This is my preferred Walgreens. I used the pharmacy and frequent the make out aisle. The cosmetics department is normally stoked with quite a few options of those of browner skin tones. There's a clearance section in the back of the store, near the pharmacy. I've found plenty of candy, medications, vitamins and cosmetics on sale in that section. read more

This review is only for the pharmacy. Since the demise of Rite-Aid, this place has become a nightmare. About the only time you're not standing 4, 5 or 6 in line is on Saturday when the Jewish population in the area is observing the Sabbath. Even then, there seems to be only one woman behind the counter who moves like she's actually trying to get people in, out and on their way. The drive-through? Get in line, shut your vehicle off to save gas but keep the radio on to take your mind off the fact that you've been sitting in the same spot for 15-20 minutes. Considering the prices in the store, I can't imagine they can't hire at least one more person to open the second register that's frequently sitting there doing nothing. I'm thinking a drive to CVS on Falls Road or Liberty Road is going to have to be the way to go from now on. read more

Just stopped in because I happened to be in the area. The neighbors that was with me needed to pick up some sodas and they happen to have buy two cases and you get one free. I decided to go down the holiday aisle and they had some left over Christmas items that were 4/.50 or .13 cents each so I picked up a few things. The cashier was patient and friendly. Unfortunately the staff who answer the back pharmacy phone are NASTY & MEAN every single time. Its clear these people absolutely HATE their job. ZERO customer service or curtesy. Every time I go ok to this Walgreens for my daughters medicine they NEVER have it ready! The store is clean, has a huge selection, but is WAY overpriced. $9 for a stick of deodorant is a bit much. The staff is pretty rude, and every time I've been there, the line is very long at the register. Love the place - almost everything is perfect. BUT pharmacy lines are incredible all the time!!!! Like there is 7 people behind me and don't know how many in drive through, but only ONE person working. Like, seriously??!!?!!?!??!? This place is very busy and people are pissed at workers because of the delays, when it's not their fault, people just don't have anybody else there to yell at. Many good workers left and employees are changed very often, because 3 workers can not possibly serve so many people in a satisfying manner no matter how hard they try!!!!! Get ready to wait, wait, wait, and then wait some more. The slowest pharmacy service I've ever experienced. No matter if you call ahead to put in the Rx order, no matter if you call ahead to make sure the Rx is ready, no matter if you pay ahead of time. The customer service at this particular pharmacy is absolutely appalling. Honestly, take the extra 5 minute drive around the corner to the Rite-Aid for any of your prescription needs - it'll be well-worth it. You will never make it in and out of this place in less than 30 mins, even having already called in your order. This includes physically walking up to the window and even going through the drive through; actually I think the latter might actually take longer. And it's regardless of the number of people working or of other customers. You are at the mercy of the people working there and they have no respect for your time...or privacy. I actually had an instance where the tech yelled out to me "But you don't have insurance, right?" First off, whether I go through my insurance or not for my prescriptions is my business only. The pharmacy is disorganized and has poor service. I gave my prescription and insurance info to the pharmacy on Sunday and asked to pick it up on Wednesday. Come Wednesday they completely lost my prescription and told me they would call my doctor the next day. I call them Thursday evening and they tell me they do not accept my insurance and I could just take my script back. So I go back to Walgreens and they try to charge me full price for my prescription and took another 5 minutes to re-find my script. Too much hassle. Slow and disorganized pharmacy. Pharmacist had made it such an unpleasant experience with handling my prescriptions. I use Express Scripts (Mail Order) for my prescriptions, but it's not always perfect when getting consent from the doctor. So, I'll have my doctor write out two prescriptions (one for 30 and one more 60 because Express scripts charges the same amount) and hand the 30 day supply to the Walgreens. While the pharmacist refuses to do it, and gets snobby with me, he finally says, okay, but we'll need to contact the doctor (even though he has the prescription in front of him). After waiting an entire week, waiting desperately on a low supply, the pharmacist had the nerve to say, "Oh, well your insurance won't cover this." What's even more frustrating is they will sit on a simple $2 medicine order for an entire week. Really? Also, it would make my dreadful experience with the pharmacy, somewhat better if the pharmacist can introduce some hospitality to the people waiting in line. As for the cashiers, no problem at all! (I wish there was individual ratings for each department, so please don't assume the 2 stars is for the cashiers. The cashiers have all been very warming with a smile on their face, like they're proud to come into work today. This is by far THE worst pharmacy you will ever use in your life. The management is terrible and the employees really just wander around hoping to hit the right spot where your prescription might be. Every prescription I have had filled there there was a problem. They always seem to say with confidence that the prescription I just handed them is not covered by my insurance. I have very good insurance. Look again. Back to square one again and then yes my insurance company does take it. How long? Oh about 15 minutes. It's realistically at least one hour. The pharmacist herself is extremely rude. She is beyond disorganized. When you ask for a status after a reasonable amount of wait time she will act like she doesn't see you at the consultation window. Don't try to call either. You will not get through and even if you did your question would be not be answered or disputed. Avoid this place like the plague. They also routinely short your tablets or pills. This has happened at least 3x. Find someplace else. This is not it. read more

In need of some shampoo, I walked to the closest store, which happened to be a Walgreens (a relatively new location in the Quarry Lane Shopping Center). There were a number of shampoos that appeared to be on sale, so I found one I liked, picked up a couple of other items, and headed for the cashier. To my dismay, the shampoo was listed as normal price - no sale price. I went back and checked and low and behold, a yellow sticker advertising a bottle of Aussie shampoo for $2.99 was clearly displayed. When a Walgreens associate was called to the front register for a price check, she informed us (the front clerk and myself) that that sale price went into effect tomorrow (Sunday). I asked the front clerk if it was typical that sale prices were advertised in advance on the shelves, even though they technically didn't apply. Her response was, "They put up the sale stickers the day before." Having worked at a Rite Aid in California for a couple years many years ago, I remembered that we didn't display the sale prices on the shelves until the night before (after the store closed, so that first thing the next day, sales were accurately displayed). So back to Walgreens: I went back to the shelf myself to examine the sale tag more carefully. Yes, in TINY writing, was the display "Valid 10/10/10 - 10/16/10" which tells me 2 things: 1) I was scammed by totally false advertising (part of why I chose that shampoo was because it was on sale for nearly half the price) and 2) apparently no shampoos of any kind were on sale on Saturday (all of the other "sale tags" were valid for the same time frame). What store only runs sales 6 days a week? And if you're the unfortunate soul that runs out of shampoo on a Saturday, you have no sale options if you head to Walgreens. Frankly, that's bullshit (pardon my language). Sales at pharmacies should run 7 days a week, with Sundays being the day to initiate new sale items. And while they are free to advertise sale items in the circular available upon entering the store, they shouldn't be prominently displayed on shelves unless they're actually active. I usually don't go to Walgreens simply because there's generally a CVS or Rite Aid closer to where I am. But, if this is anything like how all Walgreens are run, I'm no longer a return customer. read more

The parent company should pay for more staff, they are running it on a shoe string, I assume they feel they have a captive clientele due to the older people who live at Quarry Lakes and the nearby MD offices. The pharmacists are working like crazy, it's not their fault. As a physician, I think errors will be inevitable under these conditions and am careful to check the RX's. The wait time is ridiculously long, both in the store or at the drive through window. I try to avoid this store, and only use them when I have to because they are convenient to where I live. Also, I will give one star because there is one young African American pharmacy tech who is so friendly and pleasant, despite the stress, he should be paid double! read more

I've personally observed three staffers continue wandering around or stocking shelved while customers take one look at the line 9 deep and walk out. This isn't isolated. This is the WORST Walgreens when it comes to costumer service. Flora, one of the pharmacists, always has an attitude and can be seen hiding behind the computer the majority of the time. Whether you are coming through the pharmacy drive-through, or waiting in line inside, there's always an issue as far as wait time, and genuine courtesy. Timing for prescriptions should be at the upmost importance, but make sure you disregard any text that you might receive saying that your prescription is finished and ready to pick up, because 85% - 90% of the time it is NOT ready to pick up. I am not one to usually write reviews, but I am absolutely beyond frustrated and angered by the lack of common sense that this pharmacy has, and how they don't view being considerate as an important aspect of being a pharmacy. In addition, if you are just shopping inside of the store, there are rarely any sales people around. Jonathan, one of the cashiers, is the slowest of them all, and makes conversation that is so obviously unwanted by customers. He is a nice human being, but no one in line is trying to make small talk, they are trying to get in and out as fast as possible... so put our stuff in the bag, let us pay and let us leave. The main point is that this Walgreens needs to take into account that honesty is seriously the best policy. If you're honest with your customers, even if they don't like it, at least you know that you did something right. However, telling your customers the prescriptions will be ready, or that the line will be moving fast soon, only infuriates us more because you are down right lying. read more

I'd been meaning to change over to another pharmacy for ages, and I think this month I'll finally do it, hassle that it is. The pharmacy seems to be understaffed, and many of the employees there do not seem to be trained in basic customer service. I rarely receive a notification when my prescription is delayed, or I get an automated notification AFTER I call to see if it's ready when it's been a few days. A lot of them don't understand that customers are often playing phone tag between the pharmacy and the insurance company, sometimes for a week or more, with Walgreens and the insurance company each putting blame on the other. In a nutshell, other pharmacies are better equipped to handle all the complications that can come up in Rx management. read more
