We waited for over an hour for a table of 7. We were told they had 2 tables and they could split our party and be seated immediately. We decided to wait the hour and when they finally called us, the only tables they had were split. The host/ waitress was extremely rude when I said we could have sat at 2 different tables an hour ago. She said there are other places to eat in Lava. Fun bar but some of the regulars aren't the friendliest. That doesn't degrade the business by any means but something worth mentioning. As for the service, I stood at the bar and there were only like 15 patrons at the time, ( I've seen this place packed with 50 plus people on most weekends I've been in town) and wasn't even approached for five minutes. It's one of the few bars in town and is a fun place with a group of friends. We usually end up here for a drink or two and as long as you aren't in a rush it's worth checking out. This place came very highly recommended! Location: right on the main drag and easy to find. I hear the wait can be long, but it wasn't bad at all as we beat the lunch rush and arrived around 11:30am, which was good - except we missed out on some of their delicious sounding breakfast offerings. We spent the month of December at the KOA in Lava. Came to this restaurant one night for dinner. They're obviously under staffed. The place was packing out that night and they had one waitress by herself. So, for that reason I can forgive the service, but the food was just plain bad. We have been to lava a number of times. Never stopped to eat, but heard this place was the place to go. Awful experience all around! We were seated and waited nearly 15 mins to even order a drink. Then we sat for 40 mins waiting on our food. Only fit it to come out burnt. My sweet potato fries were the only thing I really enjoyed. I'm at a loss as to how this place gets good reviews. I felt like I stepped right back to 1969 when we went in for breakfast. The special were crepes and bacon. I ordered them and they were delicious. The crepes had a cream cheese filling and strawberry topping. I asked for crisp bacon and I got it which was nice. The hotel recommended we have breakfast there and to order the scone. We each ordered one and it would describe it more like a small cake and a scone had a baby. The batter was not light and fluffy like I was hoping for. It was more dense like a Cake. Had lunch there on a weekday. It was quiet, only about 5 cowboy types at the counter, with stetson hats and coffee cups. I had a tuna melt with tots and my companion had the baked stuffed tater. The tater was huge with melted cheese, chili with beans and onions. The tuna melt came grilled perfectly and literally bursting with cheese and tuna on a great tasting marbled rye. Yummy. The tots were abundant and perfectly crispy and nice and hot inside. How I love tots in Idaho. With the meal came a bottle of fry sauce. the meal was delicious, MMMMM. yum. The lack of 5 stars is only due to the service. It was fast and efficient, but the waitress was just a bit different. An older, career type waitress, she was just a little offhand. Definitely a fun place to be in Lava Hot Springs if you're looking for a bar. We first went to the "Blue Moon" bar here and immediately left due to the rude people and unwelcoming environment. Definitely recommend, started out quite but very friendly and great bartenders. Improv karaoke, no screens and nothing set up but haven't laughed that hard and had that much fun in some time, what started quiet and simple ended with lots of drinks laughs and dancing! Great bar to hang out in.... Been going to this bar for years. Every once in a while there is a fight, but the bouncer does a great job keeping the trouble makers in line. To the guy that said the bouncer is a real "peach" You must have had a problem with someone in there or a problem with him. The place itself is really cool. The layout is nice. The sitting around the bar is large. The regulars were quite friendly. This was the first outing that my husband and myself have had since having children 10 yrs ago. The beer was warm and flat. I had to move to mixed drinks and was still unhappy. They over pour terribly. The owner and son were not friendly. Unfortunately the other bar in town is not our style so when we visit again we will have no choice but to go back for drinks. read more
