Today was my second visit here. Reading other reviews, it's clear to me that some people weren't aware that this is a cook it yourself experience. However, that's what we like about it! It's fun to be able to feel like a hibachi chef cooking up your own food.. could you do it at home? Absolutely, but we like being able to get a group together to go to breakfast and talk while our food is cooking. I order the Joey with French Toast, potatoes, bacon, and eggs plus your choice of 2 toppings for the French toast. The place is quaint and cute, today I did notice that the walls could use a little attention as far as splatter goes. I was staying in Nashville for work and the hotel breakfast sucked so I found this place on Happy Cow. I was intrigued by the concept so decided to check it out. They have gluten free and also vegan pancake batter so very accommodating. There was plenty of parking but also a sign about additional parking, and signage about a wait list so I assume weekends get very busy. I thought it was a little pricey BUT it's all you can eat, I Just couldn't eat more than one round. I was disappointed that the veggie sausage wasn't vegan but was thankful that the staff is very knowledgeable about that. They were very friendly and welcoming when I arrived and explained everything to me. My batter arrived quickly and making my own pancakes didn't take long at all. It could get even more pricey with multiple toppings so this seems like a fun place for a special meal. The decor was absolutely amazing with all of the murals and art work. Our table was greasy and we needed to ask for it to be cleaned. New to us, Reilly, our server told us we had to cook our food and could not share any part of it nor take anything with us. She took our order, and without warning, sprayed Pam onto the hot plate and walked away. What's the point when we didn't even have our water and coffee yet, let alone our food? For a party of four adults, the hot plate was too small for us to cook our food at the same time. The only pre-cooked foods were the bacon, biscuits, and turkey sausage. The room we were seated in was HOT! I asked Reilly if a window could be opened and she said no that other windows were open. When i asked where, she said "in the back". Needless to say, we were a sweaty and stinky mess by the time we left. The small room had six tables that were all being used and was quite uncomfortable. The roomed lacked any ventilation. We agreed that we should have left before ordering. As for the food, it was pricey, especially since we had to cook it ourselves. At over $20 per person, it was not worh it. The pancakes were ok. The syrup was very thin in consistency. We were given individual cups of eggs inside a metal bowl with a handy wipe and a fork, yet had to ask for more napkins because the butter was soft and our hands were getting dirty and greasy. Who cooks and isn't constantly cleaning their hands (especially when working with raw eggs?). The table was too small for the plates, beverages and the additional garbage accumulating at each corner. My wife found this funky breakfast/lunch place to eat at. It is celiac friendly and think of it as a breakfast hibachi. There is a griddle, and you get all of the fixings to cook yourself breakfast. It was fun and you get every ingredient you need. I let my wife cook first as she had gluten free pancake mix so there was no cross contamination. She said the pancakes were amazing and not gritty. You come here to have fun, and you leave happy! Just make sure to go online and add yourself to the waitlist ahead of time because there will ALWAYS be a LONG wait time, especially on weekends. They have a small area to wait inside, but just be prepared for that. You cook pretty much everything yourself on the griddle at your table, besides a few select sides (like the meat). We often get the Joey, which gives you all you can say pancakes with 2 toppings, 2 sides, and a choice of meat. Buttermilk All-You-Can-Eat Pancakes: 10/10 - This is where it's AT!! The batter is absolutely delicious, and they just keep bringing more until you're done. You absolutely get the bang for your buck, and I honestly love getting extra toppings even if it costs extra because it adds so much flavor. I've tried the pancakes with m&ms, chocolate chips, oreo, Nutella, and peanut butter, and all of it is good. It's super fun to make and flip them yourself, and you can make them exactly how you like them!! Date of visit: August 9, 2023 A friend talked about how fun this place was and once I heard about it, I knew we had to try it. I've been to places where you grill your own steak, but never your own breakfast! Staff was fun, if not quite as attentive as I would have liked. The food, however, was good. The batter poured easily and that allowed for mixing in our preferred items without issue. Butterfinger pancakes? Yes, please! The portions are pretty generous and when you add in all the sides as well, it makes for a hearty breakfast at a price that isn't too shabby. The bacon was excellent (we didn't have to cook that) and the biscuits--while not served warm--were way better than the "famous" ones at Loveless Café. I do wish that the side items came in more sustainable containers--I can't imagine how many of those little plastic cups are tossed out each day, filling up the landfill for centuries. Outside of that, the only other complaint I had was about the cleanliness of the facility, we sat by the window in the back section of the restaurant right after they opened and the windowsill area had clearly not been cleaned in quite some time. It's just an OK from me, the three and a half star rating for this place is about right. The ordering is clunky, the table arrangement is not comfortable, and for a place that has people cooking inside there seems to be zero ventilation. It was very smokey inside and I wouldn't eat here and then go to a meeting or appointment; you'll smell just like hot griddle and food. We sat on the patio and the first thing I noticed was that our table was not level at all. This made cooking very challenging, especially the eggs. Everything ran down and to the left and I had to hold it with the spatula until it cooked. As for the food, it was ok. I did enjoy my biscuits and gravy and the pancakes were decent, but nothing here excited me. The batter here is way too thick and doesn't pour clean, so I suggest adding a little water to the batter for an easier pour. We ordered the kids pancakes, The "Joey", and the biscuits and gravy with two sides; egg and sausage. As we ordered, we we're told three separate times (without prompting) we can't share our pancakes and that we needed to purchase our own individual pancake orders. We get it, no sharing! To be reminded so often definitely took the fun out of it and made us feel like cheap skates if I snacked a little bit food from my son's plate. We had gone to the Murfreesboro location years ago and took the drive out to Nashville this weekend to give this one a shot. It is EXPENSIVE, for food you're literally cooking yourself. 18 dollars for some pancake batter and 2 tiny jello shot containers of toppings. My daughter got the french toast and to her dismay it wasn't plain bread, it was some thick tiny slices off of an baguette it looked like. It's a shame that 1 bad experience in 6 years has made us never want to return. Been going to this place for years! We bring all our friends there and have loved it for many years. We had a baby (1 year old) and have been going there every few weeks for 2-3 months. It's the only place we eat out as its so fun and easy with our daughter. We love this place so much we drive an hour to get there and tackle the Nashville traffic. We went to have breakfast to celebrate our daughter's first birthday. We got charged over $5 to give my daughter ONE pancake from the pancakes batter I had already purchased. They didn't bring me more batter for her. Fun concept (especially for kids), but more gimmick that anything else. So at the Pfunky Griddle, you cook your own food (not all of it - more about that below). There's a large griddle in the center of each table, and any item with an asterisks on the menu comes to you and raw for you to cook yourself (pancake batter, eggs, hash browns, etc.). I went for breakfast with my grandfather this past weekend, and we ordered a few things that came cooked already (bacon, sausage, biscuits), and several eggs to cook ourselves. The eggs came separated into little plastic containers. I sprayed the griddle and poured the eggs onto it. We cooked ours over easy, but they also bring you a bowl in case you want to scramble yours. The eggs were fine; I'm pretty comfortable cooking eggs. I will say that you have no control over the heat of the griddle, so keep that in mind as you cook! The bacon we ordered was not properly cooked - it was extremely fatty and the fatty side came to table completely unrendered. We ate the parts that weren't unrendered fat and left the rest. The sausages and the biscuits were pretty good! My grandfather had a decaf drip coffee, and I had a cappuccino. I can't resist a cappuccino (which wasn't really a cappuccino, but tasted totally fine). The highlight of the meal for me was our service. The wait staff are great. They were super patient with us as we tried to figure out which items come cooked and which you cook yourself (it was early and we hadn't had coffee yet!) and they were really helpful as my grandfather asked for everything to be reheated (he likes everything steaming hot). Our main waiter in particular had a great sense of humor and made the breakfast more fun! The cafe itself is cute! A little smoky inside - but, hey, you've got griddles everywhere! I do agree with some other reviewers that the restaurant isn't very clean. When we went to grab the salt and pepper shakers for our eggs, one of them was just entirely greasy. But I could imagine that this restaurant is very hard to keep clean with every table spraying oil on griddles in the center of their tables! We arrived around 10 am on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded, but it wasn't empty! By the time we left at 11 am, the cafe was full and there were several groups waiting for tables inside and outside the restaurant. They have pretty decent parking, which is NOT a given in Berry Hill! All in all, we had fun! And I can totally see why families with kids would go nuts for this concept (lots of kids watching their parents make them sprinkle pancakes or chocolate chip pancakes!), but it's just not anything to write home about food-wise. But if you need a fun experience or if you have kids that are into food and like to watch it being prepared, you should definitely check out the Pfunky Griddle! read more
