I was excited to try Mixed Grill Cafe, because it's a no frills diner pretty close to our neighborhood. Unfortunately, we left pretty unsatisfied with our experience. The good? The menu is big. Whatever sandwich, burger, or app you had in mind - they probably have it. The service was excellent - we felt right at home! The prices - it's definitely an affordable meal! We had mixed feelings about our food. I tried the "salmon burger," which is a piece of well seasoned salmon with swiss cheese, tomato, and pickles on a bun. I thought it was pretty good - maybe a little dry. My fiance tried the lamb Philly sandwich - and he thought the lamb was REALLY tough. He definitely wouldn't order it again. Both came with a side of fries - which were well seasoned and pretty delicious. And we shared the stuffed jalapenos - which weren't very impressive - the cheese had an almost cheeze wiz-y consistency and taste. So happy I found this place! It's about a mile away from my work but I never would have known about it without finding it online. I've picked up orders for a couple of people in my office twice now. Both times, everything was amazing. The portion sizes are very generous, generally enough to share or have leftovers. Wait times on take-out orders are very reasonable (especially for FRESH, piping hot food) and everyone is so friendly! We will definitely order from them again! read more

The Mixed Grill Cafe recently opened in my area, I heard of it only because a random man came tromping through my yard and handed me a menu of theirs that contains Greek and American traditional cafe food. It's actually pretty good he did because if he didn't, I would never have run across the place. Situated on Grandview Ave, which runs parallel to Nolensville Road, it's basically situated right where nobody is ever going to see it (unless they work for Red Bull, which has trucks back there - who'dathunkit). Its entrance is on Woodbine, which is the street next to La Hacienda, Phonoluxe, etc. It's got a pretty nice dining area, the aesthetic is sort of marred by iron bars on the windows, but I think those were there before they moved in so can't fault them for that at only being open a month. They advertise they accept major credit cards, but evidently American Express is not one of the major ones they accept ;) The fries here are great, I;m told the cheeseburger is acceptable, and the veggie burger is pretty good. They have a fairly extensive sandwich menu. I thought about listing off what they have and then thought "everything" looks like it encompasses it. Maybe not everything, but they have cow, chicken, turkey, fish, veggie... so if it walked, flew, or grew it looks like they have a sandwich of it. They do deliver. I do not know what their radius is, and they're not "it's 2am OMG I need a snack NOW" capable, but that's pretty cool. read more

3.5 stars, but I'll put down 4 because 1) the food was just made when I got there 2) the steak and fries were both seasoned (something tons of restaurants neglect 3) they have a Philly Cheesesteak 4) people were friendly 5) the place was clean, although not much to look at, and 6) these guys need a little help with how completely invisible they are to normal traffic. I found this place trying to find a Discount Tire, and i got taken to just some garage that sold discount tires... Is it the best Cheesesteak in town? Well, for one, that's not saying much, and secondly, it's not. It's good, but a cheesesteak needs more cheese. I'll just order with double cheese next time. read more

I can truly say that Mixed Grill Cafe is a hidden gem. Ever since I started working on Grandview I had been intrigued by the spot, wondering what it could possibly contain. The first time, and every time I enter, I am promptly greeted by everyone on the floor. I cannot say enough how much this impresses me. Just this simple detail alone so many places forget and it really just shows the class and attention to detail that goes into how well thought out everything is here. The Restaurant was clean, and I mean CLEAN. Everything is tidy and neat, the tables are always immaculately organized and spotless, CLEAN. Mounir (the owner) greeted me kindly and I promptly ordered the most traditional thing on the menu I could find, among the more American fare. The Lamb Kabob with cucumber sauce. I was informed by Mounir that they also serve a Lamb Shank, which I'm also interested to try. The lamb was nothing short of fantastic. The seasoning was done perfectly, no gamey taste at all, and as tender as lamb can be grilled. Fantastically done. I had to go back for seconds the next day as well as to try the Stuffed Grape Leaves, which were tender and perfect. I think this place deserves much more and I can see a bright future for this restaurant. I would like to see more traditional food on the menu and less American food, but I suppose it is called Mixed Grill for a reason. read more

Yummy Very clean, very nice staff. Substituted the tabouli for the Greek salad on the falafel plate. The tabouli is my new favorite! It was much chunkier and lighter dressed than I've had before. Wow, they have a huge menu with a little bit of everything in it. I love that they have plenty of vegetarian options. We eat pescetarian, but mostly veggie, so it's always nice to find a good place we can all enjoy. We ordered the fried shrimp salad (it came with 6 large shrimp fried perfectly, atop a big heap of lettuce with onion, olives, and hard-boiled egg), falafel platter (falafel, rice, pita, small Greek salad), and falafel sandwich (comes with fries), through one of the popular delivery apps. Food arrived a good 30 min before the ETA. Food was hot and nothing was soggy. The fries are flavorful and crispy, the falafel is great, pita is perfect, portions are good. I ordered ranch dressing for the salad and they sent cucumber dressing instead. Agh. Overall, though, it was a really satisfying dinner and we will order again! read more

I feel like y'all don't know how to cut onions or tomatoes? They were all different sizes and chunky and kept coming off the burger. Raw onion in chunks is just never good in any dish in my opinion. My order was incorrect. The turkey burger tasted like it was microwaved. The fried chicken sandwich had a slice of American cheese on it and that's just not good when you expect a trip to flavortown. Come for the food, stay for the people! This place has an amazing selection of Mediterranean, Italian, and American dishes. The fried calamari was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth - so delicious! The hummus is another great starter to share, and the pita bread that came with it was so tasty. The mahi mahi steak platter was incredible! The fish was fresh and everything was seasoned so well. We also loved the Italian beef sandwich. For dessert, we had the baklava and loved that, too! Sometimes I wake up on a Saturday or Sunday and I'm all 'oh...noooooo! Can somebody please stop me at drink 7 next time?!' Yeah, its not a proud moment but at those times I want, nay NEED a cheeseburger. Now. Get. In. My. Belly. Healthy diet be damned. Before Mixed Grill moved in I had to drive all the way to Gabby's (only a few miles, but thats FAR with a hangover, ya know!) or settle for a chain burger and since I am a an insufferable hipster I like to eat local. Enter mixed grill, a good new non-mexican/el salvadorian/guatemalen/honduran addition to Nolensville Pike. I mean, have you ever tried a hamburgesa at a hispanic restaurant? Rarely good. Luckily I tried the burger here and it was a little above decent. It was big, included seasoned steak fries (that tasted like they stole the spice from Red Robin - I dig) and the veggies were chopped into little pieces like I enjoy (more flavor of all the garden in each bite). I cant imagine going out of my way to eat here, but it fills a void in my neighborhood for good take out style 'everything american' menu. Hubs and I will be back for lazy take-out times, I'm sure. Prices are pretty standard for a locally owned 'grill'. I'll update the review for service if/when I eat in, but the atmosphere is nothing to jump up and down about. read more

So there we were, 5 adults and two children pulling in to the limited parking in front of a building that looked more like a convenience store than restaurant. The look of concern on my wife's face said it all: this is supposed to be a good place to eat? When we walked in and saw no one seated, even I started to doubt the positives I had read here. My friends, the food was absolutely delicious. The portions were huge. Too huge, in fact as we all took food home. No, this is not a place to eat healthy. But since it appears to cater to the nearby businesses and the railyard, I don't think this is a primary thought among those who dine here. Appetizers included chicken fingers, fried cheese sticks, fried pickles, and hummus. The fried foods came to the table plenty hot, and once they had cooled sufficiently as to not cause 3rd degree burns they were quickly consumed. The hummus was a little garlicky, but even my picky eater three-year-old liked it. Entrees included kebabs, gyro platter, and the mixed grill platter. Each dish was served with rice and a "salad", which included lettuce, onions, tomato, and olives. We all got to a point where we wanted to eat more, but were simply too full to go on. Now, I don't know why this place gets two dollar signs. Most of the entrees were under $10, and the total for all of us was less than $90. They could easily cut the portion sizes by a third, charge the same price, and everyone would still leave full and happy. The only complaint we had was considering how empty the place was when we arrived - and this did not change until shortly before we left - the amount of time it took to prepare the food was longer than we thought it should be. I typically don't post a lot of reviews, but I had to speak up here. I don't know how this place gets so many approvals, maybe I was just there on a bad day. I ordered 3 dishes so I'd have leftovers, and I sampled each of them fresh. Lamb kofta with rice (probably the worst I've ever had), veggie ravioli (meh), and fried okra (the breading was WAY too thick). All the dishes were overly salty. Also had the baklava, and though it was the best of the things I ordered, even that was unimpressive. At least the side salad was fresh. The service was fine and the prices are tolerable, but I won't try this place again. read more

This place is terrible. A group of us ordered food and we were told it would be at least an hour before our food arrived (which is fine), but almost 2 hours later we still didn't have any food. We called and were told it would be another 40 minutes before our food even left the building! We called back again to cancel our orders and the guy started yelling and name calling us. We will NEVER get food from that place again! Yum. Just yum. I've never been to the actual restaurant, but have ordered through delivery services multiple times. I've had a couple of issues with the delivery aspect, but that's not on them. Even if the driver arrived later than expected, food was still piping hot and DELICIOUS. Orders always accurate as well. Most times, I pick a "favorite" and stick to that particular menu item. Not here. I want to try everything on it, because everything is so darn good. Do NOT pass up that fried okra side. Delight in that Pasta New Orleans. Every bite is better than the next. We had food delivered for the office. I was not impressed with what I ordered. Bad luck I guess. The jalapeño poppers were from a frozen bag and not good at all. I ordered a bbq lamb salad. The veggies were the thrown together from burger toppings and the lamb literally was as hard and dry as beef jerky. The bbq part meant they squirted bbq sauce in the lamb. I guess that was to cover up how dry it was. They should just remove it from the menu. Some of my staffs food was not bad. read more

Call to make order. Even if you put notes to provide CUCUMBER sauce for the gyros the NEVER look at the order and ALWAYS leave out the cucumber sauce. Delicious food. But they need to add the function to choose cucumber sauce as the dressing. read more

I was looking for a new take-out place and saw this new place pop up on Yelp with great reviews. After trying them out, I had to add my own great review. Mixed Grill has great variety on their menu- burgers, salads, sandwiches. I called in my order and came by to pick it up later. The location is off Thompson Lane, which could be a good location, but it's tucked away so it's a little hard to see. But don't let that stop you, or just get delivery for $1. We were greeted by smiles and friendly service, and free drinks for everyone. Spectacular service, delicious food. All the sandwiches had great flavor. I ordered the fried mushrooms, as well, and was given a large portion that was extremely fresh. Love this fresh-off-the-grill made-to-order food! I ate here a couple of different times. I got the gyro salad, and it was very good. I believe the dressing was made in house, but I could be wrong. I'm really glad I gave these guys a second chance. A while back I had ordered a French dip sandwich that was pretty unimpressive. I decided to give them another shot and wow, it was great. I ordered the gyro sandwich and while there could have been more veggies, the meat was so tender. The fries and gyro were both hot and fresh. The cucumber sauce was tasty. I also ordered the baklava for desert and it was rich and flaky. I finished my meal completely satisfied and the quality and amount of food for the price was very reasonable. read more

I've eaten at The Mixed Grill Cafe a number of times and the food is always delicious. The folks working there are super nice, and the owner (Monir) and his wife are some of the hardest working people I've seen anywhere. I often go for the Gyro Platter, which has so much food I usually have enough for lunch the next day, but today I chose the Rueben Sandwich and it was also delicious. Both my colleagues had the Grill's cheeseburger, which they said is one of the best they've had anywhere. Thumbs up for this place! read more
