The worst ever in my life.I went grocery shopping with my service dog. We haven't been able to get out much.We shopped for like an HR or so and the store manager, ( I wasn't sure if he was at the time) told me to get my dog out of the store. I let him know she is my service dog and he said he would call the police. I asured him that he can I was in the right to have my dog. I went to the cheak out and the police came in. I tried to explain but he said hold on so I did. I went to leave but the cop grabbed my arm aggressively and said he was going to take my service dog . I went to asured my best friend know everything will be ok. The cop arrested me and my dog. I was in jail for 12 hrs on a friday.my service dog is still in jail. 220$ to get her out on a Saturday 23 hrs later. I showed proof that she is my service dog.with barrowed money. They wouldn't release her to me because the manager who works at the shelter is not there until Tuesday. The price raises every day... I don't know what to do... My soul is crushed over supposedly trespassing. Never trespassed.... I did nothing wrong. Especially my service dog.... I don't know why the manager had to over exaggerating it and being torchered with my service dog and cruel and unusual punishment. I have no criminal history and now this???? read more

Even with county and state issued order and big signs outside the front door that says you must have a face mask. More than 90% of the customers do not have face masks on. Most employees do but not the customers. The lack of enforcing county and state mandates are in place for the safety of all!!! they could care less! I would give them a zero if I could. read more

I usually shop here because they are reasonable. While checking out we get bags from our clerk and we start bagging our groceries. Before we finish our transaction we were going to need more bags. He hands me these dirty white bags off his floor. So I walk to the self check out and ask for some more bags from her. She turns towards me and starts asking me how I paid? I don't care how I paid I need bags. This blonde haired older woman wearing her blue sweater walks up to the cashier asking him. Sorry but I'm a paying customer and would like more bags. This place is ridiculous I will not shop here anymore and I will convince everyone I know to not shop there also. Very rude customer service!!!! This location has the absolute rudest cashier I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. So much attitude toward me. I couldn't believe the disrespect! I get some people have bad days, but don't take it out on your paying customers. This type of grocery store is about equivalent to walmart if not a step or two below. They have good produce but a terrible meat selection. The parking lot is full of potholes and seems dirty even though there are ample spaces to park. The lines are always extremely long to check out and the staff never seem pleased to be at work. I stop in here for deals here and there but I much prefer to shop elsewhere if I can help it. read more

Found Stella rosa wine for a good price here!! Such a steal! Yayyyy! Target has them for about $12, Walmart around $11 and foodmaxx has them for about $9!! Wow! Fresh fruits &veggies upon entrance. Of our humble local grocery stores, I think this place has the best produce selection. Impressive variety of veggies, fruit is consistently fresh and ripe. Huge bunches of fresh green herbs for around $1; I go out of my way to pick up my basil and dill. Everything else is just okaaay. A few neat items here and there, (my favs are some Asian canned goods and Indian ingredients), but it's def the fresh stuff that makes me pop in. VERDICT: GO, for the produce! Great prices for most items, such as vegetables, fruit, snacks, basic kitchen and house necessities. I like coming here because it's not as busy as Wal-Mart which is diagonally across the street. However, since Food Maxx is a grocery store, it doesn't have everything Wal-Mart does. For example, electronics, hardware, etc. When coming here, don't expect a nice and updated grocery store like Raleys and Bel-Air or Nugget --they're known for low prices! read more

It's a bit dated and beat up, but I love my neighborhood Food Maxx. I'm not really sure why I like it so much, I just find it easy and comfortable. The produce section is great, the prices are great on food, and parking is easy. Staff is pretty nice. They are generally cordial and polite. read more

We shop at this store pretty regularly as it is the closest store to our housing development in the middle of nowhere. The produce is exceptionally priced, and is generally fresh and appealing. Generally speaking, the store is small and incredibly limited in the brands and varieties of products they offer. Still, it works well given it is only a 15 minute drive for us. My one major complaint besides the limited product offerings is the smell. Specifically, the smell of the refrigerator case in the meat section, the one mid-aisle that holds hummus, cheeses, etc. Yes, that one. IT STINKS. It is a terrible smell, emanating from the machine itself. I don't know if it needs to be taken apart and disinfected, or if there is a dead person stuffed below, but whatever it is... fix it please! read more

Produce is great & I shop there regularly for just that reason, but it has some issues. The store smells really, really bad. I think it's because their refrigerators & freezers are always going out. I worry about some of the dairy & cheeses because they're sometimes warm to the touch. I usually hunt for the colder stuff in the back. Some of the employees are kind of rude & very unprofessional. The bakery dept is the worst. They act like you're annoying them if you want to order something & they mess up orders about half the time. They even managed to ruin my son's high school graduation cake by making it the colors of his rival school, even through I specifically ordered it with his school colors. They took like $2 off for that--gosh, thanks. One time it was all over the news that peaches sold from their stores were recalled for listeria concerns. As directed, I returned the ones I'd purchased to the store. But they had no idea what I was talking about! They told me I must have been confused about which stores it was because they have strict guidelines for recalls and would have been alerted immediately. They even have a "special phone" for that reason--blah, blah, blah. So I pulled up the news reports on my phone & showed the produce guy. He was so embarrassed. I told him to go pull the peaches they were selling before they made someone sick. He did, but he had no idea what was going on before I showed him the news report. That's concerning. And one time (this is why I don't buy meat there) I noticed the sticker on the meat I bought was covering another sticker. It seemed odd to me, so I peeled off the top sticker and underneath was the original sticker and according to it the meat was past its "sell by" date. It had been relabeled with a new date that was a week later. I posted a pic on Facebook & some of my friends had also experienced it. Ew. That's not cool. Then there's the gas station--which they say is no longer associated with them, that's why there's nobody in the booth anymore. If you need help the creepy but very kind man who lives in his truck parked by the booth is always happy to help. He'll let you know which 1 or 2 of the pumps are actually working that day. (His tip: look of the pumps that the backlight on the display is working.) As I'm writing this, I'm wondering why I shop here. But, sadly, it is the best grocery store in Yuba County. Eric acts like he OWNs this store. The line, and I mean only one checker was working and there were 6 of us waiting in line. I asked Eric, who was working the self service area with only 2 customers to pls call another checker. Did he help us? No. He just stood there like I was asking him for free food. I love buying my meats, fruits and vegis at Foodmaxx. I have gone to other stores like Walmart, and no way there prices are to high on there meats and there fruits and vegis are not fresh never on stock correctly. Foodmaxx is a better store, for the fruit and vegis always fresh and great selection, I love your variety you have...plus your sweet desserts are close by with all the fruits and vegis too. And your staff are so helpfull, when I need something I cant find, and I see someone working they are always helpful, like your Eric, Vanessa S., Forrest and Steve, they are always very cheerful to chat with you when you go to your store and to attend you, there all awesome associates. I love shopping there and my family too, and I will continue longest you keep also your Tequila prices low like you have had. My family buys it there, and only there. Thank you. read more
