out. Alright guys, it's a Waffle House. a 3 star should be par for the course. Laminated menus/placemats are sticky, the food is subpar, and if you don't know what you're getting into when going here. That's on you. Came in on a Saturday night. Fairly empty, the A/C was blasting HIGH though. I get it's summer, but geez. Ordered a steak and eggs, again not expecting much, but what I got was still a bit sub-par even for those expectations. The steak was literally the thickness of a sheet of cardboard. At that point, why even ask me what done-ness I like it. The moment you brown the outside, it's also brown on the inside. Again, my fault for assuming it would match the photo. Wanting breakfast and a good waffle, I thought that I would go to the Waffle House located in Maryland Heights on Dorsett. When I entered, I was pleased that it was not crowded and thought I would get in and out without any problems. The waitress was training an employee and waiting on a customer at a table before me. They had the trainee take my drink order, with no problem and the waitress took the food. Most of my meal came out quickly. While waiting for the last of my order, I noticed that the floor was filthy and because of where I was sitting I also observed that the trainee was cleaning the tables with a dirty towel. I could see the trash cans were full, food and paper were spilling out onto the floor and no one was picking it up. As I approached the cash register, I noticed that the stove, waffle maker, and all the cooking areas were filthy. I did mention it to the cashier, who said that they were in the process of cleaning the area. If I had noticed any of this before I sat down, I would have walked out. Not sure who the manager is, or if they were on-site. They need to be aware or someone will report this place to the Board of Health. read more

I've never been to a Waffle House before, so I didn't really know what to expect. I've been told other locations are better, but the service here was absolutely atrocious. The food, nothing really stood out at all, just normal breakfast food of hash browns eggs waffles etc. I got to try pretty much everything, hash browns, t-bone steak, eggs, pecan waffle, texas toast, sausage, and chili; I would say that the pecan waffle was the best thing out of everything I got to try. The chili was terrible even though one of the servers said "it is a good batch". When getting our checks, our server checked us out 1 by 1, bringing 1 check, taking that card, coming back, leaving, taking the tip for that card, leaving, coming back with check #2, repeat for everyone in our group. Hard to find anything to ever say negative about the waffle house except for the greasy spoon that they are already known for. Some are less cleaner then others but the menu is the same and the pricing ad well. The most important thing is the wait for me. Some have been extremely long and I don't mean waiting for a table. We all know that the wait is based on how fast the kitchen is getting food out which in turn lessens the wait. This one was staffed and ready for Sunday flow. Table turns were fast and the service was good coffee cup stayed full and we weren't overly serviced. Food was great and the experience was fine. Good job! read more

This is the best Waffle House I've ever been too, from coast to coast. Service was crazy friendly, fast, and accurate without being overbearing or weird. Food was cooked exactly as ordered--crispy bacon and well done hash browns to boot. Coffee was fresh despite the odd hour (945am). This is, by far, the cleanest Waffle House I've ever been to--but not *too* clean, ya know? The staff was also well kept. Uniforms and aprons pretty fracking spotless. The dude running the flat top? John the manager was great and very accommodating. My wife is GF due to Celiac and he made sure to get her food just right. The 4 of us had excellent service and the food was tasty and very prompt. I don't usually like coffee, but I really like theirs. Of course you have to try a waffle as they are always really good. I came here with a group of 6 late one night and the place was basically empty. It's pretty small and the interior very much resembles your typical diner. The service was pretty good and the waitress was really polite and helpful. The food itself was nothing remarkable. I got the Texas Bacon Egg & Cheese Melt and there wasn't anything special about it. I got a couple packets of the Waffle House sauce to top it off but even that wasn't spectacular. The hashbrowns that came with it were alright, but again nothing special about them. Thankfully the Waffle House does deliver on their waffles. I split a Chocolate Chip Waffle with a friend, which was by far the best part of the meal. This place is great for if you have the late night munchies! If you're looking for a nice breakfast I would advise you to pursue other options. read more
