Went to "Sandwich Isle" for the Mac Nut Pesto Sandwich. It has turkey, Mac nut pesto, lettuce, tomato, provolone cheese on wheat bread. It was delicious. The store is a walk up window with very nice staff. They were all very polite and helpful. The service was good and they let me know right away that they had a lot of orders before me and gave me an accurate waiting time. They have seating and tables outside. I was excited to try this sandwich spot as it was close to where I was staying and I noticed they have unique sandwiches such as the Mac nut pesto. The location is in the Foodland center with tables to eat nearby, there is no entrance you order from a window . Unfortunately the cashier was not very welcoming on arrival. We ordered three sandwiches one day during our weeklong stay at the nearby Westin. There's a walk up window where you order, pay, and provide your name for pick up. We were told it'll be 20 minutes. Each sandwich contained plenty of Boars Head deli meat. The bread was local sourdough. I'm from San Francisco the birthplace of sourdough. This wasn't quite like back home but it was good. Up in Princeville and grabbed some lunch at SI. Partook in the turkey sandwich and the Philly. Nice vibe sitting outside after ordering. Took about 20 minutes to get our order. Nice girls taking the orders. Unfortunately the Philly was pretty tasteless, with thicker slices of meat rather than a cheesesteak and the turkey was bland despite being Boars head by report. The only place on the North Shore of Kauai that has the best sandwiches! I got the BBQ sandwich and the Mac Nut Pesto Sandwhich; both very hearty and made with care! They are sure to tell you up front it takes 20-30 mins per order but it is 100% worth the short wait. We looked up reviews for this location and they all seemed really great. So I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad day. When we arrived, mid day for lunch, we were the only ones there. The lady at the counter (possibly owner) seemed more concerned with her looks than the customers at the window. She did ask if it was our first time there, we said yes, and had hoped for some recommendations. None were given. We ordered our two sandwich's, 1 bag of chips, 1 bottle of normal water and 1 can soda. Our total was $56!!!! insane the cost. That was without tip. they claim to make their bread there, but it tasted stale and many many days old. Maybe it would have been better toasted? But we weren't given's hat option. We both agreed, not worth the money, the drive or our time. They looked way better than they tasted. I think you may find a better sandwich else where. It was nice to sit outside on their covered patio, and I even saw a little family eating in the grass area like a picnic. But they should consider putting in normal height tables and chairs, not just bar height. The place did seem clean and the workers in the kitchen seemed nice. read more

We stopped here after a nice drive from Poipu. The shopping center had plenty of parking and this sandwich shop seemed to be very popular. So we got in line and were ignored by the lady at the register for a good 5-7 minutes as she turned her head and talked to a random person walking by and then a local coming to pick up - not like there was a long line of people waiting to order ( I should mention, several families just left due to her lack of a sense of urgency). They said it would take about twenty minutes, but our sandwich was done well before that. Our sandwich was filled with fresh ingredients and big enough to share.
