I often eat at Waffle House while traveling, but I have never had a worse server than the openly contemptuous woman who took forever to take my order, twice as long to serve it, got it wrong, and basically treated me like she didn't want me eating there on 11/24/25. Anybody can have a tough day, so I want to be merciful, but she started my day off on the wrong foot and nagged at me all day. I regretted tipping her out of habit; she deserved a dressing-down not a 15% tip. First, she ignored me for a long time, then took orders from several people who got there after I did. During the order, I specifically asked for a crispier, not floppy waffle, yet she brought me the floppiest pale yellow waffle I've ever had at the restaurant, to the point where I sent it back. She never came around with more coffee, I had to repeatedly ask for it, and the last time she brought a nearly empty pot that half-filled my cup, and never came back. She never brought my check and I sat and sat, finally went up to get my bill. I could've just walked out, I'm sure. Whoever this terrible server is, she's short, squat, and has a tattoo on her breastplate just below her neck. Very bad representative of Waffle House, a place where I customarily find the service friendly, and Nashville, a city that's already got a growing negative reputation for un-Southern rudeness and inhospitality. Maybe it was my fault for being non-black and a woman, but when I went to this Waffle House, on Hwy 70S by Interstate 40 and the recycling station, on June 19, 2026, between 6:00 and 10:00p.m., I was mostly IGNORED by our waitress; she had long black hair and a pale face. She made me wait ten minutes for a Coke refill (they weren't very busy) and then brought me sweet tea, which was what my husband and his male friend were having. She gave our friend a spoon with his grits, but I had to wait about fifteen minutes before she even brought me my grits, and she didn't even give me a spoon. When I asked for a spoon our waitress rolled her eyes; fortunately she didn't have to even take a step away from where she was standing, so I got the spoon fairly quickly. Worst waitress I have ever encountered in all my travels. I'll be telling EVERYONE who reads any social media available exactly what happened at this Waffle House all about this "dining experience" during which I could barely hear my companions speak because the workers were hooting and hollering so loudly. Where was the manager? Does the owner not care enough about the business he/she/they do at this Waffle House? Doesn't seem like it. read more

When we walked in the two young people, one was the cook, looked at us as if we were an inconvenience. The only one that spoke to us was our waitress which was an older lady. Rear truck drivers and eat at waffle houses all over the US and have never been treated so poorly. read more

Who doesn't love a Waffle House? Originally from Michigan I only got to go when on vacation, as we don't have them up north. Now that I live in Nashville they are everywhere! I don't go often, but whenever my parents are in town visiting from up north they insist. This location is just down the road from my apartment, and I'm glad. I've been to many and this spot has some of the friendliest staff I've met yet. They smile, they chat, they get to know you, all while being efficient and quick with your order. I am a creature of habit at Waffle House. Always get a pecan waffle and side of sausage with a water and a Diet Coke. I'm sure it's a machine that pumps them out so uniform, but I don't even care. Waffle is cooked perfectly every single time! Love the crunch of the pecan and the toasty flavor it gets while being cooked. Never a long wait even if there is a line. I love waffles, I really do. It was lunch time though and no one was offering breakfast menu items anymore. Cue the always reliable, breakfast served all day, Waffle House. I went to the nearest one and was pleasantly surprised. It was clean, the staff was very friendly, attentive, and happy. The grilled chicken sandwich came with a full chicken breast that hung out the sides of the bun. Amazing! My hash browns were delicious and cooked perfectly. I'm not a Waffle House regular but I've been to at least 5-6 different Waffle Houses in 4-5 different states. This is hands down the best one I've ever dined in. read more

It's the 4th of July, 2021. The fireworks and celebrations in Nashville are the biggest ever. Over 100,000 attend by some estimates. As the crowds disperse at about 11:30pm, I decide to get my Waffle House fix on my way home to Pegram. First stop is the Charlotte Pike location off I-40. Whoops, they are only offering carry out even though they are listed as open 24 hours. No problem, I decide to move on to this location in Belleview. This time, I am greeted in the parking lot by a frazzled looking young man who gives me the hand-slash across the neck greeting. This is his way of letting me know they are closed. He says "they didn't assign enough staff to keep the restruant open". Not sure who "they" are, guessing it's the owners or someone further up chain. Ok I get it, people are no longer happy to work for starvation wages after getting unemployment + $300 extra a week bonus compliments of the Covid relief act. So, who's at fault here? The Government who spoiled workers by giving relief in a crisis, or the employer who could offer a living wage and benefits to bring folks back to work. I'm thinking the latter to be honest. Come on.... Think the cost of keeping one of these low-wage jobs. Transportation, uniforms, child care (a great number of these workers are single moms), health insurance, and of course the roof over your head. No wonder folks are inclined to stay home, when often their wages won't cover the expenses of just showing up to work!! The upshot is restaurants are closing, cutting menus, cutting hours, cutting services, instead of addressing the pay issue. I am sure the additional cost to offer living wages and benefits might at best add 10% cost to their operations. So which is better, closing, or making a modest price increase to the menu? All I know is the next time I hear a Manager whine about how "NO ONE WANTS to WORK", I am going to cite a small Ice cream shop in the south who, after increasing their offered minimum wage to $15 an hour, got over 1000 applications. It's not that folks don't want to work, they just want survival wages for their services!! read more

Stopped on the way from Nashville to Memphis for quick lunch. Amazingly clean, happy staff, great vibe. There was a bit of a lull in customers, all the staff were scrubbing and cleaning briskly and happily. And bathroom was sparkling! Kudos to the staff, excellent experience. I am a WaHo fan since my college years. WaHo is also the place where I go to whenever I need some taste of honest home cooking. No matter where I go, where I end up, I always check where the nearest WaHo location is. This location is the closest to where I am and I couldn't be happier. I know what I need and what to expect. Just like any other WaHo location, it is clean, friendly, familiar and the food is reasonably priced. I also like to see the fact that the people that work there get along with each other pretty well. If I can offer a humble recommendation, upgrade the sound system. One night after an 18 hours shift, I feed a one dollar bill to the jukebox; hoping to listen to some music while having my breakfast. Jess was amazing . she greeted us with a smile and energy that took over the place . she was knowledgeable , attentitive , and all around a great server . my boyfriend and I came in pretty early in the morning . for anyone to be able to efficiently have the time , energy , and passion to remain guest centric at the odd hours that we walked in , is impressive . We went to eat after I was discharged from the Vanderbilt Emergency Room. It was around 1145pm when we got there. Although it's easy to have good customer service when it's not busy, but this was great customer service. We got a seat easily. We got our order taken quickly. We got our food and drinks quickly. Never had to ask for refills, our waitress just took notice and refilled them. They split our check very easily and without complaint. We were in and out of there in about 45 minutes. After doing a quick google search for gluten free fast food in the area (breakfast specific) we came to Waffle House. Trip advisor said they had a GF menu. When we saw the menu it didn't even have GF listed on it. I asked if they had a specific menu for this. She looked at me very confused. They could not tell me if the hash browns were GF and the waitress told me they must be bc her friend is GF and she eats them all the time. Oh Waffle House, you make every trip to the south worth the time it takes to drive there! As usual the waitress informed us on some number of details of her personal life, this time it was that she was too tired after the overnight shift to cook an easter ham and would just do it on Monday. She also kept the diet cokes and coffees rolling. My back was to the flattop so I couldn't see what kind of amazing health hazard may or may not have been going on but we could see the Health Inspectors readjusted score of 87 on the wall. I'm still dreaming of the day when I can get some hash browns covered, smothered and topped in Chicago, which will, coincidentally, be the same year I have to switch to a more free moving mumu or judicial robe. read more

Waffle House...I don't think I've ever been to you completely sober or before midnight...but thats the beauty of Waffle House. This one in particular is very clean and always has a high health score which is very comforting. The late night cooks here also do a very good job of cooking everything as ordered without having to send anything back. I must have my bacon burnt and crispy (which might make some people cringe) and they manage to get it right every time so props to them for that. You can get a lunch or breakfast all star assortment for about $6.50 and to make it even better there is usually a show of obscenely drunk people making fools of themselves. I was a huge fan of Waffle House when I was in college - cheap food any time of the day and, you know, waffles! But in recent years my trips to the WH were disappointing enough that I had almost given up. Then I gave this one - at the I-40 Bellevue exit - a chance and my love of the place has returned. Waffles, eggs, hash browns - all at the quality I had come to love in college. The service has been great and everyone is super friendly. Oh yeah, the biscuits, because I always have to try the biscuits. They have new cheddar jalapeno biscuits that are great. If you order a biscuit breakfast sandwich, they grill the biscuits first, split open and face down, so that they heat up nicely and taste fresh baked. Yum!! read more

Man, I love Waffle House. My history with it goes back to late night munchies in high school--eating my favorite: a waffle sandwich with hash browns, nice and crispy on top. It just never changes. No matter which one you go to, it's still the same putrid yellow color scheme, big white light globes, a jukebox, and the sizzling grill. I even worked at one for a couple of days in FL. That was scary! My family and I recently had a meal there last Saturday night. I had the chicken patty melt with hash browns, hubs had the All-Star special, and my 16-month old had a grilled cheese. These were all good--not too greasy, hash browns perfectly crispy, and you can't beat the waffles. I was comforted by the whole experience. The Waffle House is a fine American diner that continues to be a recurring theme in my (until recently) nomadic life. Skip this one on Saturday or Sunday mornings as you're likely to have a long uncomfortable wait. If you go during down times, you're home free! Added bonus= The total bill was under $16. read more
