We booked a Bayview site, which was described as on somewhat of a bluff, with amazing views of the bay, the bay bridge, and in the distance, the beautiful Pacific Ocean. I'll include a photo of our non-view of anything except overgrown bushes. As I walked around the campground, I noticed that there are very few sites that allow for any kind of privacy. Waldport/Newport KOA - Waldport, OR July 29-30, 2025 This KOA is just north of the Alsea Bridge crossing the wide mouth of the Alsea River. Staff were friendly and checkin was simple. We drove to our back-in site and got situated. Our site was supposedly a "Bayview" site. However our site had 8 foot tall bushes and trees behind it that blocked the view. We mentioned that to one of the grounds keepers. Big mistake on our part. For the next two days there was constant gas powered equipment cutting away at the shrubbery outside our camp. They didn't let up until 6:30 pm each day, so there was really no good time to sit outside to enjoy a beverage with no view. Since campers must check out at 11 am and new arrivals can't check in until 2 pm, I suggest they do campsite management between those hours, or other times when those campsites aren't occupied. We could see the view of the Alsea Bridge from our next-door neighbor's site, and I will say the view of the bridge is remarkable. read more

I almost didn't want to leave a review so this can stay a hidden gem but you know what...this was incredible! The staff needs to know that they exceeded expectations and the location between Waldport and Newport is perfection. The rec room is a treat, the view is a treat and the trail is a REAL treat! we like the spot we were in , the hedges are nice for the privacy. all the hook ups are easy to get to, the grounds are kept really clean, we have a 40 foot fifth wheel and a 32 foot semi, and we were able to get in and set up ok, and get back out, we were very close to the beach and saw a lot of wild life, the people at the KOA are very nice, easy to get rid of the garbage the cans are huge, and over flow parking was easy to get to, they had doggie bags and garbage cans every where for the dog droppings, very nice KOA park well worth coming back too. Great location on the Oregon coast. Beautiful view from small back-in site #22 --- it was perfect and I'm so glad we got that space! We enjoyed the busy Newport area harbor and also the charming smaller town of Yachets which are both close by in opposite directions from this KOA. The KOA itself is a-ok but it's the location that we were going for, so honestly my rating is mostly for the proximity to other interesting things to do. Price per night was reasonable, spaces are close to each other, the driveway is narrow for bigger rigs but we enjoyed our 2 night stay. Ease of booking online at any KOA is a huge plus! Nice gift shop on site. We used no amenities due to COVID restrictions. read more

Maybe our stay was a fluke. But you can't get over the super narrow spaces for the back in sites. Be prepared for loud maintenance noises every morning, so don't plan on sleeping in. The staff was pretty rude. I was accosted in my space for allowing my small dog to do his business. She claimed that spot was someone else's. When I went to the office to check, she never apologized but did say she was mistaken. One evening I was sitting by the fire pit and got up to use the restroom. When I returned, there was a staff member waiting to tell me I can't leave fires unattended. It was like they were waiting for something. We ended up leaving a day early after all of that. If I could give 4 1/2 stars I would. We had a great time here and enjoyed the fact that the park was very quiet at night. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful as were the other guests we ran into! The only downside is being so close to the Hwy you might hear sirens as emergency services go by. We didn't mind the car traffic noise but the sirens can be a bit much! Also the spots aren't very wide but most have nice separation between them. read more

The site is nice. The hosts are not. Office randomly locked with no signage as to when available. Signage confusing re checkin. Trash and recycling overflowing and when it did get picked up the trash left on the ground was left there for days, attracting birds and critters to feed on. When we did get someone in the office and asked about propane, they were disinterested and said maybe they would do it later, but we should just plan on going back into Newport to get propane. Most of the bathrooms and showers were locked and the one I got to use really needs updating as there is pieces of flooring missing and a trip hazard. The water was warm but never got hot. Pretty views, nice landscaping. Forget about hospitality. read more

This is such a nice place! The staff is very friendly and the grounds are nice and clean. The views are beautiful! We had a lot of fun taking the trail down to the bay at low tide and felt safer exploring with our 2 young kiddos there as opposed to out by the ocean where there were warnings for sneaker waves all weekend. BEWARE of FALSE ADVISING: If you plan on renting a cabin at this location be extremely careful. The website is very misleading. The website shows a nice cabin with a full refrigerator and a table with chairs. That is not the cabin you are renting. The cabin you are renting is a small one room cabin. Extremely disappointing for this organization. Indicates corporate disconnect.I reviewed this with the person in charge but they did nothing about it. I have not received any communication from their home office. I really expected more from a KOA location. Do not step here. read more

I would give it one star for my site. If you get a site that faces the ocean or you get a pull through they're , not bad. But my site has no protection against the sun, the electricity is on the wrong side of my van, I back up to another RV so there's absolutely no privacy. It's extremely expensive from my point of you because it's double what you pay at a state campground. I will never go to a KOA again if I can avoid it. And they don't really apologize or treat me in a way that made me feel OK about it. They just hear me out and that's it. And I usually don't complain. Or write these kind of notes but I'm really angry. So definitely don't get 64 or 65. read more

I am feeling upset. I was denied accommodation at the KOA campground in Waldport OR, because our dogs look too much like a Pitbull. I had reservations for a few months for this event to spend time with all my family for my mom's birthday. When checking in they asked what breed my dogs were and i told them that i wasn't sure. I kept telling her that I'm not sure because I got them at the shelter and that they are both considered mixed breed on their vet paperwork. She kept pushing me to come up with an actual mixed breed, so I was way too truthfully and said that rowdy has some American Staffordshire terrier, but not sure the whole mix. They came out and looked at them and said "nope, we will not be able to accommodate your stay with us, they are on the list of breeds not allowed". read more

Very beautiful little spot with great views from some sites. Clean bathrooms, friendly people working their, and they have nice sized trailer spots. They have hedges that separate the campsites for privacy. The store is well stocked from food, clothing, games and souvenirs. They have RV replacement hoses and other parts. They have camp gear and ice cream. Pretty much everything you could need. I will definitely stay there again. read more

We made our reservation 5 months in advance. When arriving I was not told our site location until after paying, etc. The site we were assigned #49 was next to the playground, trash bins, 4 street corners, and our rv was 7 feet away from the laundry entrance. When I asked if we could be reassigned, the answer was NO....We are full. This site should be used for overflow or a last minute reservation, not when a reservation was made 5 months in advance. We would not have stayed here had we known where we would have been stuck. read more

We made reservations at this campground months before we went. We were going to celebrate my 60th birthday. We rented four campsites and one cabin. We arrived at various times throughout the day with us (me and my husband) last. By the time we got there they had already told my daughter they would not honor her reservation because of her dog. They deemed her dog, who is scared oh his own shadow, an agressive breed. He is a mixed breed with very little pitbull on him. He is a big dog, but the furthest thing from aggressive. When she told him initially he was a mixed breed they basically grilled her until she said American Staffordshire. They refused to budge despite any assurances we gave them. They kept saying it was on the website and she should have read the fine print. She actually talked to someone on the phone and when they asked about the dogs, there was no problem. After driving five hours, it became a problem. So they turned her away and then told us she would not be allowed to visit the campground because it was for registered guests only! So, she wouldn't be able to come hang out. BTW, they found another campground that had no problem accepting the dog; and guess what, the dog was not a problem! My son was able to convince them to let her come and visit. Mind you, she had to come without her wife who stayed back to watch the dogs while she was with us. It definitely ruined our weekend! We noticed many things about this campground while we were there. There were signs posted EVERYWHERE, telling you what not to do. Golf charts with staff constantly going around watching what was going on. They seemed to be watching us a lot. They did come and tell us a little after 10pm to turn the music off which we did. One night, my granddaughters were walking around and one of the staff followed them to our campsite. The 10 year old was sobbing by the time she got to us because he had turned to follow them, not saying a word, and she was sure she was going to be attacked. Camping is something we have done with our family for decades. We have stayed at KOA's and have always had a positive experience. We respect the property, we are loud sometimes but when reminded, we quiet down. We pick up after our dogs and make sure the campsite is clean when we leave. This campground made me feel tense and anxious all weekend. I could go on and on, but I think you get the picture. If I could give zero stars I would. The view from our campsite was beautiful but I would give that up in a minute to feel hospitality. For people in a hospitality business this was the most inhospitable place I have been. If you have a dog, especially a mixed breed, make sure you bring the genetics of the dog. They will deny you entry if they deem the dog is a dangerous breed. They will tell you it is because of insurance and policy. But I beg to differ...BTW, there were dogs there much bigger and smaller dogs that made more noise than he would have ever made. What a beautiful & quiet campground! The Alsea bay & bridge provide a wonderful view. It's a 1 mile walk into town. From the bridge seals & the occasional Seal lion can be seen playing in the water or sunning on the sand The bathroom/shower areas are kept very clean, as is the laundry. while it looks beautiful, we wouldnt know how great the staff treats their visitors, as when we arrived they insisted we leave because of an agressive dog breed? how would you know what my dog was like if we had just arrived and the dog was in the front seat of the motorhome , never barked or anything, but i assume because they could tell he was a pitbull , we were asked to leave!! complete BS drove over from crescent city , and had to turn right around and head back home ! sure they refunded me for my reservation cost, but what about our plans , time & fuel? this looks like it isnt the first time anyone was refused for type of dog they have now that im looking in to it read more

We keep a record of ALL phone messages and are meticulous on returning phone calls, sending emails in response. We had no record of a call from this family. There was barely anyone ever at the office. When I would get ahold of them to fill ask about propane within 10 minutes the guy was gone again... Later when I finally got ahold of them at 1:05, he says he can't help as he's leaving in 5 minutes when they are suppose to be open till 2PM. So horrible experience, very little to no accommodations to anyone who's there. Perhaps this is just this employee that they put in charge, but horrible experience that I just can't get over. We were even hit with a bad storm, lost power but again no one to contact us or anything! read more

We came in with our EV as we were stuck between chargers with 2% batter and couldn't go any further. We asked if they could simply use a wall outlet for less than an hour just to get to a level 2 charger. The lady at the front call in the handyman guy and had to explain the situation again with me having 2 small kids and my wife needing a small charge. The guy gave us a walk around and but we're happy to finally get a wall outlet on the side. We charged for about 30 minutes picking up 1% battery which is all we needed. The 1 star comes as I approach the front office and ask the front desk lady thank you and that we were good. She asked that we pay $10 for 30 minutes of charge that probably cost them $.30. She proceeded to call it a favor, but at that point it was taking advantage of our situation for almost no benefit. Shame on them. read more

I learned a couple years ago that I can count on KOA for tidy cabins -- so, despite wanting to go farther, I decided to give up fighting the pre-sunset wind and pulled over on my motorcycle to check on availability. The first person to greet me was a very large ginger tomcat named Gary - my new BFF!! The rates were reasonable, the cabin was clean and there was even a TV! I didn't experience much noise from the road as my cabin was set back a bit. The bathrooms are individual shower rooms -- not at all cramped, and generally pretty clean for a campground. The on-site mini market had some excellent beers, snacks and souvenirs. Overall, I'd say this is probably the best overnight accommodation deal in this somewhat overpriced area and will happily return (with treats for Gary!). read more

This is an underwhelming RV campground. The WiFi is virtually nonexistent ... I'm using my iPhone as a hotspot to write this review since I can't log onto to either of WiFi ports. Cable channels are very limited, so be prepared for lots of DVDs or some book reading. The shower/bathrooms should have been worked on during the winter. They are in sad shape and need to have exhaust fans to evacuate the shower steam and toilet odors. The laundry facility has good commercial equipment, and other than needing a thorough cleaning ... it is acceptable. We are dissatisfied enough that we will be leaving early for another RV park ... and when we return to the Newport/Waldport on the Oregon coast ... we won't be staying here. read more

We were there for our 35th Wedding Anniversary which also was the Solar Eclipse weekend and as usual it was a relaxing stay. The park is probably the cleanest we've ever stayed even the bathrooms & showers, it has a laundry room & a super fun playground with activities for families,singles & children to do. A beautiful view of the Waldport bridge along with a short walk into town. My dogs are even welcome. The owners are genuinely kind, caring people and that goes for the employed staff as well. My favorite thing about the place is you feel so welcome your first time there and each time you return they remember you & genuinely are happy to see you ragain! read more

Friendly staff, plenty of parking for my 39' fifthwheel and gorgeous views! Facility is well kept and clean and did I mention the views? Amazing ha ha ha. Quite location away from main highway along with top notch facility make this one of my favorite KOA spots we have been to! Would definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone! Honestly one of he best rving spots I've been to on my trip in Oregon. 10/10 would recommend to ANYONE! I can understand some of the people complaints about small spots being close to your neighbor but that comes any rv park anymore, also gives you more reason to mingle and meet other rv'ers. read more

I would give negative stars if i could. We made reservations for our trailer. They asked how long our trailer was and we told them 25 feet long. We arrived to a full campground and 1 spot left that our trailer would not fit in. No trailer would fit there. They immediately refunded all of our funds no questions asked which makes me believe they knew that spot is crap. The picnic table was also right by the sewer lines for the other trailers. How is that sanitary and legal? The park is very small and cramped. You are packed in like sardines. I will never stay at KOA's again. Our Labor Day camping trip is ruined and we have to go home. So angry with this outfit. Corporate will be hearing from me and I am canceling my membership. read more

Even if you have a reservation, you are taking you chances if you show up with dogs. Here's what happened to us this summer: My husband and I travel for 3 weeks with our two dogs in a pop up trailer each summer. We are in our 60's and 70's. Over the past few years a number of KOA's made an effort to find us space in their campgrounds at the last minute so this year we bought a membership and made reservations in a number of places in California, Oregon and Washington prior to leaving home. One evening after 7, we arrived at at this KOA. They demanded to know the breed of our dogs. In all of the years we have been traveling with dogs, we had never been asked this question. Our dogs come from the animal shelter so we really don't know their breed so I said something like their mixed breeds. At that point they demanded to see the dogs if we were going to stay there. I was feeling a bit panicky but headed out to the car with the woman where she declared they were pit bulls, which they are not! One has some pit bull in her and the other is some kind of lab mix. She really had no idea what she was talking about and was such a cold and uncaring type of person she turned on her heel and as she walked away said "we'll send you a refund". At this point we were in a panic. Its summer, its after 7, we're seniors and we have no idea where we are going to sleep for the night, and we've been traveling all day to get there. We finally found an opening at an Oregon state park after 9 which was a miracle. Our back up plan was to stay in the Walmart parking lot with no water and no bathroom facilities. That would have been an experience. Long story short, KOA is not reliable! read more

The location is right off the highway so it stays noisy throughout the night. The bathrooms were gross, tightly cramped and dirty. We rented one of their cabins which was the best part about our stay, it was clean and cozy and it even had a TV and a mini frige so we were hardly roughing it. read more

We were happy to find this cute KOA. It was clean and we had plenty of space equipped with a picnic table. The kids played on the playground and we used their small but clean laundry room. Dogs are welcomed. We walked across the bridge and played on the beach and watched the sea lions and searched for crabs. Then we walked into town and had pizza for dinner. We towed an R-Pod 179 into the campground and were assigned by reservation to a space large enough for us, but the folks who arrived behind us to share the back-to-back space had very little space with which to work. There were no vacancies as the weekend developed and my wife compared the campground to a parking lot. On the positive side, we enjoyed a quiet weekend. The restrooms & showers, as well as the parking places, were very well maintained. Dogs were permitted and our dogs travel well. I'd say this is a good choice for a young family because there's a small playground and a gameroom. Prices on supplies, souvenirs and goodies (e.g., ice cream, candy, etc.) were high, but we arrived well supplied and relatively self-sufficient. Scenery within walking​ distance was Alsea Bay and there are trails to the river as well as the Alsea Bay Bridge that provide photo opportunities of harbor seals and birds. Most of the staff was in good humor and a pleasure to interact with on the busy weekend. Check-out time is 11 o'clock and we were well on our way by that time. The area was well maintained and we enjoyed a quiet, peaceful night of sleep. read more

Apparently, I'm a camping snob. I'm from Oregon and like camping in the woods so camping at a KOA was definitely a new experience. If I were an inexperienced camper, I might enjoy the showers, washing machines, and lack of woods. KOA is nice for people traveling across the country and need a nice "campy" place to stay, but if you're hoping for a real Oregon adventure, I'd suggest going all out and camping in the woods somewhere. read more

The facility is small, Laundry facilities are old and not well kept, WI FI is horrible,RV spaces do not offer much privacy and the view of the bay is limited unless you have a spot on the cliff. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and their store has a good selection of items. This place is fine if you are looking for a quick overnight stay but I would look elsewhere if you are looking for nicer facilities. read more

Really tight park but spectacular view, accessible dog friendly beach. If you don't go for the full ocean view I do t think it's worthwhile. Unfortunately, they gave us a ridiculously small slip given our 28 ft TT and truck. My husband tucked his truck as close as possible but was still hanging in the road and there's nowhere else nearby to park. They had larger spots with tiny little things in them, and we'd booked 6 months prior. I think they need to look at what's coming in with that weeks reservations, and plan accordingly. A grumpy employee abruptly ordered my husband to move...but to where?! Nevertheless, I will give 4 stars for the view and the beach. read more
