Came to town to meet family. Super small town, nothing much happening, but we were directed here by our hotel. We came over think it was the Waffle House, but were quickly corrected- No, this is the Waffle Shop! Okay!!!! Food is decent. Good portion size. Nothing fancy. BTW...the gravy for biscuits and gravy is plain white gravy with no sausage in it at all. Overall we were all pleased. We got the waffle special with eggs and bacon..basic breakfast. The waitress was polite, and accommodating for my dietary restrictions. She was able to get bacon replaced with eggs on one of the specials, since I cannot eat pork products. Ate here a couple weeks ago with friends while we were in town for a concert . Ordered over easy eggs. The white was not cooked, still clear looking. Told the waitress. She went and told the cook who told us we need to learn how to order eggs. Pretty sure when you order over easy the white is supposed to be cooked. read more

I ordered 3 eggs, sausage, a pancake, and coffee. No toast no hash browns nothing else. The eggs were supposed to be over medium but the whites even were runny. The sausage patties were cooked on one side only giving the meat a weird texture. The pancake was at least decent. The grill which our meals were prepared obviously had not been cleaned in a while. My omelette was dark brown with black flecks from burnt oil and a dirty cook surface. It sat in a pool of grease on the plate. Another plate had raw eggs when they were ordered over-medium. Another meal had cold eggs, sausage and a rubbery waffle. He ended up ordering a cheeseburger and fries, and since they did not have a veggie omelet (I don;t eat pork), I also had the cheeseburger and fries. Our granddaughter had the stuffed baked potato. My boyfriend ordered two eggs, toast, and hash browns. His food was swimming in oil. He ended up eating of my plate. The saving grace of our meal was his daughter's pancake. Oh the Waffle Shoppe. As someone who grew up in Durant we only had a few places to go after 10, and this was one of them. It was grim in the 90s and was still grim when I went last about 6 years ago. This place was absolutely terrible! We stopped by because we thought a place called waffle shoppe would be a satisfying option for breakfast, however, even the waffles were terrible. The portions are small, in comparison the prices are high, and the food was cold and lacking flavor. My eggs were runny and the hashbrowns were undercooked. My sister's waffle was cold and the strawberry topping was disturbingly sticky and old. Our waitress was rude and didn't even add up our bill for us; she wrote the prices all down individually leaving it up to us to figure out what we owed for our bill. I have eaten here several times, and never been the least bit impressed. Service is patchy, the food is always underwhelming and overpriced. Most of the staff doesn't care, and for the price you pay, you don't get much food. It's usually greasy and unappealing in taste and appearance. The restaurant is also dingy and sticky. Waffle Shoppe is horrible! Waffle Shoppe is the worst restaurant I have EVER been to, and I've been to a lot of bad restaurants. I can't think of a single positive(except tha t I never have to eat there again). When you enter, you will notice how dirty and run down the building is. The service is terrible, I couldn't even get a menu until I walked up to the waitress and asked for one. Then had to do the same to order. Half an hour later, my cheeseburger finally shows up. It was ok, other than the fact that it was cold. Also, for seven dollars I expected it to be bigger, especially since it came with chips(fries were extra). The waitress was extremely rude, making comments every time she saw you. When your finished with your food, you have to stand in line at the cash register to pay. When it was my turn, the waitress nagged me for a big tip. Even better, I was sick all night after eating at Waffle Shoppe. Enter at your own risk! read more
