I was carrying 2 large 45 count size pads and my bag from home to put my items in. I stopped to put the bag on my shoulder adjusted how I was carrying the 2 large packages of pads. I was looking for the Dish soap aisle when an employee coming from the back of the store stopped and looked at me then went to tell the manager I was try to steal them. I found the dish soap aisle and the manager came up behind me and saw I had put the pads on the floor while I was waiting for someone to unlock the dish soap. Then security guard told me they didn't want to serve me. I told the security guard my insurance OTC pays for my pads I have no reason to steal them. Why would I steal something I don't have to pay for. Best part none if the employees in Walgreens could look me my face. Maybe the new owner of Walgreens should read this. read more

One lady had a little attitude when I ask her about the bathroom my son had to use the washroom. The other lady was nice.

They just don't have anything you need! The lines are too long and they just can't handle the numbers of patrons that use the store. This particular Walgreens has thee worse pharmacy staff ever , not only are they slow it's been days where you wait literally an hour to retrieve your medicine that's ready for pickup , not from fill to pick up but that's ready !!! I came to this location because they have some medication cheaper for my dog. This location makes its money. Staff seem pretty friendly, not the cleanest or the dirtiest Walgreens I have visited. The shelves weren't too bad. The pharmacy line stayed busy. It was like ordering at McDonald's. As long as they keep the med cheap I'll be back. read more

Unfortunately, you try to patronize stores in our community and they just fail your intentions each time. I am trying to get information on my daughter's prescription for her asthma. When I called the first time, was told "the system was downloading/updating and they could not check prescriptions, so I needed to call back in 30 minutes." I followed the directives, now I cannot get a representative to answer the phone; in the pharmacy department. It's 4:40am, if this is a 24 hour establishment, I expect someone to pick up the phone! This is inexcusable, but unfortunately not surprising! I guess I must find another pharmacy location moving forward. read more

I was told this Walgreens on 8528 S. Cottage Grove Ave had the medication I was looking for. After calling I was informed, not asked, that I would be put on hold. After the first wait, I was again informed I would be put on hold. After that I was simply placed on hold without comment seven times. Pharmacy doesn't have the most competent workers. I have had multiple issues at this location being 1.) disrespectful pharmacy workers 2.) Medication count off and 3.) inconsistent information about meds/insurance being delivered. My situation was rectified, but after the manager basically was "certain" they ALWAYS double count. Needless to say, I had to show up to get the matter handled which was a huge inconvenience. In the end, the pharmacist apologized for the inconvenience. The line and wait is also very long. Amazing that the Assistant Store Manager has no customer service. Cashiers had to page a person not once, but twice for assistance in photo. After waiting ten minutes to even be acknowledged in photo, Kennetha came and didnt even greet me. She asked for an id, gave me my package and thats it. No "thank you" or "I apologize for the wait". Wow what great service I got today from the store manager. He was dressed to the 9's except for the beard which I don't think he can grow. I think he said his name was Joshua or something don't remember. Where do I start the store was so clean and everything I needed was on the shelf. This store is the best stocked store on the south side of Chicago. I use to frequent the store about 12 blocks away by the Dam Ryan but they are usually out of what I need. From today on this store will be my Walgreens thanks to that nice little man named Josh, he said he was the store manager but I am not sure he looks really young maybe he was a stock guy. Doctor sent my prescription to this Walgreens upon my request. Upon picking up prescription that was included with this particular medication, the pharmacy tech told me that one of the medications was $200-$250 and my Insurance didn't cover it, which is Blue Cross Blue Shield HMO. And they didn't have it, it would have to be ordered.  I thought no problem. Upon calling back checking up on the prescription a week later, due to not  recieving a call to pick it up. I found out they hadn't fill it, and wasn't going to fill it because of the cost of the drug. I was told to contact my doctor and ask for a cheaper prescription drug. So you are automatically assuming that I can't afford my prescription. And why? is it because of the demographics of the area? How did you come up with the conclusion that I can't afford to pay for my medication without ever asking me? ( By the way I work) Now, had I been on the Gold Coast or maybe Downtown, I'm sure I wouldn't have been faced with this dilemma. I demanded my prescription and was told they could transfer it elsewhere. Where I intended to pay cash. Anyway after doing a little bit of research to have it transferred. I found that I could received this drug for $45 through the company. I just had to have my prescription transferred to a certain Pharmacy. That would deliver my medication to my door. It was really simple. Took a matter of minutes. Did Walgreens research and offer a suggestion or anything? No they didn't, with that said, I will not be dealing with a Walgreens Pharmacy in the hood. They could careless, make no attempts to look for lower prices for you, and automatically assume you can't afford your medications if it's a little pricey, and will not fill prescription. Had it been a very serious condition and a dire need for said medication. They'd be talking to my lawyer. I will not be using the pharmacy in walgreens, at 86th and Cottage Grove any time soon again. So glad all this happened. Because had they filled it, I would have paid the price and then found out I could've gotton it cheaper. God works in mysterious ways. Thank you Jesus. read more

Living not too far from this Walgreens, this is the one we frequent alot. There has been numerous occasions with horrible customer service at the pharmacy. Every pharmacy tech there had an attitude. We finally had to switch to the location on 87th and Stony Island because the pharmacy tech there has great customer service. PLEASE IMPROVE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

86th & Cottage Grove, Chicago IL Walgreens has been calling my number asking for the wrong person for MONTHS. I have TOLD them they have the wrong person. They then started robo calling and leaving messages for her saying her script is ready at 86th & Cottage Grove in Chicago. Isn't that a HIPPA violation??? I called them today to try to get them to take my number off of the lady who has it on her account. They gave ME a hard time. I went through 2 people and 30-45 minutes of trying to get it solved but NOPE... nothing done and her ending remark was "why don't you call back in on Monday when the Pharmacy manager will be in and maybe they can take care of it?" REALLY????? I think I've done MORE than enough to try to fix a problem that even AFTER I asked if it was a HIPPA violation they would get their behinds in gear and get it remedied. IDIOTS!! If I could give them 0 stars I would.... Second time Im being bounced back and forth for days because the pharmacy Dept need better training on how to run dual insurance..... On any other day, I love this Walgreens. I appreciate how they maintain the store and greet customers. I just came from the store just before midnight. It is the night of the Mayweather fight. As I am in line, I am pleasantly surprised to see a security guard. He walked behind the counter to do something. He seemed to be have something in his had that had his attention while he was doing something else. I observed him as I waited in line. He is not paying attention to anything in the store. He is watching something on his phone (seems to have 2 phones). His eyes or head never came up. When I exited the store he was outside. He looked like he wad watching the fight. I cannot understand how a person getting paid to provide a service cannot take it seriously. He has a gun and anyone could have taken it from him as he was fully immersed into what he was watching. I am sad to even write this because this is my Walgreens and I think the store does a good job. However i find it unacceptable that this man does not take his job serious enough.
