We chose Wahoo's after noticing several Yelp reviewers rave about the Key lime pie, and I'm glad we listened. The Key Lime Colada was excellent and the perfect way to start our meal. We also enjoyed the conch fritters, which were crisp, flavorful, and a great Keys appetizer. For entrees, I had the fried grouper sandwich with sweet potato fries, while my wife enjoyed the shrimp Alfredo and skirt steak. Everything was well prepared, generously portioned, and served by a friendly and attentive team. But the star was the Key lime pie. As someone who learned to make Key lime pie at the Hyatt Key West in the mid-1990s, I have a particular fondness for the classic custard-and-meringue style. Wahoo's version was outstanding: light custard, beautiful meringue, and a subtly nutty crust. After trying several highly regarded pies during this trip, this was our favorite. This was next door to our hotel so we decided to give it a whirl. So good! We sat out on the balcony area which wasn't the best idea since it was cold and windy, but it was a beautiful view! We came here after leaving Isla Morada. We were starving and some of our friends suggested it. Once again they are pet friendly and that's the main reason we decided to eat there. My husband got a pound of shrimp which he devoured. And I got the shrimp linguine. Which I'm a sucker for. Everything was delicious. The views were amazing and max really liked seeing the fake shark they have on the bottom . Everyone was really nice especially to max. They brought him a bowl of water which he said was top tier. The million dollar view of the islamorada sand bar was outstanding with a cold Aperol spritz in my hand. The fish dip was excellent and the cucumber and onions were crisp and the chips did not fall apart when scooping up the fish. The waitress was kind and helpful. We've been stopping here for over 5 years, we sit up top with a beautiful view and a very attentive young lady that runs the bar, drink's and view are the best, last month we stopped and had the wahoo bites, tasted great but we both got sick to our butts 2 hours later, we thought we had a Little bug, today on the way back from Key West, we stopped in as usual, we again ordered the wahoo bites and a couple bears, no sooner do we get home we both (not together) blow up the toilet, I know they had a change of management within the last year, I'm thinking maybe the kitchen isn't running as smoothly as it should be and sauces are left out too long, it's a shame, will continue to stop in at wahoo's to see the young lady up top in the open bar for the view and drinks, but we'll have to find another place to get a bite to eat! We have been coming to Islamorada for years and usually have a group of staple places but we decided to stop by here because our son thought it looked fun and we really enjoyed it! We just spent 5 weeks in Key West (with some amazing meals) but this was one of the best lunches on the keys. My husband had a friedgrouper sandwich that was intensely fresh and flavorful and very light. Barely any coating and a lovely caper sauce. I had the crab mango salad, but switched it out for grilled shrimp when I heard that the crab was in mayonnaise. An exceptionally fresh and delicious salad with a very light buttermilk dressing.
