I was in the area with my partner who had a job interview in Scranton. I didn't have anything better to do and had never been to this part of the state, so invited myself to tag along. We spotted the Waffle House on our way back and I had a vague recollection of hearing good things, so we decided this would be as good a place as any to grab some lunch. Everything was greasy and boring without hot sauce. The coffee straight up sucked. Our server was entirely unenthusiastic, and I couldn't really blame her. Thankfully, my partner ended up not taking the job, so there's no real reason for us to go back up that way in the foreseeable future. Was here the Saturday before Christmas. It was about 9:30 PM. Had just spent a hour driving around downtown Scranton trying to find a restaurant that was open and had nearby parking. Doesn't seem like much but a regular Waffle House but as soon as you walk in you're welcomed by pretty much the entire staff who have an awesome attitude! We were immediately waited on and had our order taken. The staff behind the counter was dancing and singing and made the entire experience wonderful. You can tell they like to have fun. The food was good and served in a timely manner. Our waitress was amazing and had a good sense of humor. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more!!! read more

This place is only good after 11pm. Lower your expectations and you won't be let down. The hash browns are what makes Waffle House what it is (you know, you'd think it'd be the waffles, but they're frequently cold and rubbery), and ever since they removed the 2 cheeseburgers, hash browns and drink combo, I've avoided the place. This location doesn't have the expanded menu that other Waho's might but I get my fix and always leave satisfied. Like someone had mentioned earlier, there's variation in quality depending on who's cooking but quite frankly, that's usually the case with most chain roadside restaurants. No big deal. If I could give this place a minus 1 star, I would. First off, they're understaffed 2 servers even with social distancing seating in effect. I arrived at 915am this past Saturday 1/30/2021. A guest and I sat at the counter in front of the cook station. The server was busy with phone orders. After 12 mins time, we were asked about drinks. We informed we were just ready to order, also drinks. My guest order sausage, eggs and waffle w/ coffee. I ordered my USUAL waffle house breakfast ( Scrambled cheese eggs, grilled chicken and hash brown potatoes WD) along with a blueberry waffle and OJ. We ate and left the premises. Approximately 25 mins after leaving I fell ill, I definitely had food poisoning, it had to been from the grilled chicken. We had to exit the highway and I had to use a service stations bathroom to avoid an accident on myself. My many times at Waffle house, I've never experienced this. I told the person I was with, that would DEFINITELY be my last time going to this PARTICULAR Waffle house. read more

The best thing about Waffle House is consistent quality food. This location is the exception. I can overlook anything once but twice in a row is unacceptable. The cook couldn't get the order right and the waitstaff couldn't correct the problem. First visit I ordered an egg cooked over easy and got it cooked hard. After a discussion with the server who told me I didn't understand how eggs are supposed to be cooked she agreed to get me another one. It came out sunny side up, basically a raw egg on my plate. Today I prefer hash browns all the way with a fried egg over easy. I got plain hash browns and a fried egg. The waitress took way the plate, scrapped off the hash browns and gave me the plate back with the egg. At least it was cooked properly. When I finally got the hash browns to go with my cold egg, instead of all the way it had jalapeños, ham and gravy only. When I mentioned it to our server she said oh, I'm sorry, put the bill on the table and walked away. Not to mention my wife's Waffle still had uncooked better inside. Can't understand how consistently bad this place is. Note, the place wasn't very busy. I can understand why. This place does not deliver the high level of excellence I've received at every other Waffle House I've visited. read more

Horrible, absolutely horrible. The food was disgusting as was the total cleanliness of the place. The orange juice machine looks like it had crust forming on the outside of the machine that keeps it mixed. After I took a sip of my orange juice my stomach immediately quivered. Not to mention the garbage can where the servers scrapped their plates was literally one foot behind the table. This place was just so unsanitary I don't even think it should be open. They told me I couldn't get ice in my water which by the way the cup the water was in still had the last persons mouth mark on it so it was not cleaned. One star is for the horribly ugly (as in attitude of woman cooking) two very friendly waitress were working Sunday Aug 16 around 8 pm. It was very obvious one of them was new, the other waitress Lysa was trying to help in any way, what THOROUGHLY ruined any experience was the horribly degrading manner in which she spoke to the New girl. Mind you my boyfriend and I were starving and pretty much nothing could've ruined our meal, other than the line cook. The food here is pretty yummy. The waffles definitely meet the standards that they have. They were delicious! The workers at this location are a little awkward and unenthusiastic, but I could understand it's probably not the most enjoyable job. I think that the place needs some updating as far as technology. The meals were only written down (not put into computer) and the register was pretty ancient and seem to be giving them problems. You just have to walk in and seat yourself which to me is no biggie, but some people don't like that. Cool place to try out !! read more

Employees were touching food with their bare hands as well as opening cupboards with their gloves on then touching food with those same gloves and not changing them after every order. The waitstaff messed up everyone's orders multiple times. The waffles were thin and over cooked as well as some were undercooked. I do not recommend this particular location read more

Very disappointing! I went there today for only the second time and 2 things.... 1-All our food came out at once except the sausage. It still wasn't done after I ate half my waffle so I waited on the other half until I got the sausages. By the time I got my sausages the waffle was COLD but the sausages were HOT. 2-Our drinks was a water and iced tea but on the bill I was charged $1.90 for 2 drinks‼ I complained to the manager and she took the water off the bill and gave a small discount for not receiving the sausages in a timely manner. Quick and fulfilling, this is the place to go if you don't care about what your food taste like. The only thing good is the waffles, every single item that has salt in it is overly salty, whether it be hash, sausage, biscuits. Come here if nothing else is open to fill your stomach. read more

Showed up at 4am after dropping off at the airport the two twenty something girls who don't know how to cook, tell us the cook walked out at midnight and the manager still wasn't not there, but they would try to feed us. Absolutely hands down the worst experience I've ever had in a dining environment in my whole life. Staff was sloppy, arguing with each other the whole time, being rude and ignoring the customers, and evidently not caring at all. The worst part was my eggs and hash browns were cold and SUPER undercooked. Well the first table I went to sit at, there was still hash browns all over everything. We went and sat at the counter I noticed the menus were greasy and our silverware was dirty. While we were waiting for our food we had to put up with loud, immature, obnoxious waitresses cursing and gossiping about customers. I stopped by this Waffle House while in the area to see the RailRiders play. I got a waffle, hash browns, toast, and eggs. The waffle was overdone (the staff asked me if I was okay with that) but still delicious. Everything else was great. Service was good. I was given margarine rather than butter with my waffle, which I can see annoying some people (but it's not a huge deal for me as I rarely use butter on my waffles). The interior of the restaurant isn't the greatest but it's serviceable for a Waffle House. For a Waffle House, this location is fine but not outstanding in any way. read more

Horrible service!! Never got greeted coming in! Had to seat our selfs. After that the tables were dirty! And the food was Horrible and not well put together! LOOKED LIKE THEY THREW IT TOGETHER! How does this place stay open?!?! Stopped in on a Tuesday night. Had to walk through a veil of cigarette smoke because the cook coining on duty put his lit cigarette right next to the door! There were 2 tables but still took quite some time to get service. Didn't get everything we ordered, never got refills, never got a check. When we asked the new waitress on duty about out check she argued with us that we had already received it. The new waitress had to count the cash register which took 25 minutes while people waited to pay their bill. The register was 64 cents off and it seemed like the end of the world! Final when that ordeal was solve we requested a receipt to see what we were charged for only to be given a receipt with just a total. We have no idea what we paid for. I ordered the All-Star Special. Waffle was great, bacon was great, hash browns were good, grits were good. Only complaint was the bread. It was so hard I couldn't finish it. Went around 1 AM, so it wasn't busy and food was cooked quickly. They definitely need to upgrade their registers and such. Seemed like such an old place to me. My girlfriend ordered this Bacon melt. She said if she wasn't so hungry, she wouldn't have finished it. Take that for what it's worth. 3 stars is fair for this Waffle House. read more

Ok service for my order they forgot 2 things that I ask for and the place is not so clean and the parking lot is not clean

The worst service I have ever had. Our server Sarah was rude and unwelcoming from the second we sat down. We both had to say hello to her and she barely even said hi back. Not once did she ask how we were doing or how our food was. I ran out of sweet tea before receiving my food and was never given a refill. She even walked back and dropped off our check and still did not give me a refill. Finally having to ask for it when I was almost done with my meal, when I watched her look at my empty cup multiple times. We wanted to order to go food but she never came back to our table... This is ridiculous. She does not need to serve anyone, anywhere, at any time. And to be honest I am a server myself and am usually super understanding. I have bad days too and I understand serving people is difficult when you are in a bad mood, but we tried to be nice and start small talk with her multiple times. This place was god awful. In all fairness, this was my first (and definitely only) visit to a Waffle House, but I can't even believe how spot-on comedian Jim Gaffigan's description of it was ("gas station bathroom that serves waffles"). I didn't go there with high expectations by any means, but I never thought it could be as bad as it was. The place was beyond filthy. Let me say that I happily eat at Denny's and dirty NJ diners; I can look the other way for good, cheap, greasy food late at night. This was horror movie style filth. I optimistically (naively, daringly) went ahead and ordered food. The "menu" leaves something to be desired. Disappointing but oh well, I was there for the waffles right? What I was served was (I can't sugarcoat this) the shittiest waffle I've ever paid for. Its taste was alright but it looked like it came out of my freezer. In fact, I've never appreciated Eggo's as much as I did in that moment. Also, they don't serve actual butter, but some kind of margarine? And now for the grime: Not only was it abominably dirty, they were washing the floor in front of the stove WHILE COOKING OUR FOOD (think dirty water splashing up and around). I'm still trying to understand how none of us got food poisoning. It was like 2 am, but I can't imagine the light of day would have done anything but make me cry at the extra layers of filth I would have been able to see. I'm really upset I have to give this place any stars (major flaw of Yelp). I can only assume other Waffle Houses are not quite as disgusting, since people rave about this place elsewhere. read more
