This was the first time we'd ever gone to Waldo's Chicken and Beer and we probably wouldn't go back. First, when we walked in, there was nobody in the front so we were just kind of standing there waiting for someone to greet us. The young man who did eventually greet us was nice and asked us if we were ready to order. Since we'd never been there, we didn't know that the concept is to order your food before you are seated and since we were totally unfamiliar with the menu, we were holding up the people behind us so he gave us some menus and we just kind of stood to the side until we knew what we wanted. The order counter is off to the side of the entrance and seating area and is kind of in the bar area which I thought was oddly placed. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer and they were big and pretty good. My husband got the two piece dark chicken with collard greens and Mac and cheese, and I got the tenders and potato wedges. He remarked that the chicken was okay and the collard greens and Mac and cheese did not have much flavor. I tried his Mac and cheese and it seemed old and lacking in cheese or sauce. The chicken tenders were good but the potato wedges tasted old and not hot. The worst part for me though was that the tables are sticky - not because of something that was spilled but rather because of the varnish so it gives the impression that they are dirty. Also, when I used the women's bathroom, it looked like the stall doors have never been wiped down which totally grossed me out. Even though the food wasn't necessarily bad it isn't remarkable compared to any other chicken establishment, and the hype about the sauces seemed unwarranted. The BBQ and honey mustard sauces were way too sweet and the jalapeño ranch was devoid of ranch in my opinion. Staff were great, very helpful and nice. Food was okay as far as flavor. 1/4 dark fried chicken was crispy, tender, and juicy but not enough salt or spices. It does come with a dipping sauce but chicken still needed seasoning. As I was looking for a different place to eat other than the usual. This establishment came in my view. Chicken and Beer definitely caught my attention. The establishment that used to be here was a BBQ joint which was good as well so this brick and mortar didn't skip a beat. The food is made from scratch and I can tell it was as well. 1st time eating food from Waldo's . I came here once before as I was inquiring about if they had happy hour. The hostess said they didn't know. She went to the bar and asked them , the bar tender said she didn't understand the question but they had a list of beers that were dollars off , nobody could really give me an answer. So I walked right out. That was last year. Today I had an errand in the area and wanted some chicken so I gave it another chance but this time I did the drive thru. The menu board was easy to read , speakers worked perfectly , and food came out to about $50. It was for a bucket of fried chicken, 2 larger sides , 4 muffins and some sauces. I pulled up to the window and was barely greeted but the young man was ready to take payment. The food came out quickly. The chicken was cooked well but had no flavor. There were very few pieces of shredded chicken. I asked for the beak burner dry rub. It was in a small container on the side not covered onto the chicken. The biscuits barely tasted like cheddar biscuits. A far cry from what I believe a cheddar biscuit is supposed to taste like. Definitely not worth the price. I will not be going back. read more

I know, I know....I should try the rotisserie but honestly, nothing beats a good, crunchy chicken sammy, so on my first time visiting, I went straight to the top (of the menu) and ordered The OG. It has always been my opinion that a chicken thigh is one of the best parts of a bird and The OG doesn't disappoint. I ordered the sammy sans mayo with slaw on the side and wow was I impressed with the meal. The slaw isn't uber wet and has a nice semi sweet flavor. First timer eating Waldo's chicken. This restaurant is a great local spot in the Aurora Southlands mall area. It's very well priced and all the food is wonderfully seasoned. All the sauces are excellent each one unique and true to its taste. Did a curbside order & they were prompt and delivered right on time. Highlights of our meal were the howl chicken sandwich, the onion rings 10/10 crispy and delicious. Cheddar biscuits were also a great addition to our meal. Waldos is a great local alternative to fast food meals, inexpensive and a great option for a weeknight meal. Such a playful, fun environment. The service was fast to get our food, the staff were friendly. You order at the front, then they give you a table number and someone will bring the food to your table. After you are done just know they clean up your table as well for you, there are no trash cans around for you to put away your dishes and trash afterwards. Love the concept. As soon as I walked up to the cashier to order in this fast casual restaurant, the cashier greeted us so warmly. We ordered a variety of items, essentially creating our own family feast. The coating of the fried chicken and cook on the chicken was perfect. We wish the chicken itself was seasoned more though. Maybe needed to marinate longer or brined or something prior to batter and fry. But that's our personal preference and might just not be their style. The rotisserie chicken was tasty enough. Better than costco or grocery store for sure, but I've had much better at other restaurants that specialize in rotisserie chicken. It seems like they pride themselves on sauce, and I saw that Alabama white sauce that I hate so much. I gave it a try, and I still dislike Alabama white sauce. But that's just me disliking that sauce, and not a knock on the restaurant. Overall, I'm not a huge fan of any of their sauces though. I have a couple of problems with this restaurant that I need to mention first. There are only two in Colorado and the closest one is more than 10 miles away. The restaurant is always clean and vibrant. The employees have always been helpful and courteous. They are open Sundays and have a much better chicken than others. The tenders are juicy and hot. The staff were super nice and helpful. The food was not only a great price for a large serving of food, but the food was really good. The batter on the chicken was the perfect spice level and the fruit tea is now one of my favorite drinks. I'm also not a fan of coleslaw, but their's is actually good. Not watery, over sauced, or too much sugar. Big mistakes that most places make with their slaw. The only negative I would say about the experience was that the place was super cold. Everything was super tasty and I love HOT potatoes. My hubby had the 6 wing snack with a side a fries. He Durrant like sauce ands these wings meet his approval. Crispy and tasty outer skin, delicious without any sauce. He said he will be back. The service was amazing and friendly, like they want us to come back. We got the Six Finger Feast it comes with six fingers and 2 sides we got fries and potato wedges, the chicken had a good crunch batter. The sides were good I'd recommend the wedges over the fires with the fries being a little soggy.
