If you want local snacks, cheap souvenirs, or just a good walk, this is the place to be. Every time I visit, I end up finding something great, but this specific trip was a massive win. I had been on a hunt for coconut apple (the spongy, sweet embryo inside a mature coconut)...I had been to another marketplace, but this was the spot where I found it. I walked stall by stall, asking the vendors. Some gave me a knowing look, and some didn't, but when I found it, I was happy and able to relive my childhood memories of eating this. Between hunting down rare local treats and scoring great deals on shirts, gear, and random finds, you easily get your dollar's worth here. Just make sure to bring cash, wear comfortable shoes, and get there early before the sun really starts beating down.

Located in the upper Waikele Outlet parking lot, this farmer's market is conveniently on Sunday mornings. They finally resumed their farmer's market after two months, and I missed them when they had their break. Why? Although a smaller farmer's market that fills only a parking row, I love the certain regular vendors that I can buy delicious sunday lunch for my family. The plate lunches are big enough to share, filling and flavorful. There are lines for certain vendors, but it's not as crowded and chaotic as Waikele's what the truck friday night events. They also have dessert stands as well as local fruits and vegetables, including fresh coconut and sugarcane. All the vendors are super nice and friendly, and it's a relaxing sunday for me to browse the tents and buy lunch and dessert for myself and the family. Although this past week was only half a parking row full since they just started again, I'm looking forward to having more vendors added to fill a full parking row like last year. Lots of parking, but the upper waikele parking stalls are narrow, so it's a bit tight.

I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. Nearby outside there's Kamehameha bakery, sugoi'a and other eateries. Nearby is Costco and Costco gas and Home Depot so you can't go wrong.

There use to be more vendors, now maybe a handful only. Why? Crops not producing?

This Farmers Market is not as large as others on island but, for us, we are drawn to several particular vendors. Like moths to lightbulbs, as soon as we come to the market, we head straight for the Baker Dudes tent. The Baker Dudes offer all sorts of breads and pastries. The yeast-risen breads have a doughy home made texture or perhaps even more like from a bread machine texture... dense, hearty with a nice chew. The range of baked goods include sourdough boules, quick breads, tropical fruit sweet breads, stuffed croissants, cookies, scones and even sticky buns. I think they even have a mobile oven that the "dudes" bake their products fresh on the premises. We've tried their sweet bread, two weeks in a row, starting with mango then cinnamon. This weekend, we even bought their mango stuffed turnovers which were buttery and flaky puff pastry triangles of pure Aloha. TIP: We arrived late, around 11:15-ish and were told that because it was so near to closing, they priced their pastries to go at 3/$5. Their sticky buns and stuffed croissants sell out quickly. They accept cash only and are reasonably priced. Service is congenial and efficient. Don't forget to bring your re-useable bags to put your goodies in as you roam the market. If you miss this vendor, don't worry... Baker Dudes are ALSO regular participants at the Kailua, Ward and Haleiwa Farmers Markets.
