I'm finally to the point where I am looking for a new pharmacy. It was very convient having one located so close to home, but this place has gone so far downhill lately that I can't keep doing business there. Last week a clerk told me I wasn't allowed to know which precription they had ready for my wife (she takes several meds and had somehow accumulated extras, so I didn't want to buy any more of that medication until she was almost out). When I asked which medication was ready, the clerk literally said, "I can't tell you that." I explained the situation and she repeated that she couldn't tell me for privacy reasons. I replied, "Can you show me the bag before I buy it?" She said, "No, not until you pay for it." "But then you won't take it back if it's the medication I don't want, right?" I said. And she said "Yes. It's a dumb rule." Well it isn't the rule, unless every other clerk I've dealt with in the last 7 years has been breaking the rule. I didn't want to make a scene or ask for the manager, so I just left. The next day I stopped in and that clerk told me which med...sure enough, it was the one we didn't need. We moved my elderly MIL closer to our home because she doesn't get around very well, walking is painful and she uses a cane. She went to pick up one of her prescriptions and asked if they could fill another. The clerk told her no, that prescription can't be filled until one day before your pills are due to run out. MIL asked when that would be, and the clerk told her to come back in 3 days. I'm not sure that there's a "1 day before" rule - I've filled prescriptions a week early when I knew I'd be out of town. They seem to have a problem with keeping track of which prescriptions are the most recent. A few months back the doctor increased one of my wife's meds from 1.25 mg to 1.5mg. I picked up the meds and didn't check, but realized when I got home they'd given her the wrong dosage. And when I called, as you might guess, they couldn't take the pills back, and wouldn't give her the correct ones at the price our insurance paid; so we paid out-of-pocket. The final straw was today when they gave me the wrong number of pills. Two months ago I went from 1/2 tablet a day to a full tablet for one of my meds. Walgreens got it wrong last month, and I just paid out of pocket for the remaining meds. This week I went in on Tuesday to pick up the pills, but asked if the script was for 1/2 or a full tablet. They said their records only showed 1/2. I spoke to the Dr's office and they (again) called in a script for 1 tablet daily on Friday. Today, Saturday, my wife went in and picked up my meds, and Walgreens got it wrong again! I called and was told there was nothing they could do. She could see the new prescription, but they couldn't do anything about the price. I'd have to pay out of pocket - which is 5X the insurance price for half the pills. I like to shop local when possible, even if it means paying a bit more. But the poor customer service and lack of well - trained staff at Walgreens is more than I can stand at this point. read more

Pharmacy told my spouse their prescriptions would be ready in an hour when they came to get them. I went to pick them up 3.5 hours later and they still weren't ready. I was told 15-20 minutes & then when the pharmacist was walking out for break the same clerk that checked me in asked if I was waiting for a prescription to which I replied yes. She told the pharmacist they had a waiter and she said she would be back in 15 minutes. Clearly they have no organization or communication in this pharmacy. I'd give this pharmacy a zero if I could. They purposely withheld a prescription prescribed for pain related to cancer. They have been negligent and causing distress, pain and suffering by not thoroughly doing their due diligence by accurately looking up prescriptions. I have never had a a bad experience. The cashiers are always friendly the store is clean and stocked. The pharmacy especially is always so helpful. I have had wonderful experience of them helping me get lower cost on prescription and recommendations for over the counter meds for my kids when needed. read more

I am new to this area and I was forewarned about this Walgreens from friends and family. I didn't believe it till I experienced it myself. The staff that work at the pharmacy are so damn rude! When you call to refill prescriptions, they never answer their phone, or they have you on hold for a long time or when they do answer they are so rude and they literally try to rush you off the phone. This is the first Walgreens location I have ever had such bad customer service. I have family and friends who lives in Plumas Lake but they all get their medications filled at the Walgreens in yuba city because of the horrible customer service at this location in Plumas lake and that's just sad because we all live in this area. Do not use Walgreens! Especially in Plumas Lake. They are criminal in there pharmacy when it comes to insurance. I have two policies, they never run both, just one. I am constantly asking them to run both when I pick up my medicine. This last time the pharmacist refused and said they are both government insurances and they won't run both. I have tricare and a secondary through my husband's place of employment. This is BS and clearly a money grab for Walgreens. I am done. I will never use them again. I was humiliated and shamed by a pharmacist. She would not release my medication on religious grounds. I was prescribed medication by my physician to help my body process a missed miscarriage. Something I waited three weeks to confirm again and again was a missed miscarriage. She asked me if I was pregnant, something I'm not sure she was legally allowed to ask. And then sent me to Marysville to get my medication. This woman decided she has the right to pick and choose who she provides medical assistance to based on her religious beliefs. I tried to explain to her - not that it was ANY OF HER BUSINESS - to no avail. I tried to be understanding in the moment in hopes she would extend me the same courtesy but she did not. Her blind bias and heartless judgement prevented her from doing her job. I had called ahead to confirm my prescription was ready. I would have appreciated being notified that I needed to wait (maybe it's not ready yet. Maybe they don't have stock) but don't let me come in thinking there are no issues only to have your employee religiously shame my situation. Something I had no control over. Something I did not want to have to go through. She was treating me like I caused my miscarriage. Like I was dirty and immoral. The way I understand it, she has to submit a written letter to her superiors stating she cannot dispense certain medications and why - Walgreens knowing this should have prepared and had a second pharmacist on staff with her. If she cannot do her job to the fullest, she has no business being there. My husband returned to the store and went over the company policy with the manager but they have a loophole to protect this kind of disregard for their patients. However, in the State of California, she does not have the right to deny medication prescribed by a doctor. This woman saw me at my lowest and most devastated and did nothing, she saw my vulnerability and caused me more emotional torment in the name of her God and her religion in a public place. My wife wanted to get the word out because She felt ashamed for nothing, and a corporation or employee shouldn't be able to treat people the way they do! She recently had back surgery with some complications that would hold most anyone down in pain. With doctors orders pain medication is Necessary. She is only 3.5 weeks out of surgery, She had a post opp. Apt. Where there were concerns about her right leg and the pain She was experiencing. Doctor wrote a script to refill her meds etc etc. she came to our home town of Marysville to have her pills filled. She went to 3 separate pharmacy's to have it filled all were out (mind you She can hardly walk well, and Again only out of surgery for 3.5 weeks) she went to Walgreens Marysville being one of the last ones. She asked Marysville Walgreens if they had this prescription and could fill it for her, they stated no but She could try Plumas Lake. She thanked them very much for going out of their way to help her in this situation. By this point She was in so much pain, exhausted and emotional. Shearrived at the Plumas Lake Walgreens shortly there after leaving Marysville location. She handed her script over to the pharmacist (short with, medium length curly black hair). She said that the Marysville Walgreens informed her my wife was a regular of theirs. She looked confused since We are reg at CVS (had they had my prescription she wouldn't be going through this.) That's when this woman said to my wife very snide "we are doing this as a courtesy to the Marysville location. We keep our meds for our regulars. Now to me this is unfair. If someone has a script and walks into a pharmacy, the pharmacy should be obligated to fill it. Upset My wife spoke with the management who stated in her words. "I so sorry you experienced this, we get a lot of weird people off the highway who come in here." "We don't like filling meds for people who we can't see are in pain." Let's stop for a second you don't know what people are goin through you don't know My wife was wearing a flippin waist brace and in pain right now because She holds it in well. Dumb!!!! Store clerks. Need training!! We went in there yo buy laxatives. Not one laxative on the shelf. My husband asked the clerk why no laxatives. He was told they were all recalled. I knew that couldn't be right, so I called the Gray Avenue Walgreens to verify all the laxatives were recalled. He assured me they were not recalled. I came to the Walgreens in Plumas Lake on New Year's Day. I was glad to see they were open regular business hours. I called ahead to make sure, and they were very friendly over the phone. I was able to get a few food items and drugstore items. They had everything I was looking for. The only down I could say is their prices are a little higher than other Walgreens. But if you get the generic Nice brand, if it's available in what you're looking for. The price isn't that bad. read more

Never again will I call the Plumas Lake location located on River Oaks BLVD., I called them to enquire about the COVID vaccine and was treated very rudely. The associate sounded very disinterested when answering my questions about it. And once she said that I had to schedule an appointment for the vaccination online she promptly hung up on me. I had other questions that I had wanted to ask, but after today's treatment over the phone, I'll just take my business to a different location where the staff is very much friendlier. For a store that was not busy at all at the time I was calling (I was driving by on the road when I called, so I know that the parking lot was almost empty) they sure were in a hurry to get rid of me. This location is local to where I live so it's convenient for me to just walk in and get a few things, but I've never been treated like that over the phone before and I am seriously annoyed that they didn't want to take the time to care. read more

Walgreens itself is great but the pharmacy is shit. I've been in too many confrontations with the pharmacists because they don't have a damn clue as to what they're doing. Letters have been sent to corporate and they have since lost our business. They are some of the rudest and dumbest people I've ever had to deal with. The tall Russian and the Middle Eastern lady are horrible and really need to get their shit together. Employees here are always engaged. I've never had to get someone's attention if I needed to ask where something is. Not that I need to, I'm a man, but, employees, ya know, ask. *ahem* Anyway, I really like it here. Julie, Kat, and all the other employees are always very nice. But, Renee is the best. She always at the front counter and points out when there are sales/coupons that I don't know about. I saw Julie (an employee of this store) at the Peach Festival in Marysville, she said hi like we were old friends. I work in retail, so I know how it is to see someone from work out in the world and not be sure where you know them from, so I was happy she said hi. But, the next time I was at Walgreen's, she looked me right in the eye and said "Hey, did you have fun at the Peach Festival?" Very impressive. read more

The pharmacy staff is horrible. My husband and I have the same 2 insurance coverages. They accept both for him but not for me. They suddenly won't fill one of his common prescriptions. They refuse to add the coverage of the second insurance for me. They fill half of my prescriptions but not the other until I contact my doctor for a second time. I don't get acknowledged at all. My husband will walk up next to me and is immediately acknowledged. We went through the drive up window once and the woman HIT OUR CAR with the retractable container. She didn't apologize and just said "Oops." We will be taking our pharmacy needs elsewhere. read more

This is the only store in Plumas Lake and they carry an expanded grocery section (including bread, dairy, frozen food, and beer). They have gone out of their way to make sure that residents of Plumas Lake can get what they need right here in town. The staff is always very friendly and I've never had to wait long in line. This location rocks! The staff is so friendly and they have everything you may need (groceries, pharmacy, photo, beer & wine, electronics, home decor). I don't think I could live in Plumas Lake (which is in the middle of nowhere) without the convenience of this Walgreens. There are also two Red Box's outside. The hours of this location are 7am-10pm and they are open on Holidays which makes it even more convenient. Last night I went to the Photo Department to get some personalized Christmas Cards printed and not only did the Gentleman helping me give me a great discount but he was SO HELPFUL and printed the cards immediately. The only disadvantage to this location is the wait to checkout is usually long after 5pm but totally worth it! read more
