The painkiller my husband was supposed to take immediately after having a tooth extracted. Then they claimed they couldn't find the prescription so I had to call the dentist and get it resubmitted (I know for certain they had both). It took 5 hours to get the second one filled. I handed them our insurance card and they didn't apply insurance so that was a whole other deal that took 15" to pickup. Now I'm here for a prescription that I forgot to pickup 2 weeks ago. I got an automated call reminding me to pickup so here I am over an hour later still waiting on it. They can't find it, had to make a new one. Said will be 15", 45" later I'm still here. Handed insurance card when I attempted to pickup. Still didn't apply it so again they didn't apply. multiple lines and a 15" checkout process. 10/10 do NOT recommend. The prices are higher, the service stinks. Avoid at all costs. If I don't live above it I would never go back.

I would have given this place 4 stars but one thing I've noticed in the CVS in Virginia near me is there's no self check kiosks as compared to several of the DC stores. Its somewhat frustrating for me because I lost my extra care card years ago and seriously cannot recall the phone number that it was under at least the self service kiosks you can use the courtesy card so at least you can get the discounts. But that's an overall gripe amongst the various VA locations. Otherwise the staff was courteous and helpful.

Still - I tried Apple, Amazon and Best Buy first - because I think of them as more reliable (?). The pharmacists are easy to chat with, cheerful, and knowledgable. When you pick up your meds, they place it in a red striped, old-timey bag that is absolutely precious. When you walk around the store you will notice vintage signage, old-school apothecary tools, and even products on the shelves that I have not seen since I was a kid (I'm looking at you goody barrettes). This looks like the type of place where a child would grab a nickel and bike to the corner store for a can of soda pop. What a hidden gem!

The Centreville CVS pharmacy was awful; their phone number did not work -- any time I tried to call, I was on hold endlessly with no one on the other end to respond. To this day I don't know if anyone ever even answered the phone there. The people lost track of my medications twice. Once they informed me that my medication was not yet ready but I could pick them up at a certain date. Then when I went on that date, they told me I was too late and it had been ready the first time I went. Specifically, the time when I *did* go and they told me it wasn't ready yet. Someone was lying, but when I tried to find out what had happened, they tried to change the subject and imply that I'd done something wrong. One woman demanded to know if I was misusing my own prescription medication. They tried to put me on the defensive but when I ignored them and continued to ask what was going on on their end, they finally said that they had no idea and it was unreasonable for me to keep asking because they didn't have any record of their mistakes. Then they said they'd refill my medication and would call me when it was ready for pickup, some time in the next two weeks. They offered absolutely no guarantee or reassurance that the same problem wouldn't happen again, nor did they apologize or even acknowledge that anyone had done anything wrong. I was entirely fed up and told them I was changing pharmacies. The pharmacy I'm currently at has never had this problem. They fill medications at reasonable times, leave a voice message whenever they call, only call once and not three times in a row with no explanation, and answer the phone when I call them. They've also never lied to me about my medications or completely lost track of any of them. This all sounds like a pretty basic standard, but apparently some pharmacies are incapable of meeting it!
