Despite some of the negative reviews, I decided to give this place a try mainly because it was close to my hotel. I was promptly waited on within a minute of being seated and had a very icy cold beer sitting in front of me less than two minutes later so at least the service started off on a great first impression. My Cowboy Ribeye arrived very quickly and although the fat could have been rendered a bit more and a could have had a bit more seasoning the steak was cooked perfectly and was very tender. This super popular local steakhouse is a pretty good choice to get a variety of different meals.they start you off with some warm rules with butter which are quite nice. You can also get peanuts to snack on why you wait to order. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and had it cooked rare. Now I normally order rare cuz most places overcook it. But here I was wrong, they are a steak house and it definitely came out rare. Which is just fine because I like a rare cheeseburger. Couldn't wait to try this place. Had heard several rave about it. Boy was I disappointed! I ordered a ribeye and there is no way what I got was a ribeye.... It was a way too lean and tough it was a sirloin... I don't mind paying for a good steak or meal ... but the price I paid today for three people was ridiculous.... Quite possibly one of the worst places I have ever eaten at. Was in town for family business and someone suggested it as "decent". Was far from it. After a short wait, we were shown to our table. I was talking, so want paying too close attention. Took the first bite and something was... Off. I tried another small one just to see. It was still kind of mushy. I normally don't eat a lot of mushrooms because they can be so hit and miss. I decided to get rid of the mushroom, thinking that was the offense. After the breast was cleared of mushrooms and cheese, I cut in to the chicken again. It was pink. I cut in to the other side of the breast. Very light pink, but still not cooked. Waved waitress over and said "Could I get one a little more done?" She responded with "A whole new one?" What probably would have been more appropriate was "Holy $&ck! We served you raw chicken!" Second one was thoroughly cooked and the flavor was better (had them leave off the mushrooms) but still very sub-par. Honey mustard was terrible. Rolls were decent, but very floury. We had a wide variety of food at the table - steak, shrimp, ribs, fish. It was all delicious and well seasoned. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, and it's easy to overcook grilled shrimp. Our kids devoured the fish and rolls. The ribs were a little fatty and you don't get very many in the combo platter. The fried pickles were outstanding - some of the best I've ever had. Okay so I appreciate a good steak. Read my other reviews and you'll see.... And that's exactly what this was: a good steak! Actually it was much better than that, better than good. In the Marine Corps we'd say it was outstanding. That's about as good as it gets I got the 16 oz ribeye and ordered it medium. I never know quite what to expect when asking for a medium steak. I know what I would like. Cooked all the way through but pink in the center. But I rarely get that. Well this was that. It was perfect. And it was tender. And most of all, it was tasty. For a change it was every bit as good as I could make at home on the grill, and maybe even better. So the short story: I would go out of my way to come here and will do so again in the future. Aside from the food, (which is the main reason I go to a restaurant), the ambience was great, the service excellent and the atmosphere was Country Music family-friendly. They give you fresh rolls and if you ask they will give you cinnamon butter (see the similarities here-lol). I always get a cheeseburger and my husband usually gets a steak of sorts. While the burger is delicious, I don't think the steaks look all that great. If you find yourself in Leesville and are looking for somewhere to eat this is a good option. Not a child size flatten out patty they got from Walmart across the street. When I asked if can exchange just the chicken only, Shelby ( I think that was her name) our waitress said that she can bring something else but because I order that I will still be charged. I said thank you, but I do not want to be disappointed for with ordering anything else. My plate alone was $22. Very disappointing.
