Our site, number 24, is right at the beginning of a path leading to the water. There is a mowed area to walk and benches that are very inviting. We initially were planning on staying for one night but we are staying for since we love it so much. This is by far one of the sweetest places that we've ever stayed. Very friendly people and a real hidden gem. 8-19. Stayed again for three nights and easily could have stayed much longer. What a special place.a y people have dogs and there are places for them to play. Always friendly wonderful people

The owners are great dog lovers and they will do anything to make you and your pets feel welcome. The park is small with excellent amenities, washer/dryer room, full hook ups, cable tv, and the wifi is free and excellent strength. I know this really is exceptional. Most parks will tell you they have free wifi but most are hardly usable and have the pace of a 2400 baud modem in the '90's. It is not really a park for those with kids, there are no kids amenities like play grounds and they are not allowed in the river. We especially picked Chinook RV because it breathes the simplicity that we like and that makes us feel relaxed. The proximity to the river is awesome. The dog off leash area is also located at the river and they have a HUGE field to run and play in and get their paws wet in the river. I am a wheelchair user and Chinook RV Park is very accessible to me. I can accompany the dogs easily to the off-leash area in my wheelchair and can even drive around on the field and getting close to the water. This depends on the tide of course, if it has been high tide the grounds can be wet on some places and you will soon get to know those areas and know you have to avoid them in order to not get stuck. We were parked at space nr: 16, all spaces are wide and large. Our 5th wheeler is 42 ft long and we had no problem fitting in. The cute small seaside town of Waldport is a 3 minute ride away. There are a couple of accessible beaches where you can get access with a wheelchair and sit at the entrance to the beach. I can highly recommend Ona Park which has a lovely bridge over the slough and lots of places to sit and watch the dogs run on the beach. Patterson State Park is our absolute favorite, it has a paved sloped path to the beach. I park at the end of the path and watch the dogs play. Patterson State Beach has a small stream of non-salty water the the dogs love and will lie in to cool off. if you do not want to go down the sloped path you can sit up the hill, there are benches where you can watch those on the beach and it has stunning views over the sea. Waldport has a good variety of small shops, an excellent grocery, pharmacy, drug store, hardware store, candy store and don't forget the antique stores. On Thursdays and Saturdays the Pacific Dough Company, a bakery with the yummiest breads, tarts and pastries is open to the public. You have to try their Raspberry tarts they are to die for. On wednesday there is a small farmers market where you can buy all kinds of fresh produce and of course some art products. For breakfast and lunch/dinner I can highly recommend Jamie's Dockside Diner. A little bit further up the Alsea River Jamie has her diner on the dock on the river and serves the tastiest food ever. Take your time and lounge outside on the dock while enjoying your food. Chinook RV Park is conveniently located to all these great 'things to do'. This park management is of the highest standard that we ever experienced. They made us feel right at home and we are sorry we have to pack up and go. We certainly will be back!!

It is way off of 101, so no highway noise. It is close enough to Haceta Beach you can hear the ocean at night. And, it is not too far to walk to beach access. The bathrooms are always clean and I have never had hot water problems when showering. Unfortunately, this stay the digital TV channels were not available (i.e. all network/ local channels). I thought it was my TV and spent quite some time troubleshooting. Those in the office had a sheet to hand out to people with "cable problems." Finally, I asked them to pull up the TV in the office. They had the same problem but could only tell me they would report it to the owners. For all I know, they canceled their digital service. As for WiFi, like at many parks, it is hot and miss. It dropped twice while typing this review. Cell coverage is terrible here, so WiFi is important to me. If cable and WiFi are no big deal to you, then this could be 5 stars. I like having them so I give 4.

It may be great for those who want to get away from the busy life but we wanted to be closer to town. I think the bumpy road would be too difficult with an RV! Looks like they are doing road construction so it may get better. 3 stars because it is off the road to Haceta Beach. I had no internet at the park so I checked in on the road to it.

Yes, this park does have a few full -time RV sites, which is not an issue. We've always booked a waterfront, back in site for our stays. The view of Alsea Bay is worth it and we can watch the tides go in and out, as well as watching crabbers coming in with their haul. (They offer boat and equipment rentals for crabbing.) There is a large field on the east side of the property for dry camping and waterfront tent camping. There you'll find a beach volleyball court, a tetherball and a basketball hoop as well. I love the abundance of birds and wildlife in this area. There is a fabulous little Bakery within walking distance of this park; "Pacific Sourdough," positively worth visiting. Great location - within walking distance to the beach, downtown and the bridge.

It's the customer service that could use some help. Family has always been booked on sites with full hookups, nice paved spaces. This year another family member traveled from the East coast to join in as they prefer west coast crabs. Going to check in, they were told they'd been booked in the overflow area, gravel, no hook ups. No apology, instead got major attitude from woman who's comment was"oh you've stayed out there before" - wrong & then a shrug with "You should have checked your confirmation " My family (mom, dad, aunt & uncle) are in their late 70's. Uncle a disabled vet. Having a flat, paved space with hookups would have been nice. If she'd have looked back at her records, she could have seen they'd never been in the overflow area. They'll be lucky if my family comes back. Again, great campground, but do check your confirmations (these were reserved back in April) and to be treated so rudely (this isn't the first time she's been rude) this was just the icing on the cake so to speak & thus the 2 star rating. The gentleman that works there knows my family & was apologetic, he's a great guy - just beware of the woman.
