Not sure what kind of day these other people were having looking at their reviews, BUT I've lived…read morehere just over 18 months and I stop by every other day or so. I've NEVER had anything but great experiences. The service is great! They have a little bit of everything you may want to snack on, the atmosphere is and always has been friendly and inviting. I recently requested they buy a certain type adult beverage and a few days later, they were kind enough to start carrying it. Not to mention, they fly the flags of our Armed Services, even when threatened by the HOA! Keep up the good work my friends, y'all are amazing!

This is our neighborhood convenience store. My husband and I went in on Saturday to buy charcoal,…read morelighter fluid, and beer, and ended up getting very bad/rude customer service. When we sat everything up on the counter, the cashier asked to see ID. I asked if she needed to see both (he drove, so luckily I brought my wallet), and she said "I'm sure he's buying it, but since you touched the beer, I need to see yours too." We both provided our IDs. (By the way, why was she sure he was buying it? Some women are actually allowed to have their own money/make purchases for themselves these days!) I had never heard about a "touching" related rule for buying alcoholic beverages, so I asked whether it was a different law for convenience stores than it was for grocery stores, or what, and the cashier became visibly angry and would only repeat over and over that she "worked there" and refused to answer any questions, asking why I wanted to know since she was letting us buy the beer. I told her that I'm a person who is interested in learning things, but that didn't seem to help. Anyway, I don't think that "anyone who is accompanying a person buying alcohol, and who touches the drink in question, must provide valid ID" would work as a store policy. What about people who bring in their 10 year old children? If a kid helps their parent carry stuff to the register does that mean the parent can't buy alcohol? I used to shop at a grocery store in Abilene near the conservative religious university that I attended for graduate school, and I was used to both my husband and I being carded there (so if this cashier had said "yes" when I asked whether she needed to see both of our IDs, rather than giving a nonsensical explanation related to "touching," I wouldn't have pursued it any further), but that had nothing to do with whether someone "touched" the alcoholic beverage and everything to do with the fact that the store was near a college campus, and one belonging to the Church of Christ, at that. So I'm a little put off by that cashier's attitude. Before this point I'd come in a few times at the beginning of my morning commute, to buy breakfast tacos or biscuits, and they tasted okay (not great) and the two women working in the morning were quite pleasant and willing to engage in conversation. I can't say that I won't hesitate to come to this store in the future, but I'm sure I'll be back eventually. Hopefully this experience was an anomaly for one reason or another.

After my car politely informed me…read morethat I had about 30 miles before I would be searching for a gas station on foot, I made an emergency stop at Buc-ee's in Bastrop, TX. Note to self...if forced to choose between power shopping with friends and putting gas in your car, choose the gas. Everything is bigger in Texas, and Buc-ee's may be the poster child for that saying. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, the scale is impressive. Rows upon rows of gas pumps stretch across multiple sections, making it feel more like a fueling complex than a gas station. OMG!!! Step inside, and the experience gets even bigger. The place is enormous, with bright lighting, oversized signage, and enough merchandise to keep you wandering through the store for hours. Buc-ee's branding is everywhere, from water bottles and tumblers to outdoor furniture and clothing. One of the first things you'll notice is how incredibly clean everything is, especially the restrooms. My favorite feature? The red and green occupancy lights above each stall, eliminating the awkward lean-and-peek maneuver to check for availability. The food selection is a major highlight and far beyond what you'd expect from a typical travel stop. Fresh barbecue, brisket tacos, sandwiches, and the famous Beaver Nuggets are at your fingertips. There is also an astonishing selection of jerky, both packaged and freshly sliced, along with endless snacks, sweets, and drinks. And yes, they even have an in-store tortilla station. I definitely wasn't expecting that. Buc-ee's stands out for its sheer variety. Beyond the food, you'll find clothing for adults and children, swimwear, home goods, souvenirs, gifts, and enough Texas-themed merchandise to outfit an entire ranch. It feels like a travel center, gift shop, convenience store, and mini department store all rolled into one-stop shopping. Needless to say, Buc-ee's is a whole vibe. What started as a quick gas stop turned into an unexpectedly entertaining detour, and I thoroughly enjoyed my swing through.

The gas prices are lower than most, and the restrooms are clean, which are definitely positives. However, I've started to notice that food prices are getting too high for my budget. Additionally, I've observed a decline in the quality of some items they make in-store, like the BBQ sandwiches. Furthermore, this location isn't the easiest to exit if you're heading east on Highway 71. I hope they keep their prices competitive, but I'm seeing more competition around them, so I might start trying other places. Ultimately, price is the most important factor for me.

Last month- I booked an appointment at Ulta for my hair on a special day. Before scheduling online,…read moreI made sure to call and confirm that I wanted simple curls with volume at the scalp. I wasn't sure if I wanted any additional styling. Over the phone, a representative told me to book the "formal event hair" service, which costs $80. However, she assured me that if I only got curls with volume and no additional styling, I would be charged $50. She emphasized booking the formal event service to secure the stylist's time, in case I decided to add more services, but she reassured me that the price would be adjusted accordingly. Following her advice, I booked the formal event service. On the day of my appointment, I arrived with my makeup done and my hair washed. The stylist did my curls, and I decided to pin one side, but in the end, I only got curls. The entire process took just 30 minutes since I have very thin hair. I then asked if they could help me apply lashes, so I purchased a pair at Ulta. They told me it would be an additional $11 since applying lashes would be an additional service. I agreed to the charge. Once my hair and lashes were done, they handed me a ticket to take to the register for payment. I was charged the full $80 for the hair service, plus $11 for the lashes. I explained what I had been told over the phone, but the stylist advised me to speak to the cashier at the register. At the register, I explained the situation to the cashier, who then called the manager. After five minutes, the manager arrived and asked me to explain everything again. I repeated the story, but they asked if I remembered the name of the person I spoke to on the phone. Unfortunately, I did not, but I showed them my phone history as proof that I had called their number on that specific day before booking. The manager just stood in front of me, saying, Umm, umm, while speaking to someone on her walkie-talkie. At this point, I was already late for my event. I asked if they could simply adjust the price and charge me for the service I actually received. The manager responded that it was difficult and that she didn't think they could do it. Our conversation was calm and not heated, but at that point, I didn't want to ruin my mood on my special day, so I just paid and left. The frustrating part is, if they could easily charge me $11 for lash application service, why couldn't they adjust the price for the hair service I actually received? I only got curls, and my hair was done in just 30 minutes. $80 for that? Come on, Ulta. You're already overcharging by at least a dollar or more on every item you sell. You could do better but you won't!!

Tacos are $2.50 or $3.50 each, depending on the taco. The attendant who took our order translated for the cook. All the ingredients were more on the Mexican side of Tex Mex. If you ask for spicy salsa, they give you a little bit of what looks like a cool, green creamy avocado salsa. But don't get fooled by appearances. It packs a wallop! We each two tacos each and were very full. I had a mole taco and a barbacoa taco. My wife had bacon egg and cheese tacos. They were all generously filled. They're authentic enough that you really don't need to add cheese. And the bacon was the type you get at the Super Mercado, not at HEB. It's all pretty authentic, and I'm glad it's so close to home. I'm keeping my 5-star rating for this place. It's an Aim Mart now (no longer Woodies), with an Exxon out front, this Mexican place, Hunt Brothers Pizza, clean restrooms and a beer cave inside. They have nice 70% dark chocolate bars (several to choose from), and your standard convenience store items. Each has pump has a squeegee with soapy water.
