I have mixed feelings about this place because the experience varies drastically between the courses. We started on the Blue Course, which I'd rate 1/5. Unfortunately, the customer service was among the worst I've ever experienced. The staff were rude and unhelpful. Our cart broke down on the third hole, and when I called for assistance, the attendant began yelling at me. When they finally brought a replacement cart, they parked it in a non-driving zone and then scolded us for driving near the green--exactly where they had left it. The pace of play was painfully slow, with groups stacked up in front and behind us. To top it off, staff yelled at us at the end for parking the cart "in the wrong area," even though we left it right next to the sign marked "Cart Return." The course itself was average at best--similar to a municipal course--but with premium pricing and very poor service. The Gold Course, on the other hand, was a completely different experience--truly a 180. The course was in great shape, and the staff were friendly and professional. They greeted us warmly, helped load our bags, and gave a helpful overview before we started. While play was still a bit slow, everyone we encountered was courteous and pleasant. Overall, I'd avoid the Blue Course but highly recommend the Gold Course for its excellent condition and outstanding customer service. read more

Wailea Emerald Course - A Perfect Way to Spend Our Last Day in Maui With a 10 PM flight and a 1 PM checkout at the Grand Wailea, we made a last-minute decision to soak up a few more hours of Maui sunshine with a round at Wailea Golf Club's Emerald Course--and it was worth every moment. For our foursome, including carts and club rentals, the total was $1,600, and the course provided a nice touch with a Callaway-branded ball bag, tees, and balls. Having played Wailea's Blue and Gold courses in the past, we found Emerald to be the most challenging--but also the most fun. What We Loved: Breathtaking Views - The course is stunning, with incredible ocean and island vistas. Challenging Yet Playable - With four tee boxes, golfers of different skill levels can enjoy the course, but pace of play is real, so not recommended for beginners. Played the Emerald Course at Wailea CC on 10/16/25. It was FANTASTIC. I was also there the day before to hit a few balls and the staff both days was friendly and outgoing. The course was in terrific shape with views abound. The greens fee for an 1100 tee time was $206 which was pretty reasonable considering that we played Royal Ka'anapali a few days later for $276 and it fell far, far short of Wailea Emerald in every way. Next time rather than driving an hour north to play Ka'anapali or Kapalua we'll just stick to Wailea and play their 3 courses. Mahalo read more

We played the Blue course and the Gold course. Both were fantastic. Both layouts were great. We would play them again for sure. Blue Course: The course was pretty damn immaculate for after a storm. Only 2 holes were somewhat degraded but still playable. Greens were somewhat fast. Cart was setup properly with pin placement on the GPS. Practice green is good and sufficient but looks like it could get crowded if it was busy. Open air bar/restaurant next to the pro shop is awesome. Loved that. Criticism: Blue: The bag drop guy at Blue seemed like he hated his job. There is no range. Just warm up nets next to where you get your cart. We do logo balls and wish they would have made specific logo balls for each course. Gold Course: The Gold course was definitely better than the blue. It is little further down the road from blue. Both Gold and Emerald are out of the same facility. Pro shop is huge. Loved that. Course is awesome. Layout and greens were great. Traps were great. This course was groomed. Only complaint maybe is quite a bit of small branches and seed looking pods on the grass around the trees. Practice green is huge and undulated. Range is great. Restaurant was great. We had some brews and appetizers after the round. Criticism: We had no idea of the routine. You pay, go outside the pro shop and then talk to another guy, he gives you a bag of balls and you take a little temporary cart up to the range. We knew nothing of this. So it is okay to ask if it is our first time and then instruct us. Same complaint about the logo balls. read more

Came for some excitement here greens and good times but left wit one sour taste in da mouth. Like putrid li hing from tutus sock drawer. First the course was good, and I know how they get em the guys must work super extra hard before the sun comes up. Becuz as soon as get light all these guys are sitting around in their carts talking story. Gold course maintenance guys talking by 4 green when we was first fairway. We come around to 4 th hole these guys still there 40 minutes later. They no even move when we approaching green. Whoever is running maintenance letting these guys cruise. Also when we pau these guys Hayden and Judd so grouchy telling us park your cart here don't park there. You know what i jus dropt over a grand on golf and merch no talk lidat to me. The course was in good shape with a good layout. The pro shop and outside staff were excellent. I played as a single with a rider and was paired with a 3 sum that played extremely slow golf. It took 1 hour to play the first 3 holes which is unacceptable. They were quite rude with poor etiquete too. The Marshall didn't check in with us until late in the back 9 where I expressed my frustration and was able to skip the hole I was on with them leaving me 3 holes left. The last 3 holes were great. After that the Marshall let me play an additional hole because I skipped a hole to be ahead of these obnoxious people. I wouldn't play here again or recommend playing here. For $340 I have high expectations and this course can't deliver. I wish I could get some of my money back! read more

Solid solid place to play golf on the island. All 3 courses are 'worth' playing - most will rank it's Gold course in the top 3 places you will want to play on the island with Kapalua's Plantation course usually being #1. It's debatable, but Waliea Gold is likely in most ppl's #2 on the list. The blue course has a few holes that are great, esp 7 on the front and you get ocean views here and there - and Emerald's 1 and 18 are incredible, the gold is a solid track all around with the majority of the middle holes giving you an incredible view of the ocean. The staff at all 3 are super friendly. Would highly recommend this place if you are staying in the Kihei or heck, anywhere on the island. read more

This was the absolute most beautiful golf course that I have ever played in my life. Every hole is a picture, worth a thousand words. The course is breathe taking. I didn't even care honestly how I played (I actually did pretty well, but I play from the red tees) because just being able to play on the course made me happy. It's like a golfers dream/paradise. You will definitely feel catered to with the service as well. Be careful of the #10 #17 double green. It's so beautiful. We played the emerald course and lots of hills , up and down. So the yardage is misleading, but your golf cart has a high tech yardage tracker for you to help anyways. Definitely must play!!!!!! I will start off saying that the grounds are amazing. I'm sure that the grounds team is suffering from all the weight of the accolades they surely had. With that being said, I did not have an enjoyable experience. I played as a single and I understood that I could play faster than a 4-some. However, I am not a good golfer as in a good day I shoot about 100 so I'm not too fast. I had a 3-some ahead of me that I caught within 4 holes. Their pace of play was atrocious. I got so bored that the first bathroom I came across, I used. Not because I needed to but because I needed something to do. I did not come across any players assistants or marshals to enforce pace of play. There were two groups behind me that were being held up too by the 11th hole. I gave up trying to play good golf and stopped scoring as I would wait 4-5 minutes between shots if I played like I should. I did not touch anything longer than a 4-hybrid after the 11th as by playing shorter clubs allowed me to hit quicker than usual. It got to a point where I was teeing off with a 9-iron. I tried to complain to the cart girl, and it looked like she called it in but no help from the course management. When I finally finished the course, I tried talking to the guys who do intake after the round. They commented that they hear that sort of complaint a lot and there has been no changes. I was asked by them to complain inside and leave my contact information to follow up. I did complain inside and leave my contact information after the lady behind the desk decided to argue with me instead of trying to understand the issue. So I am leaving this review, and will leave it as such until I hear back from course management about the abysmal standards they uphold. Grounds are worth the premium greens fees but there is a good chance you'll experience something similar. read more

The starter came up to me 5 minutes before my tee time and I asked him why he sent out a foursome directly in front of a single. He looked shocked I ever asked that question. The Emerald course is absolutely GORGEOUS! I am not a golfer. I just ride along/drive the cart to enjoy the views. My husband made reservations a few weeks before our vacation. Tee-time was on a Sunday morning. Smooth check in process, sparkling golf cart. Paired with 2 local guys that golf at Wailea several times a month. They were really helpful giving pointers about the tricky holes. We exchanged contact information and the guys got together to golf again a week later. Awesome pro shop. If my husband hadn't been with me, I would have been in there a lot longer and spent a lot more! When you golf here you get a 10% discount that day at the pro shop. Looking forward to going back! We are staying in Kaanapali so it was a drive to get out there. If you do decide to go please know the directions on google leave you a resort gate and the course is actually quite a bit further. You'll have to follow the signs from there. We played the Gold course last Saturday and had a really great time. The course was challenging as they told us it would be. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They provided water at the start and throughout the course which was great as it was warm out there. We had such a great experience we wanted to come back to play the other course. On Friday we played the Emerald course. This experience was totally different. Every staff member we interacted with was rude and snappy. When we checked in our friend asked about the Kama'aina discount because he owns a condo on the island and he had received the discount at The Dunes course a couple days before. When the staff at the dunes had asked if anyone was a resident they just called The Whaler to confirm his ownership. When he mentioned this to him the gentleman got snappy and said "I don't believe you, I used to be a manager at a course. I'm not going to argue this" essentially calling him a liar. 4 of us played this course twice at nearly $200 per person each time for over $1500 total. After the second round we all agreed we would never play any of their courses again. It's such a beautiful course so it's really a shame the staff was so ugly yesterday. For those of you spending time in the Wailea area and want to golf- great courses. Not a food destination but good golf service and friendly staff. Best mid range course is Emerald but also the busiest. Gold has 100 bunkers and is harder. Greens were a bit messed up this year but most were ok. Very deceptive though especially on Gold. Easy to think something is uphill and then you putt it off the green toward the ocean. Blue course is a miss for us- not good tees for women's, and it runs long. Only advantage is greens are easier than the other two. So the variety and selection is good across the three, and pricing is in line with other options. read more

We played the Gold Course at Wailea Golf Club in Maui and it was great. This is pretty much golf in paradise. The Gold Course is part of the bigger Wailea Resort, situated on the southwest coast of Maui, which consists of three 18-hole courses: Gold, Emerald, and Blue. The Blue Course is Wailea's oldest track. It opened in 1972. The Gold and Emerald Courses opened concurrently in 1994 and are known as the better of the three courses. Gold is widely considered to be the best and toughest. If you play Gold, you might consider playing one set of tees up from where you normally play. For many years, the Gold Course hosted the PGA Tour Champions annual Skins Game. I shot a 102 from the white tees (coincidentally, I shot 102 from the white tees at Kapalua's Plantation Course the next day). At Wailea Gold from the whites, the course measures 6,152 yards with a 70.0/130 rating/slope -- definitely above average difficulty, but not extreme. There are four sets of tees to choose from. From the tips (gold), the course eclipses 7,000 yards (7,078) with a 74.5/138 rating/slope. Par 72. From tee to green, the course conditioning was excellent. Kapalua was in better shape overall with greener, lusher grass, but that's being very picky. Wailea and Kapalua are both five-star golf experiences. While I prefer the layout and views at Kapalua, they are still great at Wailea. From many places on the course and even at the driving range, there are scenic ocean views as well as terrific views of the island of Kaho'olawe. The tee at No. 8, a par-3, has a nice view of Molokini Crater, which is a popular spot for snorkeling. One cool feature of the course is the prehistoric lava rock found throughout. There are short walls of lava rock known as papohaku, believed to have been built hundreds of years ago. They've been preserved on the Gold Course at Wailea. On-course restrooms are located at 7 tee and 15 tee. At the time of writing this review, it costs $250 for a morning tee time on the Gold and Emerald Courses and $200 on the Blue Course. Rates are cheaper for resort guests, after 12 and 3pm, or if you purchase a 3-day golf pass or package. Like the course, the clubhouse and surrounding ponds, fountains, mini waterfalls, and landscaping are beautiful. We played in early August and the weather was warm and sunny; perfect in my opinion. My dad and I played on a Sunday, riding, and weren't paired up with anyone. If you're planning to play golf in Hawaii, Wailea Gold should definitely be on your list. If we had more time, I would've liked to play Emerald and Blue. read more

This is obviously going to be a very expensive round of golf but for a once in a lifetime opportunity I think it's worth it. I rented clubs for around $75 and it came with really nice clubs and even came with a Scotty Cameron putter. This course is located next to Manoli's pizza and overlooks the Wailea resorts. If you've ever driven by the Shops at Wailea and wondered what golf course is across the street, it's the Blue Course. This course is less challenging (most holes are Par 4) and has some beautiful views. Renting clubs is not too pricey (I think around $35) and they have a great Kama'aina rate for locals (must show local ID). I played 9 holes and had no trouble getting in same day in the early morning. I will say that it is a highly trafficked course, and we had a large group both ahead of us and behind us, which slowed down our playing speed and decreased our enjoyment slightly. Booking at non-peak times may help with that! They have a cute (but small) shop next to Manoli's where you check in and pay. read more

The Wailea Golf Club has three beautiful 18-hole golf courses situated in close proximity to Wailea's hotels and resorts on the Pacific Ocean. We played both the Gold and Emerald Courses and enjoyed the challenging holes and beautifully maintained fairways and greens throughout the courses. Compared to the Kapalua Courses on the North Shore, the Wailea Courses have far less windy conditions and fewer blind holes. I appreciated the fact that several wide fairways on both Gold and Emerald funnel your drives toward the center of the fairways. Of the two courses, we preferred the nice mix of different types of holes on the Emerald Course. Conditions on both courses were immaculate and both courses aesthetically integrated the native volcanic lava rocks into several holes. If you have time for just one round at Wailea, I'd highly recommend the Emerald Course. It is a challenging pleasure to play. read more

My only feedback is I think they could improve the bathrooms out on the course (the bathroom on the Wailea Blue course is way nicer than their's) and also I think for the price you pay to play, they should build some comfort stations (with coffee, sunblock, and other amenities, also please put sunblock in the locker rooms!) read more

The reason why just one star is due to the absolute rudeness of the staff who work in the cart area and at check in. I was spoken with such disrespect and dismissive attitude that despite how nice the course is. Which it is. Until management at this course does some realignment and attitude adjustments with the staff there I'm not sure it's worth going there to play. It's supposed to be an enjoyable relaxing day and it wasn't due to the staff. I did nothing to deserve this, I didn't speak to anyone rudely and it was totally off the wall behavior Maui asked visitors to return and contribute back to the local economy, which we did. We then pay extremely high rates to golf, and then to be spoken to with such a shit attitude. It's not worth it to come to Maui. And I had some other folks I met golfing share similar experiences with me I've been to the Wailea courses at least a dozen times and have always left feeling great and valued, which left me promoting the course and experience to all my friends who visit Maui. Next time my friends ask me, I will let them know how I was spoken to and treated. It's not acceptable behavior, especially when folks are choosing to come to Maui and help the economy rebound. I'm from Oregon of which has a lot of Hawaiians who have moved there for work and school and we treat them with great respect and do everything we can to make them feel welcomed to our communities. First time golfing off island and it was such a great experience. We played on the emerald course which was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I decided to rent their women's clubs which were Taylor Made M2's which are now my favorite. The course: The greens were in really great shape. The course isn't too difficult for a beginner but there are a lot of sand traps! I ended up in about 3-4 of them. The views were so pretty, with views of the water throughout the course. The staff: Everyone was super friendly and helpful. At the end of the round, they give a nice cold towel. Beautiful golf course! The backdrop to every shot is incredible. I played here a couple times while in Maui and both times it was incredible. The course is well manicured and had the right amount of difficulty as well. The greens had some good slope to them. It can get pretty hot on the course but sometimes with the breeze coming off the ocean it makes it easier. Make sure to bring your sunscreen! It is also cool to see all the animals on the course. Most interesting one is the mongoose. The drink lady said to not leave any snacks unattended or the mongoose will come and take it. Very cool.
