This grocery store has somewhat better quality produce and deli products compared with other grocery stores. Their prices also reflect that. I came here today to purchase anCesar Chicken wrap at $7 which under other circumstances would cost less than $5. The quality of the wrap a slightly better here, however probably not enough to justify a $2 price increase. When I came here today it did seem like they had a few promotions for some of the summer fruit and produce that they are more than likely phasing out for the fall season. The store is definitely modern and they have a sushi section as well which is nice. Today I found the few items that I was looking for and everything went just fine. This is a review of the pizza bar at H-T Spectrum. We loved the fresh out of the oven pizza pies, until a recent change in the recipe. There's so little sauce now that it's practically white pizza...all cheese & crust. We mentioned it weeks ago to the nice people manning the pizza bar. One said they would tell management. Another said no changes could be made. It was our favorite, but since there's been no effort to add the sauce that made it such great stuff, we won't be buying it anymore. read more

This store hates customers. There's no other explanation for the parking lot arrangement - no cart returns in the entire lot, and the entire front of the store gated off so you can't even easily exit/re-enter with the cart. There's one cart ramp at the far side, so if you park in the part of the lot closer to Barnes and Noble, either you exit from the store at that far side (or walk all the way down to the bookstore, which is still way past where one would park to go to HT), take the cart ramp down, load your car with the groceries, and then go all the way back to the ramp to then put your cart back in the store. Wth?? And the divided aisles inside the store - I spent my entire time apologizing to and navigating around HT's crabby customers (probably crabby because they're doing the same, or trying to figure out how to exit with their carts) as I went from one short aisle to the next. The store has the usual good selection of items, but it's honestly not worth it to me to deal with the parking lot/cart issue when there are so many other good grocery stores around. read more

My husband and I came to get some flowers and needed a little help from the flower manager. We tried to ask her a few questions about flower arrangements while she was pretending we were not there and chatting with a colleague about trivial matters. No random acts of kindness at this store. Arrived in a panic on Thanksgiving in need of a baster after discovering mine wasn't working. Arrived 5 minutes after closing and pleaded my case as I only needed to run in and out for one item while the store was still filled with shoppers. Would have done my business way before they got the last shopper out the door. Man at the door was totally unfeeling and inflexible. Probably not equipped to make decisions or think outside the box and certainly didn't have any compassion. Went to Giant and Safeway where store clerks went out of their way to help. It's things like this that customers remember and give their loyalty to store brands. Harris Teeter showed their lack of customer care, and I will return the favor by shopping elsewhere. read more

I normally like Harris Teeter, but I started going to this location since moving to Reston recently. Almost all the produce my boyfriend and I have gotten have gone bad quickly. Plums, strawberries, avocado. We bought strawberries, and I went to eat some the next day and there was mold on one strawberry at the bottom. We exchanged it for a new one. Sometimes I will take the risk and see if I can eat any on the opposite side, but my stomach is sensitive, especially lately, so I couldn't take the risk. Going to avoid buying produce here from now on. Hopefully won't have issues with other products there. I don't recall other locations being this way? read more

Went to Reston branch this morning to get a Turkey sandwich. The server who prepared my sandwich was Sheriya. She was amazingly courteous with a very warm welcoming smile. For some reason, I have the tune to a Rent song stuck in my head: "Bustelo, Marlboro, banana by the bunch... a box of Cap'n Crunch would taste so good!" Yes, indeed, the Harry Teet offers pretty much all of the basics that one could possibly desire to fill one's larder. And belly. More importantly, the latter. The produce tends to be pretty fresh, their organic selection is solid, if limited, and prices on non-perishable goods are pretty much on par with the local Giants and Safeways, so there's not a huge necessity to stop at multiple locations to save beyond a marginal sum. I think my favorite part of this store probably has to be the seafood counter. Not only do are the folks I spoken to here forthright about which fish is a good, fresh pick, they typically offer tips on how to store and cook the stuff, too. That's probably the reason I ended up with a couple of calamari steaks, which at the time of this review are still comfortably cooling in my freezer until I get brave enough to actually do something with them. My most recent accomplishment has been steaming up some mussels in wine sauce at home. It's amazing what you can do with two pounds of mussels for six bucks(!), a cheap bottle of white wine, and some bacon and herbs. Mmmm mmMMMmmm! Maybe not quite the excessive decadence of some Belgian places, but hey - it's cheap, it makes a quick and easy meal (seriously, twenty minutes of prep and cook time in total), and leaves me with a good portion of leftover wine to get silly off of. Next time, I'm going to have to try some other kind of bread, though. The French bread from HT was a little meh. Just beware of the parking when you come here. Although it's not quite the awful Asian driver deathtrap that the Eden Center is, I've never seen this place not busy, often with soccer moms in giant vehicles and the elderly, getting their cars loaded by the HT staff. If I could give them a negative number, I would. They are the worst Pharmacy I've ever been to in the northern Virginia areas. The pharmacist is mean and unhelpful the technicians act like they don't have a clue as to what's going on. My prescriptions have been lost. My orders have not been filled on time and lately they will not answer phone calls. You're better off driving to the manufacturer. seriously, I would not recommend this pharmacy unless you are in dire straits. I've shopped at 3 different "Teets" and this one is my least favorite. Yet, I kinda feel bad for sort of hating on it because it's so close to where I live now that I can walk there. That said, the ones in Herndon and Sterling are much, much better. This particular Teet is always a zoo. Plus the layout is cockamamie. The aisles are split in half with each half having different items from the other half. I spend too much time reading signs and often missing something and having to backtrack. Add into this that it's always busy so moving around is no fun. The staff here is the least friendly of all the Teets I've been to. That's not to say that they are rude. It's just that there aren't the smiles and greeting that one expects when at the Teet, just aren't here. The friendliest people are the cashiers but they are more impersonal than in the other stores. To given an example, in the Herndon Teet, in the past, I've emailed corporate HQ to give shout-outs to 3 different employees. There is one in the Sterling location that I should do the same for but...I've procrastinated. Now, I think I should get going on that. I've yet to find anyone in the Reston location that I've felt needed a shout-out. My husband thinks that the Reston employees are probably harried all the time---and I do understand that they probably don't feel like smiling too much. We hadn't been to this Teet in years. Shortly after we moved, we drove here and were reminded of just how the parking is a mess---the lot is always just about full so getting in and out isn't always easy. Once my husband saw this and saw the zoo of the store, he said he doesn't want to come here anymore. So...I'm the one who walks over there to pick up a few items now and then. So...I will continue to go now and then simply because it's so close by. read more

I used to love shopping at Harris Teeter but ever since Kroger purchased them, prices have gone up drastically and sales are only on goods close to expiration dates. You don't really get any good deals anymore. Some prices from yesterday for example, $6 on a small bag of not terribly fresh Brussels sprouts, $7 for a small bag of clementines. Called Harris Teeter pharmacy today-September 30 2021 to confirm availability of flu shots for seniors. They confirmed that they had them. Got my 90 year old mom and 88 year old wheel chair bound dad to the car and to the store. Had to wait for handicapped parking. Understandable. Got Dad with caregiver to pharmacy at about 150PM. Mom followed with me. The lady says, the pharmacist goes to lunch for 2-230. When pressed why they don't tell customers that there are windows when shots can be delivered, the associate got rude and said "we thought you were coming right away". I have no clue what that means. If my Dad could walk and mom was younger, perhaps right away. I told her it was only 155PM and they had time to administer the shot. The response was a snotty no. Come back later. I will limit my anger and frustration with this matter in just these words. I will not use any expletives'. I will leave the language I would have used to your imagination. Absolutely the worst experience and the associate at the pharmacy needs an attitude adjustment. read more

GREEDY: the Harris Teeter Special on Thursday (excellent roastbeef and veggies for a perfect dinner) was at $10.00 before Covid. Now at $15.00. Yesterday, I was there at 5 PM and I there was already clients waiting to buy the Special. But there was no more meat. And nobody told them. When you get there at 6 PM, it is all over. People eat that for DINNER. Hellllloho. It needs to be hot. My conclusion: Harris Teeter in Reston does not want to fill its obligation to serve the Special, so it does not order enough meat and closes earlier so it does pay an employee after 4 or 5 PM. IT IS A BAD PRACTICE. I hope it will not happen again. If I can get meat after work next Thursday at 5PM, I will change my review. read more

Yesterday (June 9th), just about every bag of romaine (rusty and yellowish brown) had an expiration date of May 25 or 27th!! So I went to Giant and found fresher romaine. Not the worst Harris Teeter I've been to, but certainly not the best. Like most HT, the aisles are kept clean and the shelves stocked. I prefer to go to HT than Safeway, which says a lot about their brand since I live within walking distance to their competitor. This particular HT has good and bad qualities. The seafood/butcher section is stocked fairly well. The prices are pretty decent for the quality you get. My daughter loves coming here knowing they always have free samples out. I knock a couple stars off for the deli department. It's pretty freakin terrible, specifically the staff. Holy moly.... they're incredibly rude and they don't know how to weigh or slice their products accurately. Cheese slices are supposed to be square (at least this one was) and somehow we ended up getting the ass end of the block sliced in skinny oblong rectangles (see picture). I stumbled upon it as a recommendation from a nice employee outside whole foods at 9:45pm who bore the bad news that they closed 45 minutes ago. Damn, no Zico coconut drink for me, and no salad bar. I blame yoga for this snobbery. (Outside Whole Foods - 9:45pm) Employee: "You know they're closed right? Try Harris Teeter." Me: (bless you?) Excuse me? Employee: "Harris Teeter - it's another grocery store. Just past Best Buy". Ohhh you crazy Virginians. Did you know Harris Teeter is the official grocery store for the Red Skins? According to the huge banner on their wall it is. It is a chain also in Florida, Tennessee and other states I don't go to. The place deserves 4 solid stars. Why? Clean? ...........................Check. Has Redbox? ...............Check. Has Hummus??...........Check!!! (see previous review: Safeway) The service is great. The place is brightly lit. My only complaint is that I wish the full deli stayed open later. The deli after 10pm is limited to a couple odds and ends (like sandwiches, salads, gross sushi and other usual American grocery items), but I'm not complaining because Whole Foods closes 1 hour before that. I just really want to acknowledge the kindness I witnessed tonight while shopping here by one of the employees named Josh. While waiting to check out an older couple was having some difficulty with their payment. The man had whipped out a wad of cash as well as his card. He entered his card & I'm not sure if it didn't go through but the card payment didn't work. I overheard him say to the cashier, Josh, that his wife doesn't remember the number to the pin. After trying a few times they decided to pay with cash. Only problem is they didn't have enough to cover their groceries. Without hesitation, Josh said don't worry about it and proceeded to pay the remaining balance. It was such a sweet and kind gesture & really warmed my heart. On top of that, he remained calm and patient during the whole process of all this going on. I don't even know if the elderly couple said thank you but I truly hope he gets acknowledged for his kind heart. read more

I'm a big fan of Harris Teeters and this is a good location - it is huge (compared to my local HT in Arlington. Parking can be a bit of a pain given that they share the parking spaces with other businesses around them. Service is good here as is the case of other HTs! aisles are nice and wide and are always clean and free of clutter during normal business hours! read more

Make sure to check your HT deli sandwich before leaving, if you order online. I have ordered a sandwich online 2 separate times, sandwich orders that included cheese, but I didn't get cheese on my sandwich. I don't have cheese at home to just put myself because it's not something we eat often, cheese is a treat for me.
