    Asian snacks

Looking for lunch places in Miramar, Sumo Go popped up. It's a very small casual restaurant where you order at the counter and your food comes out. They have a small area of tables if you choose to eat there. They are known for their unadon, teriyaki bowls, matcha drinks, and egg sandos. While you wait for your food, you can shop at their convenient store filled with imported Japanese snacks and drinks. Our food came out within a few minutes. The food was tasty and flavorful. The guy working there was kind enough to offer me a little more curry as he saw I ran out before I finished my rice. I felt the prices were a little high given its casual Japanese food between $16-28 per entree. But overall solid food that was filling.

Overview: authentic, delicious Japanese food, such welcoming service, and a very wide variety of snacks ---- I'm so glad that Sumo Go (aka Sumo Size at the farmers' markets) has a physical location close to my work! It makes it so much more convenient instead of going to farmers' markets like OB and having to struggle to find parking. Here they are located in a shared plaza so there are plenty of spots! My go-to favorite thing to order is their Una Don $18 reg / $28 sumosize (large). The eel is so tender and melt-in-your-mouth, each bite feels like it transports me back to Japan. It comes on a bed of rice and coated with their homemade teriyaki sauce which was the perfect amount. The eel filets were huge and filling, the price is basically like ordering an eel sushi roll and getting 2-3 times the amount of eel that you would get (so much more worth it in my opinion)! ---- It's a very convenient store, with prepackaged food like katsu sandos and egg salad sandos, so many snacks (aisles and aisles of them!), both matcha and coffee drinks (around $7-8ish), and cookies! ---- The service is so friendly and welcoming, everyone here is so polite and the interactions made my day! There is both inside and outside seating, which you can either grab your bowl to-go or eat it there. It was very clean and neat. I love how well organized their snack aisles are! Literally so many snacks to choose from, it was amazing to peruse around the aisles looking at all of the different kinds of things they had. ---- Overall: come by for a convenient place for delicious food, no longer do you have to venture out to farmers' markets for these wonderful dishes! not only is the food great, their service, variety of items, and drinks were all astounding, thank you for being here!!!

I stopped by this place on a whim and was delighted to see the selection of Asian snacks they had. I got cool items like strawberry Oreos and various Asian flavored lays chips (like fried crab). The establishment is not huge and has just a few tables and chairs along with a few shelves of snacks. The staff working was friendly and I have no complaints about the service. My only issue was I found the restaurant portion to be a bit on the expensive side. We got an order of orange pork and it was definitely on the small side for what we paid. We also got suimai but those were tiny as well (about 1/4 the size of what I was expecting). Overall however, I'll be back to raid their selection of snacks.

Sumo Go is amazing!!! Gyu don curry is a perfect food, my comfort food. HUGE portions, the large is like 4 meals. Great flavor, a really nice person took my order and made sure that my drink was not too sweet. Really really kind!! There are some tables inside and outside to eat. There's a lychee at the bottom of the lychee matcha!!! Tons of fun products in the store. This place is seriously awesome!!! Can't wait to come back!

I'm obsessed with anything Japanese, so I was excited to check out Sumo Go. It's a small, cozy spot where you can sit down and eat, but also great if you're just stopping by to grab snacks and drinks to go. They have a good selection of Japanese chips, candy, and snacks. I was excited to see katsu and egg salad sandos! Egg sando doesn't taste like the ones from 7-Eleven or FamilyMart in Japan, but they're still really tasty. My favorite thing was the Orange Candied Oat Latte. It was so good! It wasn't overly sweet, and the orange paired so well with the coffee. Such a unique drink, I will be back to order it again :)

Quick lunch today my wife suggested that we try this place. More like a restaurant/convenience food store. They had tasteful music going on. Some tables off to the side but most of the tables and chairs were outside. Perfect since we brought our corgi. Service was good and relatively fast. I got their curry bowl with pork cutlets and my wife got oyakudon bowl. Both hit the spot. For drinks my wife got the lychee matcha, and I got the Ramu Bottle in original flavor. Price was right, close to our home in Mira Mesa, and our dog was happy to come along. A Win-Win for us! Yes we'll fit them in our round table of places to eat.

Sumo Go is a combination eatery and grocery store in the Miramar neighborhood. Their end suite used to be the home of a short-lived South African restaurant. Parking spaces were plentiful in the plaza lot. Four small tables were placed outside for al fresco dining. A similar number of larger tables were inside along the right windows. Upon entering, multiple sets of shelves greeted you with displays of various Asian dried goods. A refrigerated display in the back left corner held items like sandos, cake rolls, and prepackaged beverages. The service counter was in the back right of the room. A menu board hung behind the counter that featured rice bowls with different kinds of proteins as the main food offerings. Three of the bowls were available in medium ($18) and large ($28) sizes. Several hot snacks were also available. For drinks, espresso, matcha, and lattes were the main choices. My takeout order consisted of the Shumai as a snack and the Gyu Don Curry as an entree. The Shumai (or pork hash as known to some) came as nine dumplings. To my surprise, they were like fritters with a creamy instead of meaty interior. I wonder if the kitchen mistakenly served takoyaki instead because I have never encountered shumai like what I was given. The curry was made up of thinly sliced beef, onions, potatoes, carrots, and white rice. The brown sauce was mildly spicy and flavorful. The large portion that I purchased was sufficient to feed 2-3 people. The worker who took my order was very pleasant. The Gyu Don Curry by itself was between four and five stars. On the other hand, the Shumai was somewhere between two and three stars. Overall, I rounded my takeout experience at Sumo Go to a four star level.

Okay, this review is going to be a little all over the place because my brain gets excited when I find a good matcha. First things first... the double matcha was AMAZING. Smooth, earthy, not overly sweet, and it actually tasted like quality matcha instead of sugary green milk. I've had a lot of matcha around San Diego (probably more than my wallet would like to admit), and Sumo Go is officially in my top 3 matcha spots in San Diego. That's saying something. I actually haven't tried the food yet, but I stood there staring at everyone else's orders and everything looked bomb. They have donburi bowls, sandos, curry, karaage, Japanese snacks... basically all the things I already know I'm going to come back for. One thing I wasn't expecting was how cute the shop is. It's not just a place to grab a drink--they have shelves full of Japanese snacks, drinks, instant ramen, ice cream, and little treats that make you want to wander around for a few minutes before you leave. And can we appreciate the location? It's literally right below the dispensary... so if you happen to get the munchies, you don't have to think too hard about your next stop. Whoever planned that deserves a raise. The staff was super friendly, the place was clean, and the vibe was really welcoming. I already know I'll be back to work my way through the menu because if the food is even half as good as that matcha, it's going to be dangerous for my bank account. 10/10. Highly recommend if you're a fellow matcha snob.

I love how this place has such a great selection of food. My favorite dish was hands down the large unadon. The eel was perfectly grilled, and I also really enjoyed their house made teriyaki sauce. I had enough to bring the other half home for a second meal. I also got to eat some of my husband's large gyudon curry. We thought it was unique because most places have chicken katsu curry, but not gyudon curry. This was also delicious. We ordered a matcha lychee cloud kori, and enjoyed the lychee flavor. We also got a large matcha einspanner, but felt like it'd be best with a bit of oat milk for added flavor. There are about 5 small tables inside for you to enjoy your food and drinks. You can also buy snacks, desserts, and drinks that are prepackaged if you're looking for a quick grab and go. Service wise, they're efficient and also check in to see if you're enjoying your food and drinks. I really enjoy Sumo Go, and will definitely be back!

Very cute store with yummy food. The workers are very kind. For the unagi bowl, it had a bit too much sauce for my liking which made it slightly too salty, but I enjoyed it a lot because the unagi had a nice taste. I would like to come back to try other signature drinks because they were a good balance of sweetness and flavor.

Sumo Go is an absolute gem and now a Go-To spot for me! They specialize in high quality food, drinks, and snacks from Japan. I was ravenous for an early lunch and we ordered a large Gyu Don curry ($28) and large Una Don ($28). The large size is absolutely the way to go - as the owner described it - you get double the food for not double the price (regular size is $18). The portions are huge and the food was so delicious, fresh, it blew me away. It was plenty to bring back for dinner. The unagi was perfect cooked and we got an entire filet with the large size order. I couldn't stop eating the Gyu Don curry. When we left the owner even stopped by to offer some curry to go and some boxes and bags. Awesome service! We also ordered a matcha einspanner. My only recommendation would be to offer this drink with oat milk as it was made only with water. They have a few tables inside and outside. Overall this place is awesome!

Came here for the first time and was blown away by how many snacks they sell from my childhood! My husband and I shared a Unadon, a chicken karaage and their seasonal strawberry matcha drink. The unadon sumo size is HUGE and enough for the two of us to share. The flavor was 10/10! The karaage flavor was also really good but bit on the dry side so it may just be the cut of meat we got. Strawberry Matcha Latte was amazing! They definitely use quality matcha here and bonus points for oat milk alternatives! Staff was also super nice and we got our food pretty quickly! Can't wait to come back!

There were so many sandwiches, cheesecakes, and bakery items to choose from that I had a hard time deciding. The staff was so kind and recommended some items. My favorite was definitely the greenhouse sandwich. The vegetables were incredibly fresh, and the bagel was warmed just right. I also tried a few bakery items. The double matcha canelé had a great texture with a crisp exterior and soft interior, but my absolute favorite was the double early grey financier. The earl grey flavor really stood out and made it the winner for me. I also tried the yuzu cheesecake, but honestly, it didn't taste too different from the lime cheesecakes I've had elsewhere. The cafe has plenty of tables and chairs, making it a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy your time chatting with a friend or working/studying. Matcha latte - 25% sweetness, I can actually taste the matcha, which is rare for San Diego. Injeolmi matcha - 50% sweet, I can taste the injeolmi flavor but it's not overpowering so a good balance Sweet rum flavored canele - I've been getting into canele recently so I tried this one. Unfortunately this canele was pretty mediocre. The outside is supposed to be crispy and crunchy, but this one seems not as fresh. The inside is still nice gooey Ube cheesecake - a good cheesecake. If you like cheesecake, they have so many flavors available.

It was a nice day, so we opted for one of the comfy sofas outside. There were tables and chairs, as well as lounge chairs, sofas, and low tables. For active pets, there's a wooden deck play area. For this visit, I ordered the Açaí bowl and a cappuccino. I loved the presentation of my açaí bowl and the assortment of fresh fruits (strawberries, blueberries, and bananas). It also had dried dates, honeycomb, hemp seeds, pistachios, coconut flakes, toasted oats, and cacao nibs. My pup loved the blueberries! The cappuccino was good, but was rather small. My friend ordered the Akuri Wrap, side of sourdough toast, and Desi Chai. She thought the wrap could've used a pinch of salt. The Desi chai was nicely flavored, but was a bit grainy. The sourdough was notably one of the best we've had, and we wondered where these were made. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and look forward to coming back. Service was friendly
