So this is a diner type restaurant that you might not even know what you're looking at until you…read moresee it. There's no flashy sign or anything like that. It does look a little rundown but when you get in there, you want me to disappointed. Well I can only speak for myself but I wasn't disappointed at all. I stood at the front counter, and ordered from the menu which is up above. Don't expect any signage, this is old school diner style after all. Gloria took my order, she was patient as I looked on the menu to see what I wanted, so I have no complaints. She was super nice! They weren't really anybody else in the establishment so I was able to sit down wherever I wanted to. I ordered a burger and fries and a water and had a seat. And while I was sitting there there was a TV that let me watch some recaps of the NBA playoffs. Anyway, the burger was really good. It came out quick, the fries came out hot and fresh. They're more like potato wedges but that's perfectly okay! The burger itself was made with what seem like fresh ingredients, onions and tomatoes and all that. I have no complaints about that. Now there's no other condiments on the table though. So she gave me a bottle of ketchup and then I had to ask for mayonnaise. So usually you would have a self-serve place that would have a condiment bar or already have it at the table so it was interesting that they didn't have anything like that for a burger spot but that's not the end of the world. The quality of the burger was good. Would I go back, absolutely! The burger was good and filling, all the vegetables crunched, the fries came out removed grease on them so you know that came straight out to fryer, Burger Patty was pretty decently seated. Good fine, kind of a hole in the wall type of situation but you know those hole in the wall situations have the best food.

I was thinking about how to write this review, I think it's a bit overly priced. And here's why…read more The food was subpar, for starters there was "finger foods" with about four green olives four tiny dill pickles, and two pieces of celery. I had the chicken, which came with stuffing and cranberry sauce, topped with chewy floppy bacon, with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans, the cranberry sauce was way too sour and the chicken had more bones than meat. Be careful about that. My husband had the roast beef also with mashed potatoes and green beans, which was all right. The green beans tasted like they were canned. The tomato basil soup as the appetizer tasted as though it was frozen and thawed out again, and for dessert we had the apple pie with ice cream, the apple pie seemed like it was bought at Walmart, cold, and overly sweet. Definitely was not homemade. Now onto the atmosphere of the train, the waiters were nice, but a little disorganized and the train was outdated in design like they hadn't remodeled it since 1940 the day, the train was built and put on the tracks. Also it was outrageously cold in there. One of the waiters said they set it to 68. Make sure you bring a sweater in there. When we had finished eating we went to this "lounge" area, and the seats were disgusting, they looked like they were the original seats with stains and all. This is my first negative review I've ever written, and I felt like I had to share due to how much it cost. $178 for 2. I don't think it's worth it. The train ride itself was OK. However, the view was mostly just stone wall and city traffic. You didn't get to see any of the cool things about Chattanooga. If you still feel the need to experience this yourself, you have been warned, but I particularly will not be going back.

The porters were extremely nice and very knowledgeable about the history of the dining cars. Our server was Daniel and he definitely was top notch to say the least. My coffee cup stayed full the entire time! The train ride itself was enjoyable and made us want to take a longer more scenic trip. The dinner was great. They had many options to chose from...chicken, salmon, beef to name a few. The tomato bisque was great. Dessert options were fabulous in all ways but we both decided on the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.. I wish I would have taken more photos but the food was so enjoyable I almost forgot. If you are in the Chattangora area this is definitely a must do. The museum/station offers a variety of things for all ages to do.

A few customers were coming in and although the place wasn't crowded at all,it took quite awhile for some of the tables to be cleaned off.At one point,a customer with about 3 children and he and his wife, stood and waited patiently to be seated. The male noticed that the table he wanted wasn't clean, and he motioned for someone to clean it.The employee cleaned the table top off,but there was food on the seat,as the family sat down. I quickly let the employee know of this,so as to avoid the customers getting any food on their clothes, but the employee ignored me,and just allowed the food to remain on the seat, while the customers promptly sat right down in the food.I just shook my head. I doubt very seriously,if I will ever eat at this location again. In closing, the bathrooms should be cleaned atleast every 30-45 minutes to insure that both customers and employees have a clean and sanitary area in which to use the facilities.Times have really changed indeed.

Walking in we were greeted and told to sit anywhere. There were only two open booths so we grabbed the one along the side near the bathrooms. The first thing we all noticed was it was quite loud. The servers were all talking over on another and having lively discussions, which by itself is fine, but they were shouting across the entire dining area. While it's great to see employees enjoy working together it definitely made conversation at the table a bit difficult, especially when someone comes out from the back shouting to someone across the dining area. This continued the entire time we were there. While maybe not normally a problem this can be distressing for those with sensory issues, so be aware. Otherwise, the experience was typical for a Waffle House. The service was friendly and fast, the food came out quickly and as ordered, and the coffee cup was never empty. Our server also made sure we had to-go cups for our remaining drinks and checked on us multiple times as we ate.
