This place is so yummy we came back the next morning for more!! I can't believe this was my third time on the island and I'm just now finding this place! It's AMAZING!!! The French toast is out of this world. It's a donut-like bread friend and covered in crunchy cinnamon sugar deliciousness, then topped with fresh caramel whipped cream. Have I died and gone to diabetes heaven??? It's a must-try when on the island.

This place went above and beyond! I was expecting just a regular garlic shrimp lunch plate but wow best garlic shrimp I've ever had. Me and my husband liked it better than Giovanni and all other in Hawaii. Shrimp came with head on with great amount of garlic juice. You have a choice of side salad from macaroni, kimchee or seaweed. Service wasn't great but all they do is take order and hand out food when it's ready. They don't really clean dine in tables so it's more like self service. We cleaned table our own. We will come back again :)

We were soooo hungry after hiking and stumbled upon Wake Up Delicious and thank goodness we did! The food here is excellence with friendly service and pretty views/people watching from the deck. It's a great place to grab food and take to the beach too. I will definitely visit again, Mahalo!

It was so good the first time I had to go back before my trip ended. Super good food and nice staff. There are very few seats for eating but it is a cute restaurant with stickers, hats and other souvenirs This is a must try.

The restaurant has quite a bit of seating but was still a full house when we went. I tried the garlic shrimp. It ws sooo good. Very generous portion of sauce and goes so good with the rice.

Worth all of the hype - nothing on their menu will disappoint. I don't anticipate ever being able to top that churro French toast in my lifetime for breakfast, it is incredible if you've got a sweet tooth. Indoor seating is limited but their counter service is quick so you can grab and go to a nearby picnic table if there are no seats inside.

Stumbled into this place because we saw it had a long line so we figured it must be good. And we were right. I got the katsu plate and the katsu was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It paired perfectly with the seaweed salad and rice. They were also very generous with the serving of katsu. The other unbeatable part about this place is the view you get if you eat on their patio. We just got to stare at the mountains and you can even see the waterfalls on those mountains. 10/10 dining experience, just beware of the chickens that will try to go at your food, haha.

Great service and chill atmosphere. The burrito I ordered was exactly what I needed that morning. Love Kauai and next time I go back, I will be returning to this establishment. My iced coffee was delicious, too

We had breakfast at Wake Up Delicious and everything truly lived up to the name! Every bite was so good, but the churro French toast was the star of the table -- perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and big enough to share. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and texture. On top of the amazing food, the views made the whole experience even better. There's just something about enjoying a delicious breakfast with a beautiful view that makes it that much more special.

DEC2025 Second visit to the area for us, had to bring friends to try it since we were around. Great for breakfast tho the weather wasn't the greatest at the time. Seating can be pretty limited tho it looks like they changed it a bit to fit more people outside. We were lucky to catch it as the line piled up behind us. Service helped with any questions we had. My partner and I got burritos, mine veggie hers kalua pork, along with a half order of the churro toast, coffee, and POG juice. Everything was cooked well. The burritos were still solid, everything well balanced as far as the ingredients. I wanted a bit more veggies but that's just personal preference. The churro toast was nice. It wasn't overly sweet which was surpising and it had a really nice crunch to it. Compatriots had ordered a kalua burrito and a plate to share and really enjoyed the meal. Most took a nice nap after the fact.

Hands down the best food! We loved every bit. It gets super crowded but totally worth the time and wait! Our food came faster than expected. Can't wait to go back! PS they have the best Mac Salad

Girlfriend and I went out to the town to explore and it was decided we'd try this place out. This is a pretty small eatery that sells a variety of different trinkets. There isn't a lot of seating available, but we were lucky enough to find a spot. It's pretty cute and it was nice to browse while waiting for food. Staff was very friendly and I didn't feel rushed when placing my order. Got two different main dishes, Garlic Shrimp and Chicken Katsu. My girlfriend got her Garlic Shrimp with a scoop of rice and a side of seaweed salad. The portion of shrimp you get is very generous! The lemon garlic butter sauce really came through and was a perfect pairing for the shrimp. Flavors were nice and balanced. While the shrimp was delicious, she wasn't a fan of the seaweed salad, it didn't seem like it was fresh. My Chicken Katsu was delicious and its the best piece of katsu I've tried so far! It was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. My only critique would be to serve the sauce on the side so the bottom of the katsu doesn't get soggy and one gets to enjoy that perfect crispness for longer. I got my katsu with a scoop of rice and kimchee. Both my sides were just okay. I would definitely come back to have both dishes again and perhaps try something new. Overall a 4/5 experience!

That Churro French Toast is something else. Drove up just to try it, had to wait 35 minutes, but it was worth it!! Also had their Kalua Pork Burrito - wasn't anything new to me, but portion size was great for the price.

When does this place open? We would really love to check them out before we leave....

    11:30 am

Hi, does anyone know if they'll be open this week? I've been trying to eat here since last week but it keeps saying "closed-special hours" and they don't answer the phone. We leave the island soon and this place looks like an absolute must try. 🤤

Chef is on vacation. Open again Tuesday 8/13. There is a sign posted in the front window of the truck.

Are they cash only? Or will they take a credit card?

Service was accommodating and attentive while we navigated the menu; they offered recommendation as well which we really appreciated it. To drink, I ordered the cold brew with mac milk. It was refreshing! Not too creamy if that's not your style. Also not too sweet - which I really liked. Friend ordered the banana bread which was good but not stand-out. To eat, we split a garlic shrimp plate, breakfast burrito, and churro French toast. The garlic shrimp was my pick and it was seasoned well. Some parts of the shrimp were a little too mushy but overall good. The best thing on that plate was the mac salad! The breakfast burrito was good but even better with the salsa provided. The star was truly the churro French toast - which is less of a French toast and more like a fried donut? Nonetheless, the sauce/cream it came with was divine and paired amazing with the cinnamon-y crispiness of the bread. A cute little spot in Hanalei worth trying if you find yourself along the north shore for brunch.

My husband found them on-line and from the moment of initial contact, Carla was amazing to work with. Our wedding was a destination wedding with the reception in the backyard of a large house that our family rented. We had about 24 guests including us, which seemed like a lot for a destination wedding. We had a wedding 'coordinator' to help us with the planning but to be honest, she wasn't great. Carla offered suggestions and per positive and joyful demeanor was such a pleasure to work with. The food.... This was to die for. Chef Eric is truly talented and the passion for what he does is reflected in his cooking. They came into the house, worked in the smaller kitchen, and kept bringing out food that was delicious. It has been over 6 months since our wedding and our guests still talk about how wonderful the food was. My mother in law, the one that rented the house, also still talks about how they came in, cooked, cleaned up and left and you never would have known someone was working in the kitchen. We had appetizers, salads, finger foods, small main dishes and a cupcake tower all by Chef Eric. Chef Eric and Carla are locals and community helpers. There was plenty of food left over from our reception and instead of throwing it away, they donated the food to a local charity which I was very touched by. If there is any question as to whether to book them, do it. You will be just as amazed as my husband and I were.

Foodland is a Hawaiian original, founded in Honolulu on 1948 as Hawaii's first modern supermarket, and continues to be owned by the founder's family. It has 31 locations across the islands, but only one is still open in Kauai (the Lihue location closed during Covid). It's kinda hidden, so would need to explicitly look for it. It's a medium size supermarket. The poke station and hot deli are located together with the same associates manning both. It was busy and crowded around that area, so important to pull a number and wait. Once my number was called, got seven different items and the associate was patient. My wife doesn't like poke, so made herself a hot lunchbox for a good price (one Korean chicken drumstick at $2.50 each; cheddar cheese tots $2.79 for 0.31 lbs; one corn cob $1.29) while I made a deconstructed poke bowl ($3.38 for 2 scoops of white rice; chili garlic crunch ahi $4.80 for 0.30 lbs; Poke fresh ahi hawaiian style $11.56 for 0.34 lbs; california style ahi $4.80 for 0.30 lbs). My favorite was the California style, with the avocado. It reminds me of the taste of a California roll. Hate to admit it, but paying for almost triple the price for fresh ahi tuna isn't worth it...the from frozen was still great as a poke.
