I was nearby-ish this past week a little after 1:30 and hadn't yet had lunch. I was in the mood for chicken and, thankfully, remembered Chook. When I got there, it was obviously after the main lunch rush since there was no line at the counter and only a few occupied tables in the dining area. Anyway, I was dining alone and ordered Chook For You (1/4 chicken either white or dark meat, one side, one sauce). I got white meat (breast with attached wing), mashers & gravy, and the chimichurri sauce). I also ordered a single side of the smashed cucumbers and an iced tea. This was a lot of food, especially for the price. The breast piece was large, and the sides of mashers and cucumbers COULD be shared by two people (but I managed - somehow, sigh). It was all incredibly delicious and satisfied by craving for a little comfort food. The chimichurri sauce was so yummy that I was scraping it out of the container it was served in with my knife so I could get it all! The staff were very friendly and the dining room was clean. My first time here and my experience was awesome. The 2 young adults, Layla and Yoni, were terrific. Excellent Service, and tour of the store was very cool. Loved the setup inside and the concept overall. It was clean and empty when we visited on a weeknight. The restaurant name didn't lend any details that it's mainly chicken with an Australian flare. The chicken itself was good, just one piece that was dry. It's nicely seasoned and comes with choices of sauces and sides. We tried a red pepper sauce that we didn't love and a bbq sauce that we liked a lot. We ordered mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac and cheese, and a seasonal squash dish. The portions were large and we ended up bringing some home. I would love to see an option for a flight or threesome of just sides for those not wanting chicken. Needed somewhere to eat and my hubby and I decided to get something different besides sushi or pizza so we got rotisserie chicken but the chickens different since they stopped using the charcoal fire rotisserie that gave the chicken a smoked taste. My veggies were room temperature- could have been hot. Now the wedges are delicious but not a big fan of the ketchup they make in house. It was nice to have them bring our order to us. First visit--I've a friend whose favorite takeout is from Chook. Another friend and I checked it out. Friendly greeting from employees set us off right. We ordered a chicken salad sandwich with avocado to share, and individual orders of Chook wedges (potatoes) and grilled veggies, both of which we also shared. It was plenty of food. The sandwich was perfect, on really good toasted sourdough. We loved the wedges, served with spicy biribirri sauce (not catsup, as another reviewer mistakenly thought). The grilled veg were also good. (A shareable order of those on its own would make a nice vegetarian lunch for one person). It was fairly quiet this Tuesday lunch time, but I noticed a lot of take out orders. We'll definitely return! read more

Today, I discovered a little Australia in Denver. I started seeing this restaurant pop up in several parts of Denver in the last several years. My curiosity got tickled each time passed by the Pearl Street location more than a handful of times. As much as I wanted to know badly as to what kind of food they served, I walked past by it as if I didn't have the guts to spontaneously pop in and dine. I don't know why I had kept bypassing it until today. Luckily however, I was able to muster up the courage I needed to try it for the first time at their Orchard location (it's their newest location I believe) as I had some business I needed to take care of in the same shopping center where the restaurant is located. Glad I did. This place focuses on "clean eating". Chook apparently is an Aussie lingo and it means chicken. It's a rotisserie chicken place that sells affordability but with class. They truly care about our bodies so what goes into their cooking is a big deal to them. This all resonates with me. Alex Seidel, the guy who is responsible for the creation of this restaurant chain also owns none other than Fruition and Mercantile Dining & Provisions. I had no clue. The time was around 4:30pm on a beautiful September day (Monday). A bit early for dinner. For me, it was a super late lunch and early dinner combined. I wanted some quality protein to satisfy my hunger. As I was checking out this place on Yelp, I simply could think of anything else than this. I knew I came to the right place once I was inside the restaurant. A very clean entrance leads to the ordering counter but before I got there I took the time to take some photos of the decorations and wall art. No rush/no hurry; I was pretty much the only customer. A young man friendlily greeted me (Derrick per the receipt.) He made a quick recommendation as I told him I was looking for the best/signature dish. He said to get the Chook for You, a plate of quarter chicken and a side. He then asked me if I wanted the white or dark meat. As my first meal at this restaurant, I simply couldn't think of anything other than the traditional white chicken. For the side, I chose the Smashed Cucumbers. I wanted a bit more on top of the combo plate. I hence got me the very popular Mac and Cheese. At that moment I simply couldn't wait to go home and experience my very first chicken from Chook. Chook does know how to perfectly cook chicken. The meat was well seasoned and yet it wasn't salty at all. The moisture level was consistent throughout the quarter meat. The Smashed Cucumber was another bomb. It resembles the Japanese "sunomono" so it's a bit sweet with a little bit of tanginess. Perfectly smashed to the point where cucumber pieces were not too soggy. Mac and Cheese was equally delicious. Again, not salty; not too cheesy. Not that I eat a lot of mac and cheese but I may have to say that this may be one of the best Mac and Cheese I've had in the past (if it's not the best.) There are other items on the menu that simply didn't escape my notice. I will have to go back and try it at a later time. Chook is solid. It's a fast casual restaurant where you are not breaking the bank but the quality is guaranteed. There are other eateries that serve rotisserie chicken but Chook truly shook me. High quality ingredients, kind of expensive, and thoroughly average (at best) flavors. Located in a nice part of town with little to no diversity, I was hoping against hope that this would deliver something beyond generic, upper-middle class white people food (forgive my racism and stereotyping). The nice thing about a restaurant in this area is that it is presented nicely, with a high standard of cleanliness, and kind staff. The chicken is reminiscent of Costco rotisserie chicken. Flavors did not really penetrate the meat in any way, and the seasoning is quite tame. The cook on the chicken was also not great. I want the chicken skin and fat to be really roasted, and the chicken meat to be moist and tender. The chicken meat was somewhat moist, but it didn't really come apart that easily, and the skin and fat were just sad and flabby. Maybe it's not fair that I'm comparing this rotisserie chicken to my favorite rotisserie chicken of all time (shout out to Red Rock Canyon Grill in Kansas and Oklahoma), but I can't help it. The chicken comes with a couple sauces, so we went with chimichurri and piri piri. Both sauces were so bland. It was like the sauces were gentrified or something. Flavors were not loud, bright, and popping. Instead, the sauce flavors were muddled and sad and muted. The mashed potatoes were disaster. My kids did NOT enjoy it. Hardly seasoned, and almost overdone to that gummy texture. We're going to try to save it later with plenty of butter and salt, but that might not work. The Mac and cheese was good. The roasted veggies were decent. The green goddess salad was terrible. Each individual ingredient of the salad, on its own, tasted nice and fresh. But when combined with that dressing, it tasted pretty bad. Maybe it's the dressing? Or the seasoned chickpeas? Hard to say. If I were forced to eat here again, I might try Greek salad (because I don't think you can mess up Greek salad), and I would probably just get roasted veggies and mac and cheese. read more

Cut up the chicken! We had to wrestle that rascal to the table to saw off the wing and leg quarter. I know, first world problem.... But it was very tender and tasty. Also had a chop salad, mashers and gravy (Mama's) and Mac and Cheese. I've gotta say the Mac and Cheese was fabulous, especially the macaroni ... cooked perfectly. I really like it because the chicken wasn't covered in mayo like it normally is in chicken salad sandwiches and you could taste the seasonings. The chicken was very moist! I love restaurants that make it easy to order for a family dinner. This place fits that bill where can order for an individual, for two or for for a family of four. We ordered a family meal. The chicken was pretty tasty but weren't a fan of the sides we picked the slaw was very bitter and maybe just something was off with the dressing but it wasn't very appetizing and mashed potatoes were nothing special. The cleanliness of the restaurant did pass expectations & prior to getting nauseous from what was undoubtedly what I ate here, I loved it. The charred veggies I could have passed on & the breadcrumbs on the mac & cheese are personally not needed. But I loved the wrap option & the seasonings. We tried this finally and while the chicken is good, the sides are a little meh. We did a meal and you got a big bowl of mashed potatoes, but the gravy is the tiniest little thing. It was actually comical how they served it. Especially when I specifically ordered mashed potatoes and GRAVY!! Also all the sides were cold by the time they got to our table. The company I work for just had our Holiday party this last Friday. We worked with Abby and enjoyed every bit of the experience. She was very timely and responsive as well as was able to work with a switch we added a few days earlier to bump our pick up time. I wish I had photos of the food but sadly the crew ate it all too quickly. The meal included chicken, salad, mixed veggies, mac and cheese, salad and a mix of sauces. We did an extra tray of Mac and cheese and a dessert tray add-on. (Do not skip the desserts... ABSOLUELTY AMAZING, my favorite is the s'mores). Decided on ordering Chook for family celebration dinner. Very pleased with everything I ordered via online the family meal in hopes of being able to feed 6. Pleasantly surprised two chickens, two salads, two cucumbers, two mixed veggies, two potato wedges, two rolls and coleslaw! Asked for any gluten, dairy or egg to please be put aside due to allergies and they went above and beyond with making sure the order was complete and easy to separate different items. Loved our lunch at Chook! The chicken here is always consistently good, and I love the mashed potatoes and sauces they have. I don't think the mashed potatoes are real potatoes however, because they didn't reheat like real potato mashed potatoes should. Also the rolls were just meh, and the green goddess salad was also just ok. Most things are great here but some of the sides don't hold up. A fantastic place to grab great chicken and home-cooked food! Never in my life have I craved chicken the way I crave Chook. This chicken is seriously some of the best chicken I've ever had in my life, it reminds me of a German rotisserie chicken during Oktoberfest. It is seasoned to perfection, and I like that you can order dark or white meat upon ordering. The times I've been here I've ordered the same thing which is dark meat chicken, the potato wedges, and a Greek salad. This combination is stellar! Also, a sidenote, their ranch is some of the best ranch sauce I've ever had! The prices are also fair, for example, you can get a dinner for two with chicken, two sides, and a salad for around $32. The ambience inside of Chuck is a relaxed one. I ordered a set of chicken sliders (three come in an order) and I opted for one of each sauce: spicy, savory BBQ and gravy. The gravy was unique and left me going back for more! I also tried the Mac n cheese and smashed cucumbers. Served with feta, avocado, mint, toasted cashews, red onion and vinaigrette I've been dreaming about the cucumbers ever since I visited -- a must try! I have to admit I was skeptical about this place... but they really blew me away with the flavors of not just the chicken but all the sides. They're located in the Trader Joe's parking lot nearest the juice place. Hubby and I decided to do takeout and we ordered while we shopped at TJ's next door. It said 25min on a Friday night and we got a text at 26min! Then we ate in the following weekend and it was just as delicious the second time. We ordered the chook for two which comes with a half chicken (white and dark) and then two shareable size sides and a small salad. Both times we got the wedges, and smashed cucumber and then got the carrot salad. When I tell you the smashed cucumbers and the carrot salad were incredible... could have eaten just these and been amazed but then I tasted the wedges and the chicken. Hubs also raved about the corn! They let you choose sauces and they gave us an extra one as well as a gift of their chicken noodle soup which was smoky and packed with veggies and chicken. The piri sauce and the chimichurri are incredible. Overall we were both super impressed with Chook because of the high quality of the food and the variety of sides and sauces will keep us coming back (probably sooner than we'll likely admit- update we lasted a week) Staff were super nice and the food came out quickly when we ate in. The presentation was great and they checked on us and offered to grab us any extras we needed. Looks like they even have alcoholic drinks too! Went here for lunch after seeing it one day. The inside was very modern and clean looking. You could even see them cooking the chicken in front of you too. I got the chicken BLAT ($11.25) and also the chicken sliders ($10.95). The sliders were good. Not sure if I would get it again though. The chicken BLAT had good flavor but it was on the salty side. We also got a small side of chook chips which was flavored with their chicken salt. Not my favorite either and they were also on the salty side. He agreed it wasn't cooked and said he would refund my order. He never apologized and didn't refund us. A few days later I called the original location in Platte Park and told the manager there what had happened. He said I would be hearing from general management probably in a couple hours but definitely within a few days... never happened. I would not recommend eating here! read more

If you're looking for a good home style meal, Chook is pretty good. It's not my favorite, but I can see why people like it. Docking a star because the pulled chicken sliders were soggy when paired with the spicy sauce. I'd recommend sticking with their rotisserie plate and potatoes. read more
