We were excited to come back and support Los Dos Potrillos after hearing they had reopened following the kitchen fire. We understand they're probably still working through some challenges since this was only their second night back. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The restaurant's posted closing time is 10:00 p.m., but around 9:37 p.m. the lights were shut off while we were still dining, which made us feel rushed and unwelcome. To make matters worse, our waitress disappeared for the last 30-40 minutes of our meal. We never saw her again to check on us, refill drinks, or bring our check. We ended up having to get the hostess to help us so we could pay and leave. We genuinely wanted to support the restaurant and hope this was just part of the growing pains of reopening. However, if the kitchen or dining room needs to close earlier during this period, it would be much better to communicate that to customers rather than making guests feel rushed out before the posted closing time. We truly hope things improve because we've enjoyed coming here in the past and want to continue supporting the restaurant. read more

Pretty solid for Tex-mex in Colorado! Came in on a busy Tuesday night. Lot was pretty packed. Was able to get seated quickly and knew what we already wanted for dinner. So ordered drinks and food at the same time. Our server did forget our waters and food came out before. Ordered queso, ceviche, beef and jumbo shrimp fajitas. Queso was really good and actually filled with chilis, onions, tomatoes, etc. (blended not chunks). Ceviche was okay, need more spice and seasoning. Great experience. Ample parking in the lot. I was with a party of four. We were welcomed in and seated promptly. Josie took care of us. My husband and his friend ordered the French Pilsner. I had a taste, that is a delicious brew. I had iced tea as my job was being the designated for our outing. My daughter chose to have a margarita. Since I was with a group, I chose to just focus on what I ordered. I love chile rellenos so that was what I got. I like them soft and their egg batter was delicate. They came smothered in their green chile which is delicious. The were also accompanied by rice, beans and flour tortillas. The tortillas are made in house, highly recommend having an extra order of those for the table, as we did. We also had chips and salsa that were brought to the table when we arrived. We decided to try this place on a Sunday afternoon. The service was good but overall the food was disappointing. The fresh tortillas were great but it did not make up for the green chile. We know green chile and we could tell as soon as it hit the table it wouldn't be up to our standards. It was watery and completely tasteless. Zero spice. If there is no heat there has to be some flavor?! It looked like they used flour to thicken it because it was almost milky looking. The salsa had some heat and great flavor but the giant chunks of canned crushed tomatoes were difficult to eat. Blend it up and it would be perfect. The red sauce on the enchiladas looked and tasted canned. There was just no love in this food. We probably won't be back because it's kind of far and not worth the drive. This was our first visit we chose the Parker restaurant. What a delightful experience! One of the newer restaurants everything inside was clean, gentle lighting, and well taken care of. At 4pm on a Tuesday seating not an issue and our waiter Diego was friendly and very knowledgeable of the offers. We had a few special adjustments to entrees which he happily accommodated. Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch and was quickly seated. They have plenty of staff so the service was great. Someone brought us chips and salsa once we were seated and before our waiter arrived to take our order. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. She was quick to bring us our drinks and was always ready with the refills without requesting it. The food was promptly served. Service is hit or miss - I'm sure that when it's not busy, the service is probably exemplary - on a busy Sunday afternoon/evening, I think they were understaffed for the number of people in the restaurant. As a single diner, I was seated quickly at a high top in the bar area. It took a while for my server to come by although chips and salsa were delivered quickly. Having lots of time to look at the menu, I decided to have a passionfruit margarita and some posole. At first, my server was unsure if they still had any of the delicious soup, but he returned to say that they did, so I got a small bowl instead of the large,as he said, it was rather huge. The frozen passionfruit margarita was quite tasty. I got the "Small" and was glad I did after seeing the huge amount in the large glass being served to someone near me. The posole, when it arrived, was accompanied by cabbage, limes, onions, and radishes. Although not a huge serving, it was plenty for a light meal, especially after chips and salsa! We have been fans and patrons of Los Dos for over a decade. Our go to spot was the Parker location until the Castle Rock spot opened. We quickly became "those people" and were regulars getting to know staff and identifying favorite table to be sat. After a change in management, the feel of the Castle Rock location changed. While we were bummed, we continued to go, however, less frequently. Our understanding was that the Castle Rock manager moved to Parker so we thought we'd head back to see if the vibe we missed, was in Parker and hot damn! We found the experience we'd been missing. In our opinion, the Parker location manager is the heart of whatever location she is managing. We've watched her handle unruly and rude customers, deal with upset staff, give accolades to those around her, take orders, run food and she does it with a smile and an authentic heart. (Looking at you, Darla) In a world where folks will jump to platforms like this to complain that their salsa was too hot or that their green chile had too much chile, it's critical to also jump to these platforms to acknowledge that hard work behind the food. read more

The one in Castle Rock has great views but THIS one! This one in Parker, Colorado has the best ambiance of them all. 1:30 on a Friday afternoon and the place was packed. Thank goodness they have a huge dining room and lots of tables in the bar. There's also an enclosed patio but it wasn't open today. We were seated right away but it took a few extra minutes to get water and chips/salsa. The chips are great - light and crispy and the salsa has just enough of a kick. After going through the huge menu, I decided on the #10 combo. The chili replenished and cheese enchilada were very good but the ground beef burrito was pretty runny. I also opted for a side of sour cream and guacamole which artived in a tortilla shell and was a nice size for $2. We also had a steak and bean burrito that was great - with large chunks of tomato. The steak was a little chewy but the amazing flavor outweighed that. We both had to go boxes for half the huge meals and they will be enjoyed again tomorrow. Do you ever go to a restaurant that just blows you away, then you tell your friends how great it is, then you take them there and it's just meh? Well, that's my take on Los Dos Patrillos. When we arrived, we weren't even greeted. It seemed like we were inconveniencing the host. I had the ceviche. It was just one kind of whitefish and nothing else. It seemed cooked, not marinated. What kinda' ceviche is that? My friend had enchiladas. He said they were OK. I had a bit, yeah, just OK. Here's where it gets really bad. We had some sopapilla bites for dessert. When pouring honey for my 94-year-old dad the top popped off the honey bottle and honey was everywhere. Our server was nowhere to be found and rarely came by anyway. I had to flag a different server to get us some napkins. When our server came and I told her what happened she just said sorry, but made no efforts to make amends or even help wipe up the honey spilled all over the table. I asked for the manager, after about ten minutes he came to the table, offered no apology, threw our ticket in the honey and took the price of the sopapilla from our bill. He was pretty rude about it, never even looking at us or speaking to us. I used to call this the best Mexican restaurant in the Denver area. I wouldn't come back here even if the food was the best in the world. I can't stand when someone disrespects my 94 year old dad like that. You want more? The friend I took thought he might have left his cell phone there. He called to see if anyone had turned in a phone and the manager he spoke with quickly said, "no." My friend went back to the restaurant and asked in person if they had found a phone. They showed him their lost and found and his cell phone was there! Unbelievable! This is one of our favorites. It's hard to find authentic Mexican food in the suburbs and this one definitely hits the spot. Their enchiladas with onions, guacamole tostadas, and anything with green chili is delicious. It's always packed, but they do serve you swiftly. I've been coming to Los Dos for over 10 years. It used to be my go‑to spot in Parker for Mexican food and drinks, and I've brought a lot of friends and family here over the years. The last year has been a very different story. The food is still good and most of the staff is trying, but the way the place is run now makes it hard to enjoy being here. The AC is cranked so high that every time I'm in here my nose runs and I'm sitting there in a jacket. At this point, I pretty much just try to get through a drink and get out, because actually relaxing over a meal is almost impossible. You can look around and see other tables clearly cold and talking about it, and nothing changes. I'm not asking for the restaurant to be hot, just reasonably comfortable. When customers keep saying they're freezing and management still doesn't adjust, it feels like they just don't care about the people actually sitting in the seats. After a decade of being a regular, that's really disappointing. I want to keep supporting this place, but until the current management starts paying attention to the dining room and making it comfortable to sit and eat, I'll be coming here a lot less often. read more

I believe every restaurant should have an immediate mini appetizer served right away especially for those of us who get hangry fast (me) and people who have to deal with it (my husband). My husband and I viewed the menu in advance (because who doesn't haha) and we knew exactly what we were going to order. He ordered the chamorro (pork hock) entree, and he loved it! He's not the biggest fan of Mexican food, but he truly enjoyed this one. The flavor was there, the pork fell off the bones, and he finished his plate clean. I ordered the carnitas since they only serve this on the weekend so I figured it'd be a special dish and it was! I don't know how you turn something so basic into something so good but the combination of everything on the plate fit perfectly together - rice, beans, pico, guacamole, carnitas + their homemade tortillas (made fresh right by the front of the door to the left as you enter).
