Our family had the best experience with our photographer Angelica and the Karma Hill team. We recently traveled to Maui and coordinated a shoot for our extended family. I was very worried about getting the day/time right because of my two small children and the Karma Hill team was so patient, responsive, and helpful throughout the whole process. As for our photographer Angelica, I seriously can't say enough good things about her! She was so amazing to our entire group and really went above and beyond with our kiddos. My toddler had a meltdown during our morning shoot and Angelica did everything she could to give her space and reel her back in with some action shots. We're still waiting for our final set of of photos but the preview gallery was top quality and they it turned around in a week. We can't wait to see the rest of our family photos. read more

We had the best family photo session with Michelle on Maui! She was WONDERFUL. For the first few days of our family vacay, we weren't quite clicking, but the photo session really brought us all together. From that evening on there was a turning point in the vibes of the trip. My mom even looked at me at the end of the photo session and said that she didn't care how the photos turned out, because she had the best time But luckily the photos are beautiful!!! We booked Karma Hill for a 1 hour sunset family portrait session on the Big Island for 6 (5 adults, 1 kid, including a pregnant mama). It did hurt my wallet just researching different photographers -- less demand on the Big Island means a lot more $$$ compared to other islands. But we were determined to make the investment. KH seems to be more on the expensive side compared to other individual photographers, so we weren't considering it initially. However, since we have a couple families included in the shoot (ours and my husbands immediate family), we felt that KH's capturing and editing style would be the one everyone appreciated and would be worth the price difference. We were very happy with how the photos turned out! More on that in a bit, but before I get too far I did want to call out a disclaimer - the only thing I had reservations on was the number of digital photos included in the session for 6 people for one hour (50 digital pics at the time of writing). This was something I didn't consider at the time of booking, but relative to other photographers this number seems to be pretty low. Especially if you have more than one family included, or another "purpose" (like shooting for maternity) 50 may be too little for your needs. They do offer the full digital set as an additional purchase, or individual photos. Both of these costs are a significant price difference (easily ~$100-200 depending on how many), so if having the full set or more than 50 is important to you, you may want to factor that cost into your budget when choosing a photographer. I'm still happy altogether, but I wish I had thought about this before making my commitment (totally on me). On the overall quality -- we're very happy. KH was always, always quick to respond and courteous. We were booked with Aumrae and I really appreciated the upbeat but easygoing energy he brought, especially since we had some mishaps before the shoot (hotel had an energy blackout before!). We were able to get a really good variety of backgrounds and all the combinations of people captured that we wanted. It was also a super windy day, but thanks to Aumrae the photos turned out great! You'd think there was just a nice breeze going through at the time. I also really liked how we got a variety of textures and heights (some sitting on the sand, some standing on the lava rocks by the beach, some walking in the water, etc). The photos themselves are gorgeous. My wallet hurts haha but I know that capturing moments like this, especially with extended family, will only get more valuable to us as time goes on. We just had a family photo session today so I haven't even seen our pictures. However, our photographer Tenessa was so much fun! We have been on ATV's and Zip Lining, but this family activity was by far the most fun! We all laughed so much and so hard and Tenessa was so amazing, even making sure my teens got totally involved. My boyfriend and I took a trip to Maui to celebrate my birthday. My boyfriend so kindly obliged to taking couples pictures together. I did extensive research on pricing and quality of images on many photographers websites. I am definitely a person who prefers all information possible to be provided on the website, and Karma Hill's site does just that. You can read about the many different sessions they have, add ons you might consider, images of families and couples in many different locations all over the islands of Hawaii and more. (My dream!) The inquiry form was easy to fill out and a response was timely as well. I'm extremely indecisive and they provided many links to help me narrow down the preferred location of our session. Day of we met with Tanessa at Polo Beach. She was everything in a photographer we could've asked for! On time, easy to find, very personable. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, discussed posing vs candid options to help narrow down what we wanted from the session, helped us pose in new ways we haven't before and fixed my hair so it didn't look to crazy (humidity was REAL). When the session ended she helped us find an amazing spot for breakfast close by. I love that they do a sneak peek a week after your session so you can get some of the images sooner. We know good photographers are usually booked out months in advance. We didn't decide to commit to professional photos until about 1-2 months out due to the uncertainty of traveling during a pandemic and we were going as an extended family of 11. After striking out with other photographers, we somehow landed on Karma Hill's instagram page and their photos were BEAUTIFUL - light and airy and colorful! After perusing their website, I was a bit skeptical of a photography company. Like how will I know which photographer was "good"? But looking through all their previous work, we felt confident that ALL their photographers will deliver gorgeous photos. The booking process was easy, and given they have multiple talented photographers, we were able to get a session even though we only booked 1-2 months ahead. Communication with the company was easy and prompt. The session itself was FUN! Clarissa was so patient with the children in our group (both the rambunctious and shy ones!) and our parents who only spoke Chinese. She gave precise instructions on how to pose. We had photos of every combination we could think of. And as our session was ending, the sunset was just blazing with colors that she kept encouraging us to take more photos! We have not received all of our images yet (session was just last week) but we had such a wonderful experience with Tenessa, I wanted to leave a review right away. We have however received our "sneak peak" photos and they are gorgeous! I cannot compliment Tenessa's professionalism enough!! She was so patient and kind throughout the entire photo-taking process, even though my 1.5 yr old toddler was having a meltdown and refusing photos, which was stressing me out! Her calmness was very reassuring. She gave wonderful directions to my family and I on where to stand, how to pose, etc. She worked well with my parents, my adult siblings, my husband and I, and did a great job trying to capture the attention of my son with goofy faces and movements for the photos. There were eight of us total being photographed and we came prepared with a list of group shots and sub-group shots we wanted to have taken (aka whole family, just grandparents, us with our son, siblings, etc.) Tenessa made sure we got each of the shots we wanted, and many more! We had our photoshoot with Keri yesterday and I have to say, that this has been hands down, THE BEST experience we've had with a photographer by far as we normally take professional photos each year. Keri was super kind, patient, took the time to connect with our family, and took her time to position us for the best shots with all the wind action going on. She also made sure my hair was in place and helped me hide tan lines and sunburn. She didn't rush us and made sure we got all the shots we wanted. My older son normally doesn't enjoy photoshoots, but expressed to my husband and I afterwards that he actually had a good time and that he thought Keri was really cool and funny. My younger son had so much fun and totally made a connection with Keri. My husband and I thought it was really cool that Keri photographed the kids while they were in their own element and just letting them be themselves. Thank you so much KHP team! We recently worked with Karma Hill Photography during our trip to Oahu and had such a great experience! We booked a mini session (30 mins), which turned out to be perfect for our family of four and especially the attention spans of our kiddos (4 and 2). Photographer Mike was also great with the kids - our youngest was more interested looking down at the sand than up at the camera, so he rolled with it and got some great candids while she warmed up :). Overall, scheduling online was simple, I loved the flexible packages and pricing options and communication leading up to and after our shoot was great. The Karma Hill team also recommended a location that was perfect for us -- Paradise Cove beach, which was close to our hotel and provided the perfect backdrop to bring my vision to life. We wanted to get our daughter's Senior photos done in Maui and after reading many positive reviews, we opted to book with Karma Hill. Our wedding ceremony was planned by Simple Maui Wedding and Samantha from Karma Hill Photography was our photographer! She is amazing! After the ceremony, we breezed through all the group photos and then walked over to a gorgeous location on the rocks right by the ocean. We felt a bit awkward at first since we've never done a photoshoot before, but Samantha knew exactly what to do and guided us through it all. We couldn't have asked for a better team to work with than the Karma Hill Photography team. Brooke was so responsive in her emails, and we were lucky enough to work with Angelica the day of our wedding! She was so chill and fun she made the whole thing enjoyable for us. I (the bride) usually struggle with having my picture taken and don't think I'm photogenic at all, so I was nervous about how I would look in the photos. But I cannot believe how good the pictures turned out. The ceremony pictures look awesome and Angelica managed to capture the magic that was our wedding on the beach at sunset! I am a professional photographer who's had her family portraits done by the same amazing photographer in San Francisco for the last 9 years. This year, we were going to be in Maui for Thanksgiving, and the location was just too good to pass up. She immediately put us at east with her warmth and humor, and really created a good connection with our daughter which focused her. She had us take advantage of the trees and flowers for some shots before we hit the beach, and it was so beautiful. The beach was absolutely stunning, and Sasha did such a great job of making us laugh and be our authentic selves through the hour we spent with her. I LOVE our photos and will have an incredibly hard time figuring out which ones to frame. As a photographer I'm sure I'm not the easiest subject. I have a very specific idea of what I want and am SO stiff in front of the camera. Sasha managed to not only take advantage of the gorgeous location, but to bring out the best in all three of us. I had booked a proposal shoot with KH in Kauai for new years eve. KH's photographer (Kate) did a super awesome job capturing the moment i popped the question, and helping me with logistics (when to arrive, where to park, where on the beach to propose etc.). I wanted to surprise my now-fiancee with a bouquet of flowers, and Kate graciously had them waiting for me at the beach. During the shoot, I really liked that Kate was very explicit with directions (where to stand, what to do, where to look) which helped ease the pressure of us when posing.
