One of my favorite luaus, and I've been to 6 over the years. (There are a couple I like more but on Oahu, not Maui) The venue is very easy to access, especially if you're already staying in the Ka'anipalli area of Maui. It's not cheap at about $200 pp for the higher level, but I recommend it because the seats are much better. Check in at the Westin, enter the venue through the arcade near the waterfall, and get laid upon entry to the show area with a drink in each hand! The main meal food is better than average but it's all the basic items you expect. Salads, chicken, fish, veggies, beef, kaluha pork, poi, etc. They had three or four desserts. My Ovid and vids show most of the stuff. Their drinks are storing and include in the package. At least our package. And they're decently potent. Not much activity before the meal and show starts. Mainly vendors selling their wares, and a photographer. The photos were 20 bucks for one hard copy, or 60 bucks for the set which includes the digital ones that they email you later. They do a very nice job and my opinion is get it for the memory. The host is funny and engaging. The dancers were talented and a couple were quite striking. I cracked up cuz one kinda looked like The Rock to me. Haha. They do all the dances as they teach you the history of the South Pacific and Hawaii. Kids (and a few adults) go on stage to learn a dance. And the fire dancing portion is definitely the best I've seen. It's Hawai'i. Have fun and enjoy! We were a bit torn on whether or not this would be a good show given all the yelp reviews that were all over the map. There are plenty of luaus available and depending on what you are looking for, this one may or may not fit the bill. For example this show is not strictly Hawaiian culture, but Polynesian and talks about the history of those who originally came to Hawaii. More traditional luaus that focus only on Hawaii, don't include the fire dancers. For me, that was the part of the show I wanted. As for our experience. Checkin started sometime before the 5:30 time on the ticket, but the line moved quickly and table assignments were handed out with instructions for how to get to the venue. There we found ourselves in another line but quickly realized this is where the line splits between Ohana seating and premium seating. Our premium seating tickets got us through the line much quicker. At the bar, Mai Tais and non-alcoholic POG juice were at the ready for the crowds to grab and go to their seats, usher by friendly staff. Ohana style snacks were brought to our table - boiled peanuts and fresh edamame and we enjoyed the conversation with the rest of our table along with the musicians providing ambiance with their musical stylings. Fun fact- boiled peanuts are the Hawaiian Super Bowl snack of choice according to one of our hosts. As the show started, several dances and history was shared before the dinner portion and once dinner was to begin, tables were selected to join the line one by one. In addition to the adult buffet, there was a separate kids buffet with more kid-friendly fare like Mac n cheese and chicken nuggets. On the adult side, everything you'd expect from the buffet. My favorite was the poke tuna and the catch of the day but it was all decent. Except for poi. That's not my bag, but you gotta try everything right? Following dinner was the rest of the show. And it did not disappoint. Overall notes: (1) when researching it seemed that either the show OR the food would be spectacular. We wanted a spectacular show with decent food and that's what we got. (2) more traditional Hawaiian shows do not include fire dancers. This one, being more Polynesian did and that was one of the highlights for me. (3) the sound system was not great at all. Music was lively but the spoken parts of the show were hard to understand. (4) open bar and yes, the premade drinks are watered down because many are made at one time and sit. If instead you order a different drink from the bar, that isn't the case.

So this is a Polynesian Luau, offered at the Westin but open to anyone. There are several different kinds of luaus. You can attend in the Hawaiian islands, from events like this that are all Polynesian, to those that are focused solely on Hawaiian culture. Depending on what you're looking for, entertainment, food, or culture will influence your choice. For us, as a first luau, all Polynesian was absolutely fine, and this one was rated as having the best fire dancer show of any of the offerings. Now let's be clear, fire dancing, isn't strictly Hawaiian, but it's the tourist experience that a lot of people are looking for, including us this time. You'll notice that there aren't a lot of food pics, I was too busy eating and enjoying the food to take pictures of it. I know, bad yelper... The food here is buffet style and you're welcome to go back as often as you'd like. There are a wide range of options, both food and bar and when you're in the premium seats, you're also served some Hawaiian snacks while everyone else is getting seated. This is a fun event that all age ranges will enjoy, and the show is well produced. Fantastic dancing, great action, and enjoyable music and comedy. If you're staying at the Weston, it's also a very easy luau to access. No driving, no shuttles. If you're new to the islands, it's something to do once.

    Exciting show

We were so impressed with the welcoming staff at the Wailele Luau. I accidentally hit the wrong date for our experience (by two weeks), but the staff was able to rearrange some seating and accommodate my party of 7. We were so grateful. The food was really good! Very fresh and clean with many options. The show was fabulous! And the little shopping area had lots of fun things to buy, we walked away with a personalized Christmas ornament to remover this trip each year. Thank you everyone!!!!

If we could convince the software engineers at Yelp to add a 6th star we would for this. Out of this world experience from setting to staff to food to show. The food was great and the spread was diverse for both dinner and dessert. The drinks were good, a bit stronger but when you're at a Luau who cares. The setting is well decorated and clean, there's also a market on the side and photos taken beforehand available for purchase later. No spoilers for the show but let us just say WOW. An absolute must experience for those in the area staying at hotels and we would say it's even worth a drive across the island just to experience. Outstanding.

We had a fantastic time and absolutely LOVED this luau! We did not pay for "premium" seating and I'm so glad we didn't. We had a fantastic view of the show and although the "premium" line was seated first, it didn't take us long to be seated, at all, as it was well-organized and the line moved swiftly. The food was absolutely delicious! We were impressed at the options for drinks beyond just the Mai Tai, as they also include many premium liquors, at no additional fee. The venue was beautiful, the service excellent and the show, dazzling. I can't recommend this luau enough!

One of the things my group wanted to do in HI was to check out a luau. I was worried that it would be cheesy but honestly, it was really interesting. There's a big buffet (pretty tasty) and unlimited (very tasty) drinks. The staff is great and the venue is beautiful. The performance was worth the $$ for sure. I learned about Hawaiian culture and really enjoyed my visit here. Two thumbs up.

My rating is a 3.8. My family really wanted to experience a Luau for our first time in Hawaii. Ill be honest I didn't do much research but we were staying at the Westin Maui so we ended up just booking their onsite Luau mainly because all Luau pricing seemed to be similar and this was convenient for us. I was a bit bummed on the price, especially for the kids and probably would not have booked it had it not been for the 20% promotion they were running. Even with that price was still a bit ridiculous but its Hawaii, aint nothing "cheap" Hours before the event we heard from two couples how absolutely terrible the experience and food was for this event. It made me really mad so I tried to call and get a refund even though I was within the 48 hour no refund window. I spoke with Frank the manager and he did hold strong to their cancellation policy but allowed me a little grace with a reasonable offer. "Come to the Luau and if you have a problem with the experience at that time, we can talk." I am a passionate but fair man. So I gave a gentleman's agreement and we attended the event. As stated we were staying at the hotel so it was a whole 5 min walk. Very easy to find. We arrived maybe 5 minutes before they started letting everyone in and there were A LOT of people. However, the line moved very quickly. As we entered everyone was greeted with a lei and a drink. To my surprise Frank who I spoke with on the phone, I believe was waiting for me, introduced himself and walked us to our seats reiterating that if we needed anything or had a complaint to notify him and he handed me his card with his cell. I will be honest, the rest of the night went well. The performances were great, the service and staff were on it and friendly, they had all you could eat and drink (yes both alcohol and non). Overall we did enjoy ourselves. And because I am fair, I did not feel the need to make any complaints to Frank. Here is the brutally honest part. Are there maybe better Luau's? Maybe, wouldn't know. While the food was decent, no it was not gourmet but again this isn't the Ritz. If you are picky or snooty or a food snob, ya you are probably gonna have issues. But I think for most reasonable people it's a fun and tasty night. I do however believe the pricing IS a bit much for what it is but I do understand they have to pay a lot of hard working staff. I absolutely think the kids prices should be reduced or tiered by age. Anyhow, If you have the money and arent a primary dona and never experienced a Luau, take the leap, otherwise. Dont bother. I also would like to thank Frank for the customer service and effort he provided to us amongst the other unexpected gratuities which were purposefully not considered during this review. Thank you.

My friend and I purchased 4 tickets for Ohana seating at the Wailele Luau from the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort Villa upon our arrival and check-in. We paid $875 for 4 tickets, that's $218.75 per person including tax. We found out later that other places were selling tickets around $80 per person... For the price, we had really high expectations of a spectacular show and food/drinks. The show was a disappointment. There was only one guy worth watching. All but one male performer was either short or flabby and were not very performers. Two of the female performers were good, while the others were forgettable. The entertainment did not meet our expectations and was not worth the money. The fire dance was the highlight of the evening, and even that was less than impressive. The buffet was pretty good, but nothing special about it. The roast pig was tender but was very salty. The alcoholic beverages were really lightweight. We ordered some cocktails that came in cheap plastic cups and barely had any hint of alcohol. For the premium price that we paid, I would have expected some well-decorated drinks with a decent ratio of alcohol at the very least. We had a nice time, but I would not recommend this particular luau. It was way overpriced for the sub-par quality.

This was one of my favorite luaus I have ever been to mostly because it was perfect for kids. The buffet was delicious and they had a separate kids buffet area - it was adorable. I have never seen a luau do this before. The Westin website was offering 30% off so we upgraded to premium seating and I'm so happy we did. The entire luau is on the small side so I don't really think there is a bad seat. Other luaus offer more cultural experiences (basket weaving, etc) I didn't see any of that but didn't feel like we were missing out at all. There was a few tables set up souvenirs you could purchase. The premium seats paid for closer seats, there is no vip line or early access. Same line as everyone else, same food, same drinks. The show was our favorite part! They did such a fantastic job! The fire show at the end the guys do is so cool!! I don't want to post the video to ruin it for everyone. Just go see it. My daughter has been talking about it all week, even wrote that it was her favorite memory and drew a picture of a palm tree with one of the fire dancers

Ask the Community - Wailele Luau

    Are drinks included?

Yes, they have several pre-made drinks like MaiTai's that they hand you when you walk in the door. They also have an open bar near the buffet line. Their drinks, however, are very low in alcohol - more fruit syrup than anything.

I just heard the luau location is in a temp spot on the property till Dec. 2019? Nothing on the website about it but is in two reviews. April and May 2019. Totally changes…

No view its in a courtyard. Small maybe a 125 or a bit more people.

I had yet to try a Loco Moco since we arrived in Maui, I have had this dish on the other islands and it's been good. Tonight I tried Aloha Mixed Plate Loco Moco, they offer it with a choice of steamed rice or fried rice so I wanted to try the fried rice. What a difference in flavor combos. The fried rice gave the dish a much richer taste than the steamed rice. The hamburger patty was incredible, I could taste the char noting it was not fried on a flat top. Excellent dish. My wife did the sirloin steak special prepared with mushrooms and onions and cooked to perfection. Juicy and flavorful and plenty of it. Cocktails were outstanding, we tried something different from our first visit. Loved the evening feel of the room, the night vibe with the exterior torches and landscape really brought the tropical feel. Then came an amazing sunset which you could experience from any table in the house. Couldn't leave without trying the Aloha Pie, so decadent and light. Glad we came a 2nd time, have to say we have not experienced the Hawaiian flavors like we have tasted at Aloha. Do try it for lunch or dinner but make the reservation because it would be sad to get there and not get to try it. Bravissimo Aloha! Ciao

While I adore and often cook a lot of Asian food I'm not such a fan of Filipino food yet around it more than any other food with family. Bad choice. After driving there from Lahaina for lunch, this dish was unavailable?? Even yelpers rave about it! So we ordered the pork belly and wanted chow fun but they only have the chicken variety? So there is a reason why the Asian restaurants we usually dine at make beef chow fun. The chicken version was bland and wanting for something else to complete it! But surely edible and nicely cooked noodles. The pork belly was ok but not slap your momma I'll go back for that good. The Mac salad was awful compared to much more affordable plate lunch places. It was flavorless, overcooked pasta, and a gritty texture! Weirdly the chairs there at the tables are low and you feel like you are at the children's table at Thanksgiving. So much so that us and two other groups including the ones that moved after ordering to our vacated table moved from the regular tables to the ones at the window with a bench on one side. We had fun joking with our replacements about that! So for the most part here it appears to be tourist clientele and not many Filipinos but my wife. I think that these exceptionally high prices for basic dishes and burgers (she asked why would people go to a Filipino restaurant and order a burger) are why not many locals eat here. And frankly most aunties make better Filipino food better at home. Glad we tried but not again. Checked off of our try try list. They didn't even have a signature dish available that we went particularly to get.

The setting alone is stunning--overlooking the Kapalua golf course with gorgeous ocean views--but the food absolutely lived up to the scenery. We started with a fresh house salad, which was simple but perfectly dressed and a great way to kick things off. For entrées: * My husband ordered the short rib, which was incredibly tender and rich with flavor. The sauce paired perfectly with the creamy mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. * My oldest son had the prime rib, and it was cooked beautifully with a great sear and topped with asparagus and a flavorful butter. * I chose the shrimp scampi, which was buttery, garlicky, and packed with shrimp. The pasta was coated in the most delicious creamy sauce and even came with toasted bread to soak up every bit of it. * My younger two ordered from the kids menu--the kids short rib and butter-and-cheese fettuccini--and both plates were generous and surprisingly elevated for kids' meals. Everything we ordered came out looking beautiful and tasting just as good. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience felt relaxed but still upscale. If you're visiting Maui and want a spot that delivers great food, amazing views, and works well for families, The Plantation House is absolutely worth the reservation.

Not dry at all, the sauce that comes with it didn't really pair with the coconut shrimp only because my wife is not a big Curry fan. Hannah effortlessly switched sauce to a horseradish Yuzu sauce that paired nicely and definitely a better flavor combo. Kimos Hula Pie was "Ono" simply delizioso and a huge piece enough for two and we still couldn't finish it. Great evening, stupendous dining experience and I would return to explore the menu a little more. When on the Kaanapali coast do stop in and try breakfast, lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. Well done Leilani's! Tutti delizioso e Mangiamo
