The guard had seen us enter the store and go through checkout. We also had donuts we had purchased earlier from a bakery, and because we did not have a bag, he apparently assumed we had stolen something. Being publicly confronted and treated like thieves was humiliating and upsetting. The entire experience left us feeling singled out and profiled. Customers should be treated with respect and not subjected to accusations without evidence. This was an extremely unpleasant experience, and as a result, we will not be returning to Zion Market.I attempted to show my receipt to this security guard he refused to look at it and worst of all never apologize for after accusing us of taking something without paying. i'll tell you what's even worse is that the milk for half a gallon of organic milk was 899/ three dollars more than the other grocery stores this place is out of control. what happens when you assume?

When I lived in SD 3 years ago, Nijiya always had such an amazing selection of produce, shelf items, sushi, korokke, miso (I didn't see こだわってます today tho)... and today was no different even though it's a holiday. Super well stocked and clean, bright, welcoming. They always have like 5 different varieties of negitoro which is my fav. I can't even tell you how comforting it is to come back after 3 years in Ohio lol I love that they have herbs and plants outside. Can't wait to buy some and inevitably kill them by accident later :) Staff is always sooo sweet here. The line always moves really quickly. Fish quality is always so fresh and delicious. Maybe the bento boxes etc aren't as flashy as Mitsuwa (from what I remember) but they are tasty and not super expensive. I also love that they have so many types of korokke and yakitori. I am so glad to be back and soooo glad to get my comfort food & feeling from Nijiya today. いつもありがとうございます!!!

You walk in expecting Vons. You get Saigon. The produce section alone deserves its own theme music. Herbs, mushrooms, greens you didn't even know had names -- all fresher and cheaper than anything your American supermarket is pretending to offer. It's a straight-up cornucopia. Then you hit the meat counter and suddenly Ralphs and Vons feel like they should issue an apology. Marrow bones, femurs, trotters -- if you're making pho, ramen, chicken stock, or just want to feel like a culinary warlock, this is your playground. You will walk out with ingredients you didn't plan on buying and absolutely no regrets. Every aisle has some kind of delightful chaos. Dried pineapple flowers for homemade bitters for your signature cocktail? Absolutely. Industrial-sized bags of frog meat? Listen... maybe not for me. But if you need it, this is the place. No judgment, only abundance. It's as big as any mainstream grocery store, but stocked with so much cool stuff it feels like a teleportation portal to Southeast Asia. We sampled several unfamiliar liqueurs, including their version of eggnog liqueur, which was delicious. The honey liqueur was also intriguing, with a strong liquor proof and a sweet, honey flavor. The market offered a variety of meats, but the smoked herring, pickled herring, smoked sprats, and smoked mackerel, smoked tuna caught my eye. Having seen Russians enjoying these kinds of fish in their mukbang videos, I was curious to try them. Although I didn't purchase the smoked mackerel and smoked tuna, i got the smoked and pickled herring and it was delicious. The staff were helpful and nice. The Euro market had a range of good products, it's small but it carries a lot of good stuff including turkey sweets, like a kind of nougat with an interesting taste, its sugary and very sweet. Overall, the event was a nice experience. We've tasted a lot of new flavors. It was nice to know a little bit about European culture, particularly their food. Thank you!

My own Michigan Polish/Maliszewski family (I am fourth generation, back in Lincoln Park, and still cook Polish for my family when I visit there) did not garnish savory farmer's cheese pierogis with caramelized onions and scallions dipped in garlic-sour cream sauce or ever add fresh dill to the filling --but it is a delicious touch! ) In Michigan, we boiled them slightly in salted water till they floated to the top, drained the water off, then lightly browned them in butter and served them alongside a dollop of cold sour cream. I am very impressed at the quality of the food here, the lightness of the dumpling dough, and definitely had a delicious dinner in my car, a first for me in the 36 years I've lived in CA. We picked up a meatball sandwich, the chicken cutlet and the Americano sandwich for take-away. It's a walk-up and pay kind of spot where you can either sit and eat it there in a casual environment, or get it to-go. We would have eaten there but had plans with a friend and bring some food over already...So we picked up a couple of things from the well-curated market as well. --About the food --- It's so hard to choose a favorite because each sandwich was worthy of getting on-repeat. But, if I had to choose I'd say the meatball was my perfect bite- the sauce was phenomenal, the basil and fresh mozzarella on their choice of bread gave it a unique edge on other meatball sandwiches around town. The bread is amazing I can't stress that enough! It's airy with chew and the perfect crunch. I really can't wait to go in and try some pizza- might try it tomorrow?
