I walked around the entire store 3 times, went past 2 staff doing stock very silently and suspiciously (!) and never got a "hey, wassup?" "How YOU doin?", or anything. They had workout sox and travel size lotion, so I left a Happy Camper. read more

This Walgreens has constantly been a life saver during my many trips to Chicago. Located on the Mag Mile, it has provided me time and time again with the forgotten toiletries, the occasional junkie souvenir, the late night snacks, or the extra hat, gloves, and/or scarves when the weather has been worse than anticipated. Because of it's location, it is constantly busy, but this store does an excellent job of streaming through all of the customers and lookie Lou's. If you find yourself on the Mag Mile, and you've lost your chap stick, just used your last tissue, or you need a pair of gloves to go under the gloves you are already wearing on you half-frozen hands, just duck into this Walgreens and pick up what you need. read more

I'm writing this on July 29, 2017. Note the summer date. In Chicago. I went in there two nights ago for one thing. One. Fucking. Thing. Ice cream. The ice cream freezer is empty so once I find someone that actually works there and isn't goofing around with his/her co-workers, I ask about the missing ice cream. Without bothering to make eye contact, she mumbles, "Oh yeah, the freezer's broken. It's been broken for a long time." A script for just 20 pills (painkillers) was denied because the doctor did not write out TWENTY, just the number 20. Doctors do this all the time. My wife is a doctor. It is usually not ever a problem. After explaining that my wife just had TWINS and needed the pain killer to feed them, the head of the pharmacy said too bad. Then she deleted the interaction from their system right in front of me. Compassion. Professionalism. Not at this Walgreens. read more

***This Walgreens is right smack dab in the middle of Magnificent Mile; because of that, you can expect to find long lines here, but they have a lot of cashiers and a speaker system to let you know which cashier is open; many hotels are located in the immediate area so this is a very convenient spot for visitors who have forgotten something for their trip*** I am not sure what the parking situation is at this Walgreens. read more

This Walgreens is awful. Due to its location, it's always crowded, and with tourists no less so they sit and gawk and don't get out of the way. I never head to a drug store to window shop, but apparently some do... The new set-up is in large part what makes this Walgreens so awful. Without realizing it, I was in the cosmetic's check-out line which was 10 persons deep. When I finally got to the front (one very slow cashier), I asked why a store so large only had one check-out. She explained that I was in the cosmetic line, not the main line. Well, I'm no idiot; the set-up is weird and the "front" of the store with multiple cashiers is not located where I expected it to be. This location is perfect as there is not too many stores around the mag mile to purchase drugstore items from. There are a lot of souvenirs for the out of towners to choose from. Please note that this site is pretty cramped but it carries a lot of items such as candy, holiday items, makeup, hair and body items. The staff is pretty helpful with helping out if you need to locate an item. I do not purchase fruit or sandwiches as I don't like drugstore items so I couldn't tell you if they are good or not. There is liquor at this site which has helped me on the rare occasion that I'm going to Millennium Park or Northerly Island last minute and need some booze. read more

It's right on the Mag Mile and it's impressively large for a Walgreens. It has everything a normal Walgreens has, plus touristy T Shirts and some fresh food. Right on Michigan avenue, this spot gets a lot of traffic. Lines were long, unfortunately. I needed some ibuprofen though, so I stuck it out. **Seems to be a good spot for Chicago souvenirs!** They actually have a beer cave! Never seen that in a walgreens. It's usually pretty crowded since it is right on Michigan and Chicago but they always have a ton of people working the register. They have quite a selection of snacks and touristy things but my best find was that they have Mountain Dew Code Red. I've been searching for somewhere to grab a quick bottle for ages and now I have found it. Hooray! read more

This Walgreens gets crowded but it's well stocked. It's one of the only 24hr Walgreens around. If you come on the weekend you should expect a wait but it's not surprising given the location is a tourist highway. I will say the location gives the unfortunate consequence of drawing panhandlers, often right across from the front door. I've never had any issues inside the store but as soon as I exit I can expect to be asked for money. read more

I only visit this location because I live nearby; I patronize the pharmacy often, and it's decent. As others have noted, this place tends to be "tourist central"....they have an entire aisle right next to the checkout line dedicated to Chicago related t-shirts, coffee mugs, shot glasses, and other tchotchkes, which is just fine if you and the family are visiting from Tuscon, but has very little value to those repeat customers who live or work in the area. But I get it...it must be a moneymaker for them or they wouldn't have it. The cashiers at the front of the store are the ones who gave this store a 2 star rating. There are a few who are dedicated and hardworking, and their efforts are much appreciated. The majority however are rude and catty, and will make comments to their coworkers, critiquing your purchases right in front of you. I've been a customer service rep before, and I understand how difficult and thankless it can be sometimes. But if you don't want to be there, you don't have to be. Really. read more

Very close to my job. It tends to get a little packed in here. Something disappointed me one day though. I had bought a diffuser and some essential oils to go with. I went home (I live very far). I opened up the box and the diffuser looked stained by the airway. So I open it up and it was completely dirty on the inside, hairs especially. I also noticed that it didn't come with a cord to plug it in. So I had to wait for the next time I worked to return it. It disappointed me 'cause I was really excited to use it. I guess sometimes they might not check the items other people return. Kind of gross and upsetting. read more

I was here on Friday night trying to get a prescription filled. As per usual, my doctor who is a bit older wrote a 11/10/2015 and then quickly fixed it to 11/21/2015. The pharmacist knew that this was a trivial error, but instead she said it's against the law for her to fill it with any alterations. I was leaving town on Sunday morning. She insisted on calling the doctor so we did and she still said per Illinois state law, she can't fill the RX.. Then why did you have me stay here all this time? She was very rude and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and do not come here, unless you love waiting on line for a ridiculously long time. I understand I'm from NJ and not the most patient guy in the world, but this place is approaching record wait times. Part of the reason is that the place is incredibly packed, but it seems like there are a lot of people to just come here to hang out which doesn't help anything out. I was originally going to go with 1-star but I'm giving them the extra star because the place is relatively clean for being in a city. This Walgreens is as much of a Chicago landmark as Water Tower and Marina City. It's crowded, full of tourists and locals, has everything you could possibly want from bedazzled "I Heart Chicago" t-shirts to smokes, stuffed howler monkeys to snacks to flip flops, and everything in between. There's a new check out lane system, which I liked; it opened up the middle of the store so there's a lot less gridlock. And, now they sell hooch!! How can you not love this place?? read more

This review is for the pharmacy-any other business I have been to stays open until at least the closing clock time. I was at the counter at 9:00pm sharp according to my phone, and the head pharmacist said according to her wall clock it was 9:01pm so I could not be served. The other pharmacists were very available and ready to help me until she told them not to. I am not pleased, extremely inconvenienced, and will not be using this pharmacy location again. Customer service is important and the head pharmacist in charge should consider that when making judgement calls. read more

This is my least favorite Walgreens. Yeah, there are too many tourist but in this area you can't avoid them! The way they make you wait in line is a pain and usually someone cuts in front of me. One brat kid working there gave me shit for buying a pack of Camel Turkish Silvers instead of menthol cigarettes. One bitchy lady working there snagged my military ID out of my wallet because she thought my Oregon ID was fake...I was only buying a lighter. One young guy working there laughed at me for buying pain killers and lube, although I have to admit that is a funny purchase! However, I wasn't planning on using them together. Super crowded! The line blows you away at times, but luckily they're quite efficient with it and it goes fairly quickly.
