I walked by this place a few times and finally decided to give it a try. I ordered their Our Burger, Sweet Potato Tots, and a drink. The burger tasted good cause the bun was a brioche bun with cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and Wahl sauce. The Sweet Potato Tots were crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. It was easy to keep eating them. The service was friendly and good. I was welcomed when I walked in and they even brought your food to the table if you ate there. First visit and disappointed. Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the full bar. Strange for a burger joint. With the many TVs hanging, it's hard to figure out if this is a sports bar or a burger place. Looking at the menu, they don't offer any type of combinations like 'burger with fries and drink'. The burger I ordered was the bbq bacon, and it was just a basic flat burger with no flavor. The onion strings pretty much needed to go with the burger to make it edible. The prices are above average for what you get, so that doesn't help. The staff was friendly, and the food was served quickly. As for cleanliness, the table tops were so sticky that the napkins stuck to the table. For being a celebrity owned chain, I expected better quality than the golden arches have to offer. There's not many burger places around in Burlingame so Wahlburger is definitely a great addition to the neighborhood! Came during their soft opening and it was quite busy. They are still working on adding more items to the menu. Meanwhile, I got to try their BBQ bacon burger and added some caramelized onions. It added so much flavor along with the sweet and tangy bbq sauce. Highly recommend adding it to any of the burgers you get! Also got to try their sweet potato tots which not many places have. Paired with their Honey mustard garlic sauce... chefs kiss. Their coffee milkshake was refreshing as well and much needed on this hot day. Staff were really nice and welcoming! Newly opened Wahlburger in Burlingame. Me and bae got a crispy fish, double decker cheese burger, tater tots, and a black and white shake. I would recommend the onion to be grilled for the double decker. I would recommend to add a cheese with the crispy fish. Ask for some sauces for the tater tots. Not sure what we got, I just asked for any sauce and it made the food even more bangin. Definitely a yummy joint to eat. FRIES: Ask for them well done. They are sort of McDonald's style in their size and shape. SWEET POTATO TOTS: Good but a little too sweet for my style. Great dipped in mayo. Ok, we need to talk about this place. I honestly think this place is stigmatized by the name. People automatically think it's some sort of gimmick like Bubba Gump Shrimp. This couldn't be further from the truth. If there's a better burger in the area with great fries/tots for this price point, I'd like to know. It's not fast, but it is good and people, if you are going to put in this type of carb and fat into your system, make sure its worth it, and not just because it's "cheap." This dining experience was a complete train wreck. First flag was how the cashier was completely incompetent, and a gentleman from the food prep line had to come help her enter our order. We had simple requests like no cheese, no sauce. At least the food prep employee removed his gloves. Next flag was the bathrooms, which were horrendous. one was broken with the door open and a huge mess in the toilet. It was gross. the other one was barely useable. Next up, the tables were sticky and for some reason there were very few tables with 4 seats. When the food came, which was quick, it was clear that little effort was put into the food. the buns were soggy and flat, and they screwed up and put cheese on one of the burgers. and the meet... it was soft, and mushy. was it really beef, or was it that "pink ooze" that i once saw on the news. We only managed to finish eating them because they were so small. The fries were good though. we got the plain and not the truffle version... In summary, we left in a hurry. this location is terrible, I have never been to this business before and I regret to say I would never go back. Not sure if i would even go to another location if the opportunity came up. In the area there are better burgers (albeit no full bar) at 5 guys, and Maverick Jacks. We've been waiting for this location to open for a while! We noticed it was open while running errands in the area on a Sunday. There were plenty of seats inside, so we decided it was time to check it out! We'd been to Wahlburgers in Las Vegas a few years ago, but the taste and quality of the food was better than I remember! ~ Location, Ambiance and Service ~ They are located right on Burlingame Ave in the center of the action in downtown Burlingame. There is an elevated fast food vibe (similar to The Habit or Shake Shack) where you order at a counter and pick up your food when it's ready. It was pretty quiet since we had just missed most of the Farmer's Market crowd. They have a bar with beer, wine and liquor; there are also around seven (7) TVs on the walls, all with various shows/sports. The staff was super friendly and gave us great recommendations--they encouraged us to try the Spinach & Parmesan Wahlbites, and we were not disappointed. ~ Food ~ * Spinach & Parmesan Wahlbites ($9.25; savory fried spinach, roasted garlic, & parmesan bites served with a honey-garlic sauce): Imagine you deep fried spinach and cheese dip, then served it with a sweet and savory dipping sauce. These were SO GOOD. The breading was light and crispy. The bites themselves were balanced well and had a good flavor. The honey-garlic sauce was next level! I ended up dipping everything in that sauce. * Parmesan Truffle Tots ($7.50; crispy tots. Tossed with Parmesan cheese, truffle oil & chopped parsley, served with Chef Paul's truffle aioli): super crispy and just the right amount of truffle oil to enhance. The truffle aioli was a surprise, especially since we found slices of mushroom in it! Def enough for two to split. * The Super Melt ($13.95; 2 beef burger patties, served between thick-cut bread & grilled with government cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, pickles, and house made mustard sauce): WOW. This was a beast of a burger, I only ate half (but it was still delish the next day). I loved the thick cut bread, and the smoky bacon complimenting the creamy American cheese. I was so excited for Wahlburgers to come to Burlingame. We went with the family today for a late lunch early dinner. The restaurant itself looked at so we thought we would get excellent service. The tables were dirty and the ordering process was quick. I was excited to see a bar and when I went to the male bartender I asked if you could just make me a classic margarita with Casamigos. He advised me he didn't have that tequila and I advised him to make it with whatever he normally uses. Once he handed me my drink I ask for the lime, He states said we just ran out. I would hope at a restaurant the size and caliber they would go and cut me a lime, the margarita tasted horrible and there were something black floating in it. I brought it back to him and asked him instead of this margarita since the bar has no limes or lime juice if you could just give me a Prosecco he proceeded to tell me he didn't have that and he only had white wines. He made NO effort Offer any other alternatives. I literally left a drink at the bar and walked away and sat to finish my lunch. Amazing discovery! I thought a celebrity owned restaurant would cruise along using their name. But this was the very best takeout burger order I have had since moving to the Bay Area ten years ago. My husband had a standard burger and I had an Impossible burger. We had sides of onion rings and sweet potato tots. We also had a chicken salad and a caesar salad. Best onion rings - thin, crunchy, stringy - astounding that it was only $4. We usually are lucky to have four rings apiece from an order, but we barely made a dent in this deliciousness. The food was ready for pickup when I arrived and there was a dedicated window so I didn't have to wait on line. Are all Wahlburgers cursed with a "meh" 3.5-star overall rating? I passed up a few Boston locations because of this, & when I finally tried them in Vegas, ended up with a 3.5-star experience. My first visit to the newly-opened Burlingame store proved to be a solid 4-stars. I guess you can say they've got "The Right Stuff." My lunch companion ordered a Crispy Chicken Ranch Sandwich, side of Fries, & a Root Beer Float. I ordered The Our Burger with caramelized onions which was cooked perfectly well done just as I had requested. Enjoyed all the flavors going on. Love that the Wahlberg brothers use government cheese as an homage to their upbringing. Would've liked a bit more Wahl sauce but I could've easily asked for some on the side. Though not a huge amount of actual truffle flavoring, the Parmesan Truffle Tots satisfied my need for a fried, crispy potato to go alongside my burger. For almost 800 calories, the mocha shake was not the decadent thick & flavorful drink I was hoping for, so I'd definitely pass on the shake next time. The Burlingame location of Wahlburgers was many months in the making, but this casual chain from Dorchester, MA has finally landed! The Impossible Burger came with a plant-based patty, smoked cheddar, lettuce, chili spiced tomatoes, and caramelized onions on a soft toasted bun, along with a 1000 Island-like "Wahl Sauce." I also got the Jenn's Chicken salad, made of mixed greens topped with crispy onions, roasted cherry tomatoes, avocado, and seared chicken breast topped with caramelized onions, served with a creamy honey-garlic dressing. For starters, a sports bar with no bartender?? What would Mark W. think of that? I have been in multiple times (weekdays, weekends, various times) and no bartender. Though there was that one random Thursday afternoon, and she and I both knew that was a moment. FYI, I generally give a restaurant a few tries, to be realistic and fair, before never returning. Guys, I have great respect for all restaurant staff, and have had servers and cooks in my family, so please understand that is not what this is about. Here goes-- Usual busy sunny Sunday in downtown Burlingame today, May 18th, with lots of people out enjoying the Fresh Market, and our many restaurants were chock full of customers, except (as usual) for Wahlburgers (see photos)...For me, today was its last chance, I am done. I was foolishly hoping to treat myself to a weekend Bloody Mary (there was that random Thursday that left me a glimmer of hope) but settled for the guy operating the register opening a Corona for me. Not unexpected, so ordered their Wahlburger and side of fries. They seem to have downgraded the quality of beef, as well it's now a 'Wendy's square'. There was so much greasy red juice running out of it that I had to put a pile of napkins on my plate to soak it up. A pile. I had them leave their sauce off as the burger mess is unmanageable with it. The "government cheese" was a cold slab/not melted, and the worst part was the *undercooked* meat. Not cooked medium (as he claimed) , rather it was obviously undercooked/too raw. I told him they need to use a meat thermometer, so he said they do (not, obviously). This had not been my experience eating their burgers previously, I know the difference. And we could both see it. He claimed they have not had any "complaints" so first I told him to look around the empty restaurant...second I told him this was not a "complaint" but a HEALTH CONCERN. Again, empty restaurant on a busy Sunday afternoon...So, I decided to ask for a refund just for the burger...Between him and the woman doing the cooking (the only staff) they could not figure out after 5 minutes how to refund a debit card, so they ended up giving me cash (which I don't carry). In my opinion, and clearly that of a lot of other people here in downtown, enough is enough--Wahlburgers needs to go, and make space for a restaurant/business that we can enjoy, and count on. PS As others have noted here, a bit ago Wahlburgers had taped a notebook sized sheet of paper in the front window by the locked door and handwritten that they were "closed for renovations".
