First of all, this is a great place to gather with friends; lots of seating space. Since it's located in the uptown Pearlridge Mall, there are lots of parking. As for the food, it is a hit & miss. Some of our party liked their salad w/fried Char Siu chicken, onion rings and tots were also good appetizer food to munch on. Others had the Kalua Pig burger which was real salty. I had their Loco Moco with their dark gravy, which also was a bit too salty. I also chose to have the burger cooked medium well, which was a bit too tough to chew. I should have chosen medium. (An update to my previous post - I upgraded this review to 4 stars, from previous 3. As we left the place, the nice waitress stopped my friend who had the Kalua burger & gave her a new Kalua as the chef threw out the previous batch & made a new one. She loved it. Now who does that in today's world, listened to the customer & make a new batch & even sought out the person to make it right. This is a place to definitely come back to. Awesome Beer Lab!!!) The drinks were their pluses. And their service was excellent. Our waitress was very nice & very attentive. Franchised spot that has a few locations on this island. Definitely not a mom-and-pop feel as this is a beer establishment that is well-polished, super tidy, and efficient. They have pretty cool merch here as well. Lots of space inside and it's clean and well-organized. Came over to meet up with some friends and they had already ordered some dishes to share. Also had a jug/pitcher of something light, although I can't remember what it was. Tasted just fine. Ordered the following: - Beef tacos - 5/10: shredded beef on a corner tortilla. A little overseasoned I thought. And cheddar cheese should not go on tacos. - Katsu chair siu - 5/10: Normally you'd get this traditional dish in pork or chicken. But they used char siu here. Wasn't working for me. - Fries with char siu on top - 4/10: meh. Char siu and fries don't go well with each other, especially when you drizzle teriyaki-type sauce on top. Too sweet that there's a bit of an imbalance in flavor. They also had open mic karaoke here. Crowd was kinda dead, so we tried to liven them up with a familiar country tune. Didn't work. Oh well. Decided to stop by after hearing good things and because I've been wanting to try their beermosa--definitely the highlight of the visit. Ordering was super easy and quick using the QR code to place and pay, which I appreciated. The beermosa itself was refreshing and well done, and I'd absolutely come back just for that. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet expectations. The "crispy" pork ended up being more hard than crunchy--so chewy that after one piece my jaw was sore. I thought maybe it was just me, but my friend agreed it was tough as well. The grilled cheese was also a bit surprising. Instead of the classic buttery, crisp bread with melty cheese inside, the cheese was grilled onto the outside and inside, which left the sandwich lacking that satisfying crunch. The fries were tasty, but for a $7 upgrade, I was hoping for a more generous portion than what arrived on the plate. On a positive note, the staff was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and checked on us a few times during our meal, which always makes a difference. The place looked inviting and we were interested in what they had to offer. We were greeted by a server who explained that there was paper menu and a qr code to view the memu. QR Code is most current and is rhe only way to place your order. We got rhe Hall Burger and a Smash Burger. The Hall Burger was a nivel thick patty. The Smash Burger was a thin miniscule piece of meat. The Smash comes with Sautéed Mushrooms and Carmelized Onoions. I had to send it back. There was two small slivers of onion and no apparent mushrooms. Server returned to let me know there was mushroom paste, but it says sautéed. Even after sending back my meal there was little change. Slightly more cooked - not caramelized - onions and a smear more mushroom paste. Over all food quality and presentation is poor at best. Descriptions are lacking information or out right deceptive. Prices are high, yet the quality and value are not reflected in the product. Overall the experience was disappointing. Over priced menu items. Located in Uptown part of Pearlridge where Macy's and Ross's are. A few doors down from Starbucks and Cookie Corner on Diamond head side of mall. Large, open, bright space with long wooden tables, stools with no backs, and high tables with same. A few big screen tvs mounted on walls with sports going on. Ladies, it's not just a place for beer. They also have delicious variety of cocktails and mocktails. Server was very nice and let us know to use our phones to scan the QR on table. You order from here and pay too. The server won't come to take your order. Not sure how this is handled if you have no phone. They may have menus and drinks written on chalkboard at bar or maybe request a paper menu. She brought us waters with a bottle to refill on our own, plates, cutlery and napkins. Drinks didn't take long and were deliciously concocted. We ordered chips with ahi dip- lots of dip and not enough chips but I'm sure if you asked for more they would acquiesce. Yummy and right flavor not too salty. Also onion rings which were large and plenty in the basket! You had choice of ranch dressing or brown mustard and we wanted to mix so she said no problem and brought them! Then we had to try the dessert flight which were three cute little prepared sweets of crème Brûlée, strawberry shortcake and a brownie with some type of custard on top. Yum! I've been here many times before and liked the food. This time my family and I were disappointed. The fish tacos tasted generic. Nothing special about it. The sauce tasted cheap. The loco moco had a burnt taste- both the gravy and the hamburger. To order, you have to use a QR system, which was a little difficult. We didn't like it. The water cups were small- child like size. My family and I enjoy going to this brewery a lot! The beers that they had rotating this time around were all up my alley: red ale, seltzers, stouts. I really liked the red ale that I had. My other all-time favorite is the Lihing Pop seltzer. The other cocktail that I also always order is the berry guri guri which is yummy! Food is pretty good but pricey, so most times I only come for the beer. Service is always so good regardless of if they are slow or busy. It is family friendly and I've seen families here despite it being a bar. I recommend this place for small gatherings with friends and family. Soooooo the ambiance here is great, relaxed, and the staff is just absolutely awesome here. I have one suggestion though, if you're super hungry get their loco moco or one of their burgers over what I got...3 fish tacos with garlic fries. I was stoked watching everyone else's food come out looking great, and then I got mine and it was little itty bitty fish nuggets on a corn tortilla. You order by scanning the QR code at the table, so what I saw in the picture menu was not what I was hoping for lol. It tasted good, don't get me wrong, but I'll never order fish tacos from there again. I attached a picture of what's in the menu, and what I got. Meh..... not my cup of tea. Concept was good but was not impressed at all. The ordering part was actually convenient... you scan the QR code and then place your order on your phone. The servers then bring your food out to you. You can pay for your tab on your phone too. What I don't get is....... Then why tip? I've worked in the food service industry before... and if you're placing your own order and paying for it through your phone... the people there are there to basically deliver your food to you. I guess it's a "delivery" tip and not a "service" tip?? Also, I was not impressed with their food. The concept and their craft beers and having a nice gathering place for your friends is nice. However, I wasn't impressed with their beers either. If you don't like the beer, you're able to swap it out. Their fried foods are just that... fried. Not really tasty. It's just MY opinion. Came into town The staff has great hospitality. There was a guava beer I was excited to try but after a few sips it just wasn't for me so was able to swap for a different beer. The reason why we gave 2 stars is because service wasn't good at all. Server came to our table and mentioned what was on the menu. We told him it was our first time there. He then said they had fish tacos and some kind of chicken dish. I mentioned that I wanted the fried noodles, my hubby said he wanted to look through the menu. Server said he'll get the noodles going first. Then server came back and Mark ordered the fish tacos. To our surprise server said they didn't have fish tacos today, after he clearly told us they did. Then he says they didn't have chicken either. Mark ended up getting the Hall Burger. He just didn't like that sauce, some kind of mustard sauce. When we were done we were waiting for our tab to pay. Server never came back to check on us to see if we were done. Instead, he was standing behind the bar talking up a storm with a customer. Not once looking our way to see if we were done. We waited close to 30 minutes. Hubby finally stood up, walked to the bar, interrupted their conversation to tell the server he wanted to pay. He then came to the table gave us the tab, and walked away again. Hubby paid, server took the payment and took over 10 minutes to bring his change back. I am very happy with my service here. This is the third time I have come and I just love the vibe. My friends and I came here for my birthday last month. I have some unique food allergies and decided to write them down ahead of time. I gave the list to our server and I was happy to find out that they were able to accommodate me. You have to order and access their menu using a QR code. I was having trouble connecting to WIFI in order to access the QR code and order. I thought they might have a guest WIFI we could connect to since they require you to order yourself online using the QR code, but when we asked one of the servers who was passing by they said quickly said no and walked away. One of my friends at my table let me connect to their hotspot so I could place an order. And I was pleasantly surprised at the menu! we ordered the veggie omelette with bacon on the side - then my oldest said the thought the bacon would be in the omelette... OMG! Anyways, she said it was alright. Other daughter had the kim chee rice with 2 sunny side eggs - this was ono! I had to try the homemade biscuits with gravy and portuguese sausage as my meat. This was good but next time I'll ask for my gravy on the side because I didn't like it on my sausage. The biscuit and gravy was good! Rich gravy so careful if your cholesterol is high, lol! Ricotta strawberry pancakes were enormous and we just took a bite cause we were all so full! Needless to say I'd be back! I like how the food came on dishes like eating at someone's house, I love the nostalgia! Friendly service too! I also had a hot coffee, but my coffee wasn't hot. Came here on a Sunday around 3pm. First timer for my hubby & I (FYI, we are not beer drinkers) Place is a decent size, bar height seating along the perimeter (3 seaters) and long rectangular tables in the middle with approximately 8-10 chairs for each table, maybe 5-6 tables. Walked in and was told to sit anywhere so we chose one of the bar height tables along the walls which was a little uncomfortable because they used a barrel for the base which is very awkward for your legs (well, it was for me anyways). We were told to scan the QR code to order. The menu is not huge but it's decent. We ordered crispy fried pork, oxtail soup, and Kahlua Park nachos. The waitress was kind enough to give us a free sample of the Li Hing Seltzer which tasted half like beer and half seltzer, it was okay. As for drinks, we ended up ordering a Berry Guri & proper 12 whiskey and a diet coke. The food came out which looked great but there was a few things that we noticed. The crispy pork had a description in the menu with onions, tomatoes, scallions, etc. but it only came out with tomatoes. The oxtail soup was lukewarm which I ended up sending back with no issues. When she brought it back out it was a little warmer but you could tell they just microwaved it cuz the bowl was really hot but the soup was not but I just let it go. The soup base was on the salty side (Good to eat with rice but it did not come with rice although it was an entree) and had approximately three pieces of fatty oxtail in it, it was alright. The Kahlua Park nachos was good, there was no complaints with that. As far as the drinks, I totally recommend the Berry Guri (made with Maui's Guri guri, if you are familiar) it was really good. The whiskey was whiskey, It was fine. Service was great, very attentive and friendly. Probably my first and last time ever going here, but if you're a beer drinker you may really enjoy this place read more

I like this kind of place for beer. Many times I don't want to drink 12oz of beer. I usually want to try various types and at 4oz each, it's a great thing!!! BTW as of 3-6-22, it's OPEN, not closed. It was pretty full but my friend and I found a barrel which acted as a table with 2 chairs on the right. They have a nice assortment of beers - but warning, there were no pilsners that day. No Bud Light either here my local friends! They do have Paradise Ciders which I like as well. They have a nice food menu as well as one shot drinks ($6/each) and cocktails. Since we were there for lunch, there was a lunch bento and I love bentos. The bento was pretty good although the chicken katsu came without any type of sauce. Maybe mainland katsu or something LOL Anyway, nice place to chill. Could use a band or something at night. Will probably go back at some point. read more

New favorite brewery on island, and that's saying a lot because we have quite a few great ones! Beer Lab HI has been on my must-try list for way too long. Location is convenient, inside the Pearlridge Mall so there is always parking available. Lots of seating, but we opted for the bar to get tips and conversation from the bartender. Even if you sit at a table, ordering is through the bar (or the phone if you come for food). You can't go wrong with the beer. Every single one was awesome. Ask the staff for suggestions.. they won't disappoint! Food menu was interesting! Beer Lab is connected to a local food truck kitchen (which apparently switches up every so often). When we came, the menu had sweet chili tater tots, which we ordered and which were delicious! The onion rings were also delicious. We didn't actually try the burger, but our neighbors did and it both looked and smelled incredible! We will definitely explore the food more thoroughly on our next visit! read more

I was so excited to visit Beer Lab since moving away we got into beer tasting at breweries in California. We've visited and enjoyed many, so coming home for vacay...Beer Lab was on my "must try" list. Located in Pearlridge shopping center (uptown). As we entered you check-in at the bar, order your beer tastings, grab a table, and order food by mobile and pickup at a window. Nice place, atmosphere is chill. Beers were good, we got our recommendations by the bartender. For tasting you get 4. We really enjoyed Kijihata, Chidori, Fade to darkness. We also tried Tiger Lili which is a sour and I don't personally enjoy sours but I was intrigued to try it because of the lilikoi and passion fruit flavor. First time back after the renovation. I've come here dozens of times to get my beer and food fix. This place is awesome and has always created lots of fun memories. I love the rotating beer selection that keeps things fresh. The staff have always been great and really made the vibe inviting. Pre renovation, 5 stars everyday The only reason I docked a star this visit was because I'm biased toward the novel way beer lab operated previously. I thought it was refreshing to be able to order food and drink at your own pace from the main bar. This made it low pressure and convenient for groups of friends to gather and partake in the drink at their own pace/time and leave whenever they wanted without inconveniencing the group. The rotating food trucks through the kitchen was also an excellent way to promote local business. The new: The new look has a significantly more open concept. I'm not sure if they are furnishing the joint more, but as it is now all the tables sit about 6 maybe more. I anticipate they will add some two tops in the future. There is much more of a restaurant feel now. Check out the new epic menu! Lots of new items and some familiar favorites (yay wagyu burger) they even serve delicious cocktails now. I could drink their li hing old fashions anyway. Staff were super friendly as usual and very attentive to their tables now that you no longer go to the bar for service. Beer: 8.5/10 ( smooth and not too pricey ) Food: 9/10 ( tasty!!! but fries were too oily! ) Service: 7/10 ( we waited roughly about 30 minutes for our food to be ready and the estimated wait time was 24 minutes... ) Overall, great ambiance and good place to catch up with friends, family or even a chill date night. read more

During COVID-19, they brought in two food truck vendors on a rotating schedule to fulfill food orders, and they are both outstanding. Sistah works the kitchen Tues - Fri (Tues is daytime only) - if you've never tried Sistah before, order the wagyu cheeseburger and chicken katsu with mushroom sauce. Trust me! The burger is thick and juicy - you'll need plenty of napkins for it. And the crinkle cut fries are nice n crispy. Flyin Ahi works the kitchen Saturdays - Mondays. My friend & I came here in the late afternoon yesterday and this place was empty! Lucky us. We ordered some type of mango drink, can't remember the name because I don't normally drink IPA or craft beers, sorry! Haha. But it was actually pretty good. There were 2 bartenders and lots of open seats. You order your beer at the bar and you can either sit at the bar or choose a table. There's a QR code to scan for food. From what I've heard, there's different food trucks every day that serve food. When we went it was flyin ahi. We shared the kalbi fries and it was so good!! We thought we'd order more food after but we were full just from that. The 2 guys working at the bar were super friendly and were even walking around to come ask how everyone was doing. Wow, what a different bar concept. My friends took me there for my first time. I was very please to say that they complied to Restaurant Covid Standards. Everyone wore a mask, some of them had gloves tables were 6ft or more apart, hand sanitizer on each table, and of course all customers had to wear a mask too. It is located in Phase I of Pearlridge bottom floor. I was surprised to see children allowed in a atmosphere like that but I guess times are changing. They have an unusual ordering system. As far as alcohol drinks, you go up to the bar, order it and carry it back to your table. For food, you have to snap shot the QR code on the table, order on line, then wait for a text message when it's ready to pickup by a food window. Text message said order pickup will be ready by 6:30pm. It's 7:41pm then our confirmation pickup finally delivered to us by phone text. Our food order was sitting there about an hour. We were a little upset but we were there for the drinks and just hanging out with friends. We had Tator tots and chips with a dip. We wasn't too impressed with the food for the fact that it was cold. I brought it up to the girl behind the food window. All she said it must have been a glitch in the computers because of the rainy weather outside. She did say she was sorry but no compensation was offered. For drinks, we started out with a couple of Ko'olauloa, the alcohol by volume was 7.0% with IPA with citra Mosiac hops. It was actually smooth tasting with a Lilikoi flavor and not to bitter. The alcohol crept up slowly. A very enjoyable drink. We also had Mililani Red wine ABV of 5.9% IBU 16. Red Ale w/cascade hops. Very smooth, could not taste the bitterness. Another enjoyable drink. I think this place was the last place to close. Other stores in the mall shut down around 6:30. Overall, drinks were great, but they need to improve in the food section. I minused 2 stars but gave them back 1 for the good drinks. read more
