Visited here for my first time last week and was amazed in how well I was treated! I have a senior extremely picky cat and was looking for a specific food brand for him. We used to recommend this place to everyone, but our last experience here did not feel very professional and came off incredibly rude and somewhat insulting. I'm not sure if it's new management or new groomers, but I am not happy and will not be returning. I went to pick up my dog from his grooming appointment like usual, spent $178 on grooming and 2 treats + $20 tip (this has gone up from what it used to be but I was okay doing this because he was always happy to go). I ask to schedule a future appointment with the girl helping me at checkout and she gets interrupted by another woman who hands me a flier for their mobile service saying she thinks he would have a better experience doing at home grooming where he can be alone as the dogs that were non-stop barking seemed to be making him upset and he was pulling towards them. I had already paid so I took my stuff and left with the dog. I called to clarify that what they were saying was they no longer wanted my in store business and that same phrase "We think it would be better for him" so I said I would find somewhere else and hung up. If this was his first experience there I would understand, but we had been going here for 3 years for his grooming under the old management and was constantly told about how good he was and how much they loved to see him and he was well behaved. So unless for 3 years multiple groomers were lying to me, it sounds like this was an issue on their end. I would've been far more open to talking solutions had I also been respected as a paying adult and told "He was really anxious during this grooming experience, I would like to work something out to help him." But since it was made very clear they don't want my business in store, I won't be bringing them any more business. read more

This place is very unprofessional in how they do business. Our dog came home extremely sick from last visit there. We had some personal scheduling conflicts and have had to cancel appointments but all within 24-48 hour window. Owner called and left my wife a nasty voicemail saying we could no longer be clients. Wonder if their records are up to date since half the time the employees had incorrect information cards pulled for our dogs. Would not recommend.Also will be reporting to google that this owner removed my wife's review without addressing the issue. read more

I would like to give 5 stars to my groomer Mia. She deserves more than 5 stars. I have a golden retriever Charlie who has never looked so good when I bring him to her for de-shedding, bathing, and cutting. He looks fabulous when I pick him and I never have enough time to tell her because he wants out of the store so fast. I have had several goldens in my life and gotta tell you Mia is the best. His hair is exactly even from side to side and has that feathering look to him. I would follow Mia to the ends of the earth. I would give 5 stars to Wags but I have a problem with one particular lady who continually tries to sell me on Wags dog food. I have explained that my husband is very picky when it comes down to what we feed our dogs and as I have told we are very happy with our brand. "Well what is your brand," she asks. "I have no clue" but she keeps on pushing and then acts like I feed my dogs (4) total crap. I do not appreciate being pushed into trying Wags dog food. I normally do not like to give bad reviews, and this is ONLY on the Grooming . I had brought my pup in for a comb out, nail trim , and a hair trim . Told the groomer I liked her beard long, her tail Long, her ears long . And overall like her long! Thinned it out . Well when I came to pick her up I couldn't believe my eyes! I was in shock! I said nothing ! Tipped her and shouldn't have! Ugh she DID NOT LISTEN TO ME! She at least took 3 inches off ! It's choppy! Short! I've been come here for almost 2 years now and I'll start off by saying, the groomers do an awesome job, which is why I gave 2 stars, otherwise I would have gave non. The owner Janelle, is such a disrespectful person and cares nothing for your dog, and mainly just wanting business. Every time she is there, there is always a problem, she trash talks our dog over an incident that happened last year where it took longer for myself to pick him up when they told me he would be done within 2-3 hours and they called me in 1 hour. So for that they said he destroyed stuff and wouldn't stop barking, which I highly doubt he destroyed anything because he has never destroyed anything more than his toys! And we finally just said it was enough, because she brought it up again today that we need to make sure we pick him up right away as soon as they call and my husband stood up for our dog and asked her to stop bringing up an incident that happened so long ago and hasn't happened since and she got upset and told him "you know you don't have to bring him here, right?" Between our phone call and going into the store, she gave me at least 45 minutes of time and attention. You just don't get that these days. Would love to give zero stars but since that's not an option had to give only one. Thought we had found a great place for grooming but no such luck. The last time my dog was in she came home so worked up and sick that it took us two whole days to get her back to normal. I let them know my dog has COPD at the first grooming appointment and to call if she gets worked up. My last visit in was on a Saturday and the groomer was running behind so my dog was there for almost two hours before getting started. When I called at the two hour mark to check on her they said she was ok, however when I picked her up an hour later she could hardly catch her breath and was sick for the two days afterward. Called and talked to the owner who seemed to kind of care at the time but we've had a few scheduling conflicts and have cancelled appointments (all within cancellation window and never less than 24-48 hours). Just listened to a nasty voicemail from owner telling me she was firing us as clients. Very unprofessional and would not recommend. read more

When they called me to inform me my dog was ready for pick up I asked her very nicely if it would be ok that I will be a little late since I did not have my car at that time. Her response was "NO, it's not ok!" I explained how sorry I was and that I was in a bind due to not having my car. She starting sighing and making all kinds of annoyed noises all because I was going to be late. Then she proceeded to tell me "Now we have to take him outside." With that type of attitude to your customer do you really care about dogs? you were that angry because I was going to be late?! Who knows if my dog was abused while you had to take him out. Don't worry, I did not take out my anger on your employees. I made sure to tip the groomer as this will be the last time I ever come to your place of business. read more

Where do I begin?! And WHY did I have to leave a star even. Oh, that's for the groomer ONLY!! First off I will start off by saying, I will never return to this grooming establishment . My two little dogs I have been taking there "together" for the last 3/4 years. When I went there today, after scheduling an appointment 2 weeks prior. As I approach the desk, mask on, and with my 12 pound dog on a leash. And my 2 pound dog in my arms. There were two older women behind the front desk. And the owner, a rather tall redhead... Extremely abrasive; approached me. First she came up to me and told me that I had to stop because of Covid, turn around and put my dog in the cage at the very front of the store. Not being in there since this past Christmas. I wasn't aware. Because last time I checked, Covid happened in March, and no-one told me to do that then. Secondly, they could only find the card with the dog that I brought in on the leash, her information. The other two ladies were frantically looking for the card on the dog that was actually going to be initially groomed, who was 2 pounds. Did I mention that the 12 pound dog was only coming in for a nail trim. The redhead, OWNER , basically told me that I needed to lock up my dog upfront. Before I could address my check-in appointment. Then she proceeded to tell me over and over that my dog had not been there since 2019. Hence, she could not find the right card for the animal that was being groomed. She argued with me about this. Come to find out, both cards, for both dogs were stapled together. If she had her information in front of prior to the appointment, I don't think we would've had this issue. Talk about a disorganized mess she is. And then when the one older woman behind the desk actually found it stapled to the other card, I mentioned it to the owner on the way out. Of course she gave me a snippy come back. Very unprofessional. I'm surprised she's made it this far in life as a business owner. And from all of the other Yelp reviews, she sounds like a real charmer. But wait, it gets even better. So , my little dog, the two pounder that was going in for grooming. Was diagnosed seven months ago with kidney disease. She also had a horrific mouth infection that went throughout her whole body and almost killed her. With a wonderful vet, great medicine, hand fed her for two months, and lots of vitamins and love. My 2 pound dog bounced back. She was 6 pounds before she got sick. She's a tiny breed. The two older women behind the desk proceeded to tell me how sickly she looked. And that she pretty much looked Malnutrition and "boney". She's 14 years old. She's been through a lot. But she made it. She's Is not in any pain, playful, drinking and eating and thriving. I almost felt like they were interrogating me, and had DCFS for dogs on speed dial. I have never been treated so poorly. Not only did the owner, the very tall redhead be snippy with me, talk down to me and pretty much made me feel like I don't know how to take care of MY animals. But so did her staff. (Unless the two older women were so upset with the way the redhead treats them as well) But there was absolutely NO reason for all 3 of them to take their miserable life out on ME! I don't know this redheads name, and I don't want to know her name. But, from all of the other reviews it sounds like I said above, that she is the owner!!! Scary, right? So on that note... With the lack of all of the unprofessionalism that happened within a 20 minute time frame. I will NEVER return to that grooming facility. If anyone should be "groomed", it should be that staff ....and the owner. Groomed on how to treat other people. Groomed on proper etiquette. Groomed on how to be compassionate and caring. I'm enclosing a photo of my dog, the one that they think was at deaths door... And at one time she was. But she's also a senior dog. And you know what... One day they're going to get old-er. Heck, two of them already were. There's enough hate in this world, why add more to it ladies. I hope you read this review and check yourself. If I worked for a woman like that, that made me that miserable, that I had to take it out on other people and their pets. I think I would either hang it up, or look for a new profession. All I can say is, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS THERE!!!!!They don't care about you or your pet, they care about how much crap they can sell you. And they also are about themselves. Will not EVER come back here again. My dog was turned away mid-groom and i had to come and get him. "Jullie" said he was snapping and acting up. I provided a solution to muzzle him. They said they couldn't get near him (he's been to this groomer Twice before and never had an issue). (He's also NEVER had an issue at any groomer before). I offered ANOTHER solution (i will muzzle him myself). Her reply "we just don't want the dog to have to go through agony and chaos". Are you serious? It's a goddamn groom... dogs hate getting groomed... how many dogs whine and complain and act out when they're getting groomed... she then proceeded to tell me i didn't know how to properly take care of my pet... that right there is when the professional/UNprofessional line was drawn. First off: i have been a dog owner for 37 years... i perfectly well know how to care for my animals. Second-off... my wife rescues and fosters animals. Learn professionalism you idiot. The store offers "do-it-yourself" wash stations to wash your dog (big or little!), full-service grooming, cute beds, leashes, collars, and all that good stuff that you'd expect a doggy boutique to have. But! They also carry a wide variety of carefully selected dog foods that are designed to really optimize your dog's health -- instead of just loading the food with carbohydrates and fillers like companies like Iams/Eukanuba and Science Diet do. I have been shopping at Wags to Whiskers for several years and have become a loyal customer. To be honest, Janelle, the owner, and the rest of the staff deserve a lot of credit for improving the health and overall wellbeing of my dogs, each of whom have specific health problems and resulting dietary needs. Janelle and at least two of the staff remember my dogs -- their names, faces and their health issues, even the two they have never met. I have always considered myself a responsible, reasonably well-informed dog owner, and I love my dogs and consider them members of our family. When I first visited Wags, I thought I was already doing the very best for my dogs in terms of the food I was giving, but I discovered that I had a lot to learn and a lot of room for improving. I don't mean to suggest that I was made to feel bad or irresponsible for what I had been doing previously. On the contrary, I was given respect and encouragement in wanting to improve my dogs' diets and health. Janelle generously and patiently helped me through a process of changing and trying various foods. She did this by educating me about each food - their benefits or shortfalls - and about the overwhelmingly deceptive and destructive mainstream pet food industry. In case you're wondering, no, this wasn't merely in order to sell her products, though she has every right, as a business owner, to promote them. No it was so much more than that. When Janelle and her staff promote the foods, supplements, toys and chews they sell, it isn't just about money. In fact, I think it has more to do with their love of animals and their passionate commitment to helping pet owners give their pets the very best chance at long, healthy lives. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I was feeding them garbage before. I was giving them a grain-free, protein based kibble that wasn't cheap and was sold at all of the chain pet stores. I recently moved to Plainfield and randomly stopped into Wags to Whiskers to buy my cats' food (Fromm brand which isn't sold at most Pet Stores like Petsmart, etc.) The owner, Janelle, was very welcoming and told me a little about her store, as I was a new customer. I mentioned how one of my dogs was recently very sick and diagnosed with pancreatitis. Janelle is SO knowledgeable about pet health and gave me tons of info about nutrition and feeding a raw diet. I left with some raw goats milk and a probiotic powder to add to my dogs food. She also gave me free samples of food for my cats. It inspired me to do more research into the raw diet which I'm transitioning my dogs into. My pups go crazy at feeding times because they love their new food!! I've been here a few times for dog food and the staff is very friendly! They have a reward program if you buy a certain number of bags (10 I think) you get one free. However, their prices are higher than other local stores (at least it is for the food I purchase) and they do not price match, which is disappointing. For that reason I will not be a returning customer unless I'm in a bind for food. read more

We LOVE Wags to Whiskers! Over the past few months we have overhauled our dogs' nutrition to grain free dog food and treats. The employees were so helpful with tips on making the transition to the new grain free food. They also gave us samples of just about every grain free food they sell there to see which ones our dogs would like best. The staff is always super friendly. They also have groomers and a self wash station. I feel the prices are reasonable especially for the specialty foods. They have only the best dog foods as well as raw food. Since starting the grain free diet my dogs have so much more energy and their coats have improved as well. read more

Always prefer to support local businesses if given the opportunity. Wags to whiskers is just that. They carry a wide variety of high quality dog food at competitive prices. Their staff is knowledgeable. And they turn their inventory more frequently than some of the other larger stores in the area. The food has always been fresh. I have never used their grooming services. However I have used their self serve dog baths. There's something nice about being able to bathe your dog and not have to clean up after yourself. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the self-service option! They provide ALL the stuff needed to easily groom your dog without the hassle of messing up your home. I have back issues and find it difficult to bend over a conventional tub. The elevated tub is excellent for getting your baby clean! Not to mention the knowledge base of the staff is aaawwwweessoooommmee! My dog has irritable bowel syndrome and they have made several spot-on recommendations for both food and treats that my baby just loves! I have two retired racing greyhounds and one of them is getting on in years. He is a sensitive soul to say the least. Taking him to the local Petco for a grooming is always an ordeal. The younger dog is not so easily rattled. We have a routine after we board the dogs to go directly to get them groomed to get the stank of a dozen dogs washed away. This time both dogs were unusually nervous going into the grooming area--to the point where we didn't feel comfortable leaving them. We remembered our neighbor mentioning Wags to Whiskers so we called to see if tubs were open. We lucked out and were able to get right in. My old boy had some issues getting into the tub, and it was probably the 2nd to least favorite place he rather would have been, but I believe having US being the ones shampooing him was infinitely better for his well-being. They had plenty of shampoo options, spritz options, washcloths, towels, and even blow dryers. (Pups wanted no piece of those!) Fifteen bucks apiece. A bargain! read more
