Used to go here all the time as a kid with my family and absolutely loved it. The food, the service and atmosphere were always what brought us coming back. Decided to go back for lunch after not going for 5+ years. The service and atmosphere has not changed in the best way possible, it brought back a lot of nostalgia. I will say the quality of the food has significantly declined. My friend and I both got chicken burritos in which the portion was huge, but gave us both bad food poisoning. We both got the apple cinnamon horchata tequila drink and absolutely loved it. It was so yummy and for $6 you really can't beat it. First time here and I'm a big fan of bowls so I ordered the Banzai Bowl with mild wahoo. It wasn't really a bowl -- more like a plated entree. There was a good sized piece of Wahoo on top of rice, black beans and mixed vegetables. I wish I'd ordered the Cajun wahoo -- the mild was kind of plain. Luckily there was a salsa bar with lots of delicious, fresh salsas to doctor it up. The vegetables were a little odd -- they had a sweet teriyaki Asian flavor. They were good but didn't seem to fit with the other southwestern/ Cajun flavors. My brown rice was not quite all the way cooked-- a little crunchy. This location is outstanding. The service is friendly and the restaurant is clean, with a fresh salsa bar to personalize your order. We love the green salsa and fresh jalapeños. The tacos are loaded with plenty of fish and are on two corn tortillas so they don't fall apart. The cauliflower rice is a great option for the carb conscience customer. The patio has a wonderful view of the front range. Lots of beverages to choose from, including some local beers on tap. The quality and over experience don't take a chunk out of your wallet either. I love Wahoo's! No joke I've been to almost every single Colorado and California location. This location wins the prize for worst service. I asked to substitute one protein for another in a burrito and was charged $3 more (without being told no less) despite both proteins being the same cost on the menu... I'm not convinced that not putting chicken, and putting grilled fish in a burrito instead is worth essentially a $3 service fee. It doesn't make sense in that it's rated as 4 out of 5 stars here on Yelp, and it was decently packed when my husband and I went in for lunch yesterday but... When it arrived, it looked decently appetizing but then we started to eat and gave each other looks like, "uhhhh was this fished out of the trash?"... My husband finally asked me out loud what I thought and me being a positive person couldn't figure out how to say that I felt like I was eating expired dog food from a can in the nicest way possible. But seriously, as I neared the end of my meal, cause I tried my best to eat it (I hate food waste), I actually wound up just spitting the rest of my meal out into my napkin. I live 5 minutes from this place and eat there frequently for lunch. Food is dependable and good! Prices are good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice mountain view over the parking lot on the patio. Only one negative that I can mention: the music on the patio is always too loud and mostly bad. It makes you want to leave before your food is served. Ask the waiter (politely) to turn it down, and it doesn't happen. Maybe they will read this and do something about it. read more

I hopped in the rental car, called the folks, who said they'd eaten a late lunch and I should grab something light so we can go to dinner. My recent habit has been to hit Which Wich, but I wanted to mix it up. I thought I could find something near Park Meadows Mall, so I turned into a shopping area due to a traffic accident. It must have been the will of the Tiki Gods for me to discover Wahoo's Fish Taco. I was greeted by Goldie, who explained all the different offerings. Then she said, "Do you like fish?" I said, "No, I LOVE fish!" Goldie told me about the fish tacos, and because of their anniversary, the first one would only cost 25 cents! How could I turn that down? Lunch was late and dinner was a few hours away, so I thought, why not try a few fish tacos? I ordered the Grilled, Cajun and Salmon fish tacos, and threw in a Carnitas one as well. Why not? How would I describe the fish tacos? WAHOO! Hmmm...maybe that's what made them think of it. Fresh pieces of fish, and a good size too. Spicy, but not spicy enough for me, so I was happy to see they had hot sauce on the table. What burgers are to In-N-Out, fish tacos are to Wahoo's. The decor was beach-themed, not fancy, but clean. I grabbed a handful of their stickers, thanked Goldie and asked about other locations. I was totally stoked to see they have a location in the Springs so I could take my folks, but bummed out later to find out it had closed. Delicious burritos, tacos, salads and other options. I had the banzai burrito with grilled fish (salmon is another option). I like it smothered (cheese and Chile). If you ask for it Christmas style they do half green and half red. I'm fairly certain all of their chiles are vegetarian. They have a kids menu which is great as kids barely eat those portions. The only reason for 4 stars is that more tables than not were dirty so finding a place to sit was challenging. Easy fix for the staff. read more

First timer here! Upon entering... I was excited to try the long awaited wahoo tacos. Specifically the paleo plate! It was clean, open and inviting... but then I got to the counter and the cashier was less than thrilled to be working, $16 for paleo plate and side of cauliflower rice?? I thought that was a little steep, but I'm not sure the quality of food here. Didn't taste like it was amazing quality. Slaw was the bomb, grilled salmon and grilled wahoo was tasty but everything else was full of onions: guacamole had more than I expected and cauliflower rice was unbearable. I couldn't eat it. First timer! I have always seen Wahoo's but have never tried it until recently and I don't know why I didn't try it sooner! Wahoo's is a trendy and hip taco place. I honestly was slightly confused by what to order as their menu is basically "pick a protein, pick a grain and pick a side". So, I had to look up each of what I should get. I ordered grilled wahoo fish with white rice & pico with a side of mango salsa! They now serve cauliflower rice which I want to try on my next visit! We also ordered some chips and salsa and OH MAN the salsa was so good, I wanted to eat the whole basket of chips with the whole bowl of salsa. I was very satisfied with the food. The portions are a good size also! The staff - oh my goodness so friendly! The manager on duty was cleaning tables, making sure the restaurant looked tidy, asking customers how their orders were. I really appreciated the friendliness of the staff. I think in the 45 min we were there at least 3 staff members asked how everything was and if they could get us anything. The staff also had our food out in a quickly manner and it was a busy Saturday so I was also shocked by that. Definitely a trendy little stop to eat, you won't regret it! read more

We are gig fans of fish tacos but haven't tried Wahoo's until recently and we are glad we did. Living in Colorado makes it difficult to find the California fresh quality but Wahoo's came pretty close. We ordered: Cajun fish taco Outer reef carnitas Grilled fish bowl Taco grilled fish Outer reef shrimp Margaritas All were very good, especially the outer reefs (carnitas and shrimp), and grilled fish items. The Cajun fish was fine but I could not tell the difference between the Cajun and regular versions (need more spice on the Cajun). We didn't finish the margaritas as they were too sweet, we wound order these again. Overall, Wahoo's is a good solution for us in Colorado. read more

While the food we ordered at Wahoo's was about 3 stars in my opinion, I do think that one of the dishes we got was just not the right dish to get at this restaurant. Looking around the portion sizes seemed very generous for items off the menu, unlike the street tacos we ordered that were on a special. The paleo platter was actually not too bad. I was definitely expecting to get less fish for the price, but was pleasantly surprised. The paleo platter comes with 2 choices of protein, fajita veggies, slaw and some guac. The slaw was ok and the amount of guac was a bit on the small side. The veggies were okay as well, nothing to rave about though it did have a variety of veggies (versus just bell peppers etc like you might get in some restaurants). For protein I had the shrimp and Cajun wahoo; honestly the shrimp is more than likely pre-frozen but I didn't really care because it was still cooked nicely and was covered in a delicious sauce. If I were to come here again, I'd definitely get the shrimp. The amount of Cajun wahoo on the plate was quite a bit, so much so that I couldn't finish it. With that said the fish was also a bit dried out and slightly bland. The dryness didn't bother one as much if you ate the fish with a bit of guac. I'd recommend maybe getting a sauce on the side for the fish, just because of how dry it is. With that said maybe the grilled option would be better? Husband got the street taco special with 2 carnitas tacos and 1 with chicken. They looked underwhelming from across the table, and my husband said they're quite meh. We were expecting street tacos to be small, but we were also expecting them to come with some lime on the side and have double taco and not just a single taco. We wouldn't order this item again, that's for sure. Still I don't want to give Wahoo's any less than 4 stars simply because we didn't order the right foods the one time we stopped by here. The food on other tables did look great and had sizable portions, and if we're ever back I'll likely try one of their burritos, which looked like it could feed at least 2 people if not more. read more

We decided to try this place out since we were shopping near the area. Easy to find location. Ample parking with handicapped spaced. Handicapped entrance. As soon as you enter this place, it seems like a hippie den. There are stickers plastered all the place. We got chips salsa and guac to start off. This place is a 'order before you sit' deal. The wife got the mango kale salad with chicken and I got the Banzai burrito with beef. The food came out pretty quick. The quantity did not disappoint at all. The flavors were exotic. Ok so you have to be frugal using their menu to keep this one under $10, but Wahoo's is worth the splurge. They were my first exposure to fish tacos in the US, and they're a great place to bust your cherry! At least for this location, Wahoo's has an excellent recruitment procedure, the staff is on a very cool vibe, and I don't quite know how they do it without getting hired on myself. I would definitely like some insight in their hiring and training methods! They do franchise so I am really curious about other Wahoo's experiences with staff. I'm a big fan of the BYOS (bring your own stickers) that must be their policy unless it is complex marketing scheme (I find hard to believe), but I am a fan of such decorations, I have one myself on my mini fridge (a college age relic I will never disown!). The price actually varies, as they have a clever pricing tier that involves buying up, as in "smothering" your meal, at least at this location, I notice it is not mentioned on their website's menu (which does show pricing!). The savvy or calorie watching customer will most likely pass on this option, but other buy ups, like guac and shrimp, can be enticing. Service is fast, and designed to get you seated, so it's almost like they prefer you dine in house, as opposed to other blended (carry out/dine in) restaurants who have an all "to go" line. The green sauce is light and different. I cannot resist ordering a side of Mr Lee's hot sauce...just wish it was not so costly. The paleo boxes were missing items, coleslaw in one and fajita veggies in another. The burrito was missing chicken so was just rice and beans. Wasn't worth it to make a 45 minute round trip to try and get the orders fixed. If you go here make sure to check your order before you walk out!
