We had just had a 13 hour travel day with a 5 hour time change so going out to dinner didn't sound appealing. We decided to have a bit of an early dinner and eat here since we were staying here. It's the outdoor bar at the pool so it gets busy but has a nice view. If you can get a spot in the shade that's would be ideal. We sat down and were given menus then our waitress disappeared for about 15 minutes. Then came back and asked for drink orders. Then disappeared for 10 minutes, came back with water but said she was still waiting on the alcoholic beverages. 10 minutes later they arrived and she came to take our food orders. Another 15-20 minutes until we got our food. Our kids were barely keeping it together and we so tired. Finally the food came. Drinks were watered down and no good. We stopped by the IMU Pool Bar at the Westin Nanea in Maui while the rain started rolling in, and it seemed like a lot of other guests had the same idea. It wasn't very busy when we first arrived, but a steady stream of people came in shortly after. Unfortunately, the service was pretty lackluster. It took quite a while for someone to come by our table, and when they finally did start working the area, they ended up helping several tables that arrived after us before getting back to ours. A simple first-in, first-out approach to serving guests would have made the experience a lot smoother. The best part of the visit was definitely the food. Once it finally showed up, it was actually pretty good and helped redeem the experience a bit. Overall, not a terrible stop, but the service flow could definitely use some improvement. When guests are seated and waiting, they should be acknowledged and served in the order they arrived, especially when it's a slow night and obvious who showed up first. Came to the bar to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers play in the World Series. This maybe the best sports bar in the area. We came to scout the place earlier asking questions and what not and when we returned the bartender accommodated us with a good seat. Unfortunately they could turn up the sound because they claim they're not a sport bar. We were there for the duration of the game. Service was awesome and we ordered Poke and fish tacos. Both were delicious and perfectly made. Prices of course were expensive. My coors light were priced at $10 a beer and my gf had margaritas for $15 each. It's Maui what do you expect. We ate here twice during our stay here at Westin Nanea. The primary reason was to spend down our resort credit. Because they offer HH 3-6 it was difficult to secure a table for three at dinner as it's first come first serve. We settled on lunch one time and dinner another time. It's the same menu with the exception of dinner where they add five additional items. The bar and grill is at the pool so lots of foot traffic. Lunch time - my daughter and I both had the wagyu beef cheeseburger on brioche bun with fries. Hubby had a poke bowl. Cocktails - hubby had a martini, daughter a lava flow, and I had a strawberry fizz. The bar has a daily cocktail special but we passed on it. The burger was huge. 1/2 lb ground beef. Cooked to order. The fries were hot and crispy. Hubby's poke bowl looked so so. Dinner time - we couldn't get a table so we split up in the bar and sat at high bar tables. Hubby sat by himself. He had a rib eye steak. Both my daughter & I had the Asian shrimp noodle dish. Hubby's rib eye came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The Asian shrimp noodles dish came with six shrimp. The description said black tiger shrimp but the shrimp looked like frozen shrimp I get at my local supermarket back home. The noodles were temperature hot but very salty and oily. The only one bad experience was a special drink of the day called Shark Bite (light rum, coconut rum, blue curaçao, sweet and sour, grenadine). Inu bar is the pool bar at the Nanea Westin Ocean Villas. The location is prime as it is perfect viewing of both the pool and the ocean, or there is an area behind the bar that is a little quieter. There are usually multiple bartenders and servers on staff that are friendly and knowledgeable. They know their menu and can give pointers on what's on tap as well as great bites. The food is always good and I think the portions are perfect! They often have live music during happy hour which is usually 3-6p. read more

The portion for this dish seemed a bit small. That was really the only negative. The Asian Shrimp Pasta was also delicious. It had a great sauce. This dish also had a kick but it wasn't over the top. The shrimp were large and meaty. I would definitely order either of these again, but the Poke Bowl was the winner! Also ordered a mango cheesecake (forgot to take a picture). I didn't love it. Wife and I loved it! We came here twice and tried 2 different meals - I would say the fish tacos weren't that great. Didn't have too much flavor and didn't have really have a good sauce in it. Bummer to have to downgrade Inu Pool Bar. The thing that got us was that they took away Happy Hour Mai Tais *during* our stay, so one afternoon they were $9 and the next afternoon they were $15. I get that there's never a good time to make that change and a business is not going to go out of their way to tell customers that something costs more today than it did yesterday, but I wish they had been better about signaling the change. They do have a daily cocktail special and I would have simply ordered that instead. I also thought the quality of the drinks was not as high as our prior visits, so I would have brought Inu down a star anyway. If you're staying here, Inu is basically the only option if you want to have a drink by the pool and enjoy the view. I've stayed at plenty of Westin villas and in general the resorts are top notch, this would generally include the facilities, the gym, the restaurants, and most importantly the service. This bar restaurant cannot be further from that experience. And seeing all the other one star bad customer service reviews, I'm glad I wasn't a one off because it certainly felt like the servers' (yes, plural) privilege trumped my minority status. Can here the first day for early dinner, family of four with a baby, we camp out at a two person table with the goal of waiting for one of the other tables. Rude server comes over, and without so much as an exchange of pleasantries, she says "we can't add anymore seats to this table." We eventually get a larger table, the food and drinks were fine, but expect Westin villa prices. Didn't wanna leave a tip, but my better half had a good point - we will likely be back during the remainder of our stay. Next day, went swimming, saw plenty of folks order drinks from the pool or lounge chairs. I waive down a server who has been serving the area where we were swimming. I ask if we can place an order, he says "depends what it is." I ask for two drinks, he says he will need to get the server for our area. 20 minutes later, no drinks, and no one else came by for orders. We left. Unfortunately we will probably be back as we are just beginning our weeklong stay, just because this is one of two restaurants on site and who's got time to drive around for food when you're lugging around a baby. In summary, expensive prices, good drinks, food is okay, service is HORRIBLE. Do yourself a favor and stock up at Costco, your wallet will thank you, and you won't have to put up with such brash and rude service. And to think, they try to sell people timeshares after the restaurant leaves such a sour aftertaste...good luck. read more

The word "inu" in Hawaiian means to drink, an appropriate name for this bar that serves as the main watering hole at the pool of the brand new Westin Nanea timeshare/hotel. We're normally not pool people but we decided to check it out anyway. ATMOSPHERE: The bar area is housed in an open-air pavilion complete with a few lounge-style chairs and TV's. The rest is pool deck seating. MENU: Pricey! Drinks from $6 beer to $14 glasses of wine to a $25 mai tai, apps from $9 - $20, sandwiches and burgers from $16 - $19. While I refrained from having any libations mainly due to the exorbitant prices, my friends had some beer. SERVICE: Here's where the main problem lies with this place. I had a front row view of the bar as we sat across the pool from it. A good 30 minutes went by and no one came to greet us. The two female cocktail servers working spent all of their time under the shade of the bar's pavilion and serviced just the lounge chairs there. Desperate, one of my friends had to walk to the bar to get menus. You'd think after seeing a guest walk to the bar and ask for a menu they'd pay attention and maybe even feel bad. Absolutely not. Want to order? Walk yourself back up again. I even noticed a couple sitting to the side of the pool and bar that had to self-serve themselves as well. Absolutely reprehensible in general as it lacks common courtesy but more so because of their risible prices. Onion rings were a good portion size and the breading was crisp and flavorful. Same with the calamari. They took the strip meat and formed it into a larger ring size then breaded it and fried it. Lastly, the nachos were huge, very generous portion packed with all the goodies you expect in a good nacho platter. Like I said the service was rushed even though we got it to go but it is fine, the food made up for it. This is the new pool bar/restaurant at the new Westin Nanea Ocean resorts. I've eaten here a few times for the convenience and I have had decent experiences every time. The service here is excellent. The servers walk around the pool and take orders frequently and are really great. The bartenders work hard all day and are always super friendly and nice. I am so impressed by their hospitality and humor and kindness. The food here is decent. I've tried: - Onion Rings - quite good, well cooked - Wasabi Fingerling Potatoes - strange flavors but not bad - Calamari - really good - Dynamite Dog - good sausage, the wasabi peas are weird and trying a little too hard - Pork & Poi - out for several days in a row but not a bad sandwich - The Day After - I didn't real the description and didn't know it was soup, but it was pretty good - Dry Mein Noodles - my favorite here, very delicious My only issue with this place is the drinks. They are expensive, not strong, and not great for resort drinks. On the one hand the drinks are too fancy and expensive for a resort, but at the same time, they just aren't good. The beau got a $25 "Nanea Royal" which was 1) warm 2) had pineapple floats 3) used a lesser rum than advertised and 4) tasted like medicine. I'm fairly forgiving about resort drinks (just give me a Lava Flow or Cliff Diver and I'm happy) but the drinks here do not work for me. Overall, this is a decent spot for pool food. My burger was raw and along the edges, where it was cooked, the meat tasted spoiled. My sister's salad had rotten avocado and no dressing and had pastrami on it, when specifically asked to not have any. The grilled cheese didn't taste good. The wings were OK!
