They don't take reservations for smaller parties, but they do have an option to add your name to a waitlist online through Yelp. Fortunately we arrived early enough that there wasn't a wait yet, and we were able to get seated almost immediately. First off, I love all the chicken decor. It suits the island vibe and is so Kauai! The food and drinks were all fantastic. A couple members of our party ordered sweets (french toast and waffles) and a couple of us did savory (breakfast sandwich and Kauai benedict). Across the board, we were all extremely happy with our choices and continued to rave about this meal even after it was over. We actually have a Kountry Kitchen back home on O'ahu just 5 minutes from us in Ewa Beach, but we really wanted to try this Kauaʻi location before catching our flight back! Fun fact: it's run by a brother-and-sister duo, and I can honestly say this Kauaʻi spot takes the win for me. The Food & Drink: Kauaʻi Benedict (Hubs' pick): Kalua pork with lomi tomato/onion on Hawaiian bread. The hollandaise sauce was insanely buttery, and the eggs were poached to perfection. SO good! Ube Mochi Pancakes (Special): I was originally set on the ube French toast, but our amazing server Carrie convinced me to get these instead. Oh my word, zero regrets! It's a 3-stack smothered in rich ube sauce, coconut flakes, and coconut cream. They bring coconut syrup on the side, but as a total coconut lover, I didn't even need it; the coconut cream on top provided plenty of flavor! Coffee: Super solid cup brewed with local Waimea beans. PRO TIP: Get on the Yelp waitlist early! It gets super packed with both locals and tourists. I checked in on Yelp while we were still packed up at our Airbnb in Princeville. I was 17th in line. By the time we got there, I was 3rd in line and only had to wait 5 minutes before the host took us in. Also make sure to double-check their hours online since they have limited daytime hours. Kauai still hasn't recovered from the pandemic. On a Saturday morning, not that early, it was tough to find anything that was open. The timing was such that they turned on the "open" sign as we were passing by. It's on Kuhio Highway, so there's free parking in front and a pay lot on the side. Note: The pay lot isn't paved and is very bumpy and rocky. There's a small cafe side and a larger restaurant side, with the kitchen in the middle. We were getting takeout do we opted for the cafe. There are a few tables and chairs. Prices were predictably high, but the portions were generous, and the food was good. I had the breakfast sandwich with eggs (not green) and ham. It was quite large, compared to any other breakfast sandwich I've had. The three others in my party enjoyed their food and drink, too. It would be nice to come back for lunch. read more

Girlfriend and I were trying to grab breakfast before we had to depart for the day, and she found Kountry Kitchen, and goddamn am I glad she did. I gotta say, I generally don't like grabbing food for take-out, it just doesn't taste as good, nor is it as fresh, but this place was worth it. My girlfriend called ahead and found they had a pretty long wait time. Sucked for us, but it's a good sign when there's a line out the door of people waiting to be seated. I was only inside a brief moment to pick up the food, but staff was very friendly, and the hustle and buzzle of the place gave this brunch spot that air of "you will clean your plate, you will eat too much, and you will like it." We decided on the Kauai Benedict and it was phenomenal. Egg's were on point in flavor and texture, the sweet roll worked as the perfect vessel for the flavors, and the kahlua pork was fantastic, cooked well, and seasoned flawlessly. To top it all off, they honored our request for extra crispy hash browns. After joining a wait list that was 30 minutes long to finally be seated, just to be treated by a server (didn't even introduce themselves) with no ability to even remove ham from an eggs Benedict, to them saying no substitutes for hard poaching an eggs Benedict? I visited Kountry Kitchen in Kapaʻa, Kauaʻi, Hawaii [4-1485 Kuhio Hwy] on Thursday, 01/22/26, around 10:30 AM. Giving two stars for a restaurant is rare from my end. Unfortunately, this restaurant provided a gigantic lackluster, and underwhelming experience. Here were the main issues: * The service was quite slow. It took a long while to be greeted initially at the table, and even longer to receive the bill at the end. * There were a few flies around during the entire meal, which made it super difficult to enjoy my food in peace. My comfort in eating was stripped away. * Parking was difficult to find in the immediate area. I had to park my vehicle up the street. * The price points for breakfast food were teetering more on the slightly expensive side. On the positive side, the food tasted decent. I ordered the Kalua Pork & Egg with a side of white toast and Portuguese Sausage. The wait time for seating was minimal, and the restaurant's interior was nice, especially with the gift shop filled with a lot of rooster-related products. Delicious home style grinds! I checked in as a party of 1 around 10 AM and was quoted a 50 min wait, but I actually ended up getting seated within 10-20 min. I got seated in a small corner, which was fine. I got the loco moco, which came with a big patty and drenched in gravy. We stumbled upon Kountry Kitchen while looking for breakfast. It was fairly empty when we arrived but quickly filled up which, to me, indicates a good breakfast reputation. The hashbrowns were crispy, the omelets were plentiful and the pancakes were huge. Portion size was reflected in the prices which, honestly, are pretty standard Hawaii prices (it just hurts this Texan to pay $20+ for a simple ingredient meal). Checked out this breakfast place based on other reviews raving about the coconut syrup and pancakes. I pictured the inside differently, but it was clean and they had plenty of seating and high chairs for little ones. The Ube French toast, was delicious and probably the best "Ube sweet breakfast" I enjoyed while vacationing on the islands, but other than that I wouldn't return. It was on the pricier side, but the service was good overall. The loco moco was probably our least favorite on the island. They do have a gift shop in the front of the restaurant you can purchase from and they'll even ship it out for you for a fee. The coffee was good, but they'll charge you $2 for a to-go cup. This was the perfect spot for brunch on our first day in the Kapa'a area! The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the menu was great. we ordered Kalua Pork Grilled Cheese, the Corned Beef Hash, the Bacon Avocado Grilled Cheese, and of course, a side of spam. Everything we tried was delicious, but the Kalua Pork was a standout! Kountry Kitchen is a popular spot and is very convenient when you need a hearty meal! The restaurant parking area can be difficult due to the fact that there's not much street parking, but there is a lot across the street you can park in. It's a very spacious restaurant and has a gift shop inside with a lot of cute items to browse if you need to wait for your table. We had a large group of 8 but were seated quickly and our server was very nice. I had the Loco Moco which is my favorite meal to eat while in Hawaii. It was ok but to be honest, I've had better at other restaurants. I found the patty and gravy lacking in flavor. Came for breakfast today and had a great time, I cleared my plate and wished I had a second stomach to fit my whole pancake! Everyone in my group of 8 enjoyed their food. I was really excited to grab breakfast here, but personally I felt like my meal was just okay. My friend and I stopped by for breakfast on our first full day in Kauai. We were able to get seated as soon as we arrived Friday morning around 8 am. There's some limited parking right in front of the restaurant and a much larger dirt lot right across the street where most people were parking. The menu is huge and has all the breakfast/brunch staples you can think of. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted, since everything looked so good, and ultimately went with the corned beef hash loco moco with a side of cornbread for $24. I've never seen this combo before, but as someone who loves corned beef and loco mocos, I figured I couldn't go wrong. Unfortunately it fell flat. I didn't feel like there was a lot of corned beef, there was way too much rice (despite all my efforts I had a lot of rice left at the end), and I was NOT a fan of the gravy at all. It tasted pretty weird to me. Also, I got freshly squeezed watermelon juice, which was a special, and didn't realize it would be $9. All the other juices on the menu were only $6, so this came as a surprise to me when I saw the final bill. It's a place that has to be on your list for breakfast (don't delay get there early as a line is very typical) The atmosphere is inviting and the staff is top notch friendly. Every time I visit Kauai, I have to stop at Kountry Kitchen -- and I've yet to be disappointed. The service is always friendly, the coffee's solid, and the food is consistently great. The place has that cute, homey diner atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable the moment you sit down. I had the special -- a sausage eggs benedict served on cornbread -- while my partner stuck with his usual, the pork loco moco. The special was really good, though I think I still prefer their classic eggs benedict. The cornbread and sausage were a nice twist, though, and definitely worth trying. Kountry Kitchen has an extensive menu filled with classic breakfast items you'd expect to find in Hawaii, such as loco mocos and mac nut pancakes. The place was pretty full the whole time we were there so I'd make a reservation to be safe. Parking is mostly street but I noticed a parking lot by the Public Library that seemed free and open. Once seated, we were greeted by one of the friendliest servers ever! She was so nice and accommodating even though we were a huge group. We loved the recommendations she gave and she even cracked some jokes at our friends' expense. She had a lot of tables to take care of but it never felt like we were forgotten. Fresh Juice: Not sure if it's available every day, but our choices were watermelon, cantaloup, and honeydew. I've never had the last two as fresh juices so we had to order and try it. It looks very artificial but trust me, it's so good. I also liked that none of them were pulpy. They weren't that cold but if they had put some ice cubes in it, it probably would have diluted the flavor. Macadamia Nut French Toast: Their french toasts are made with sweetbread so it's already kind of sweet without the powdered sugar and syrup. I'm not sure if they also bake the bread with mac nuts but they give a lot on top so every bite has a bit of that mac nut flavor. The french toast is also fluffy and moist, pretty good! Traditional Loco Moco: There's multiple things to customize but I ordered it as is, with the traditional beef patty and regular white rice. You can order the eggs any style but I recommend getting them over easy so the yolk can mix in with the gravy and rice. The patty was a little dry but tasted fine with the gravy, which you can ask for more. Also comes with cornbread so make sure to ask for butter and honey! I am genuinely surprised by the average high rating that this restaurant has. While the staff was friendly and the food came out quickly, I would not say it was worth the wait. It is seemingly one of the only breakfast-y restaurants in Kapaa, and it offers a pretty basic greasy spoon menu with an island twist! I ordered the Avocado, Egg and Cheese breakfast sandwich and I convinced my husband to order the Traditional Loco Moco from the Kountry Favorites section of the menu. I also ordered a side of rice just for something a little extra to eat with my sandwich. The biggest takeaway I can say for what we had is that flavor and seasoning was missing entirely across the board. You can see it in the photo of my breakfast sandwich, but there was no seasoning to be found - not even pepper. It was quite bland and really could have been elevated by the addition of a simple sauce. I was also disappointed for my husband because I hyped up how popular of a dish the Loco Moco is and he ended up experiencing the same lack of flavor. I am very understanding that food on the island will usually be more expensive, but I do find the prices hard to justify for how simple and underwhelming the meal was. Aside from the meal, I do have some comments regarding the dining area. The tables felt packed pretty closely to one another - we had five of us dining in our group and they threw a chair at the end of a four top table for us. The space in the walkway really did not allow comfortably for that. Additionally, there was one working bathroom in the entire restaurant as the men's restroom was closed. This clogged up the space in the dining area as well as there were many people waiting for the entirety of the time we spent here. I'm hoping that this experience really was a one-off atypical dining experience that one might have at Kountry Kitchen. From looking at some of the other reviews on here, I'm thinking that maybe the downfall of the meal can be summed up to bad ordering as some other menu items look much better than what we received. I only wish they had different options for the fruit side but since they only offered papaya, I went with the hash browns instead. Pretty big serving size and I was stuffed by the end. The real offense was the loco moco. We had to ask for green onions, which may be preference thing but most, if not all, loco mocos we've had include green onions. And those onions were necessary because neither the beef patty nor the gravy had any flavor. We had to put so much salt and pepper on it... so disappointing. I went on a Thursday morning for breakfast and was easily able to add myself to the Yelp waitlist ahead of time ( waited about 20 minutes.) The staff was very friendly and there is a cute store inside to look at while you wait. I ordered the Polynesian omelet with hash browns and Chai Latte. Both were really good so 4 stars for the taste of the food, good service, and really clean bathrooms. Minus 1 star since it took about 45 minutes to get the food. Worth the wait though...
